What the Hell Happened to Quantum Break and Where is Quantum Break 2?

Remedy should be applauded for their ambition in Quantum Break. It’s a shame all that was good about the game was marred by narrative and structural choices; every element stuffed into the game diluting each other. Is there scope for a sequel?
In fact, is there even an appetite for it? Who knows? For now, it appears any notion of a Quantum Break sequel is firmly on the side-lines, what with Remedy’s other projects in the works. Should Quantum Break 2 ever see the light of day, there’s no doubt Remedy will tweak the transmedia formula for the better, it’s just questionable if they’ll ever get round to it.

I liked Quantum Break but the game was just too short, needed to be double the length. The live action episodes was a cool idea but it didn`t really work. The game was way too easy too & i felt they could of been more creative with the powers. But unlike Control & Alan Wake , Remedy don`t own this IP , but if they did im sure they would connect this game to its Remedy Universe

I honestly can’t believe that gamingbolt complains about reading emails, when you literally have to read hours and hours of bs to understand what the hell is going on in a Dark Souls game, but I am sure that they praise the sh!t out those games. Once again everyone has a different opinion. Personally, I am tired of open world walking/horse riding simulators like Elden Ring, Red Dead 2 and Witcher 3. Actually it's more Remedy's doing than Microsoft like with Alan Wake and the Sunset overdrive ip not being kept with Microsoft because Insomniac also kept it and not letting another developer owned or something else by xbox do it instead of letting PlayStation have it despite being exclusive on xbox and Windows I don't know if this is why 100 percent but its mostly because of certain developers than the publisher or owners sometimes.🤔

Unlikely you’ll see anything else of this game in a long while, if ever. Remedy has now focused on expanding their shared universe and unfortunately they can’t directly link this because it’s owned by Microsoft. The only way they could do that is if they regain the rights to the IP (which is unlikely to happen). They have also shown they have likely moved on from QB because they already are using non-direct references and allusions to this game in AW2.

Just finished my first playthrough of this. The ideas are very interesting but the execution is unfortunately sub-par. It's very janky on a mechanical level, the pacing is totally whack because you'll go from a high-octane shootout to reading emails and documents for ten minutes, and the TV episodes just feel like watching a mediocre Action flick. Plus, I don't think I've ever had this many technical problems with an Xbox game ever before. Lots of freezes, crashes, corrupted checkpoints that forced me to play three whole chapters over etc etc. Plus, that final boss fight is absolute trash.

I assume XBox owned the IP and didn’t want to make a sequel much like Wake. However, Alan Wake went back to Remedy (which is why we’re getting the amazing looking Alan Wake 2 in a few months), but Quantum Break also left Game Pass recently due to licensing issues so that may have also reverted back to Remedy. Between Wake 2, a rumored Control 2 in the works, and the upcoming Max Payne reboot, I doubt remedy will return to Quantum Break anytime soon. It was an excellent game though. One of the best time travel stories I’ve experienced in any medium, nevermind just gaming. And in my opinion a must play on XBox (although the tv episode intermission format feels a bit dated). But considering Wake, Control, and QB all take place in the same universe this will prob not be the last time we hear from Quantum Break.

@@hawkins347ut would they tho? idk i just got into remedy and dont know their track records of these kinds of stuff. Are they known for caring about what the community wants even if it means they gotta make a sequel of a "failed" game thats almost a decade old? I mean like do we still have hopes?:"(

For PC, don't bother with the MS Store version, it runs exclusively through DX12

It’s a shame Microsoft and Xbox don’t acquire studios after they deliver amazing exclusives for their platforms. If they had acquired remedy back then now they would’ve kept and had control as a first party game, Alan wake would’ve stayed an Xbox exclusive and they would’ve gotten so much value out of this studio… same with Ryse son of Rome.. it was a game that was definitely not a masterpiece but the graphics, gameplay and story were definitely great and they could’ve gone for Ryse 2 another abandoned IP… same with Sunset at the time they didn’t snatch insomniac and now insomniac games is one of Sonys most celebrated studios and they only paid 300 million for it 😂 like dude Xbox has very questionable decisions… they went for Bethesda which was a good move but a little too late now they could’ve had a massive must play catalog of games which they just don’t have right now. Forza and Halo can only do so much… and since Gears is nowhere to be seen they literally have 2 big IPs to rely on and can’t even handle them properly either…

Yeah I thought it was an intresting idea to add the episodes to quantam break, but it just didn't really work. If they were like 3 minute episodes it might've worked but I don't like how everytime I completed an act I had to watch a 25 minute episode. Also the streaming didnt even work on my tv and the download was 79 gb so I had to watch it on youtube. The later 2 episodes are a lot better than the first two I'd say, but the show was just a poor execution. If maybe it was like he parts of the show in flashbacks, it would've worked better.

Like always with Remedy games, the graphics and story were mind-blowingly good., while retaining the same shallow gameplay from Max Payne.

wait a couple more years and Remake QB1. I feel for every bit the original was experimental, every bit of the story was gripping and well crafted. Aka fix the delivery because the payload be CRAZY good.

Just finished this. Bought it on day one but could never get into it back then. So in the backlog it sat....but now I just finished it and loved it. i like how "basic" but different it was. i know the reviewer felt the expereience was disjointed due to the tv show episodes but i loved it. You know its good when the wife just sits there watching and asking what happened to the guy with the wife in the hospital lol

I was disappointed in the game mainly because I didn't feel it was as good as Alan Wake or Max Payne, but liked it enough to be interested in a sequel. I went through it when it came out, then again on One X in 2018, then I just went through again and 100 percented it on Series X because Alan Wake 2 has me excited and in a Remedy games mood. I can't imagine we'll be getting a sequel, at least any time soon, but I have to assume it's part of the connected universe and would love to see more references to it in Alan Wake 2 or Control 2.
