Yeah I was a lil cranky that some didn't mention upfront costs to get going too xD Specially farming, with the seed selling + worm farms. I finally worked it out and built it up slowly to start an ongoing gold flow, but it takes a little bit of time to get ready and have even just 1 of the seed + worm + perserve machines to start the process. It's good once you get there, but they should mention what you need, and a beginner version vs the big spender version.

Good to have a list of costs, cause it is not as easy as the guides often sound. I just built that garden up gradually while casually playing and just now see some rewards from it... a week or so of logging in after work etc. But we found that hunting Vampire crabs helped us get the funding for the garden. :)

When a bag upgrade = 100k, I'm always surprised the company/devs start nerfing any "money making" items, when their whole game is about having to make enormous amounts just to be able to continue playing or expanding the house. No logic at all. If your game company doesn't want everyone on playing and ONLY focussed on making "gold", then have reasonable costs associated with everything. Thing is, one soil plot costs X, next one costs X plus, and on it goes for all those essentials. And I still don't get the money sink furniture making is. However, I keep reminding myself it's not a fully formed game yet.

Hi James, fantastic video! All those guides are indeed awesome but as you say they don’t really show all the work, money and effort it costs to get to that lvl of making crazy amounts of money with an efficient moneymaker farm. But the grind to get there is part of the Palia fun, though it can throw people of by only showing the glam farms. Your video gives the viewers a nice reality check 😉

I find that most youtube guides (not even for just Palia but most games) the youtubers always keep stuff hidden or they forget things. Once I was watching a twitch streamer who was playing albion online. He did a good run and claimed he made a bunch of money off it. Then he takes what he just farmed and crafted it up with other mats he had stored, then sold what he crafted and made something like 3 million. He claimed 'look guys I made 3 mill off that 1 run"... He just straight up forgot he was using mats that he farmed previously. That took time and money to get. He forgot to add the opportunity cost of what he did. I called him out on it because I knew he was going to make a click bait youtube video from it. Then he got all pissy at me for saying he forgot to take away the mats that he had stored up from what he made before. And youtube videos that claim something 'like 20k+ an hour for doing this crazy money maker in palia' is forgetting to add the opportunity cost of that 20k+ an hour. You make more like 5kish, maybe? They forget to add the notes of how long it does take to do some things. Or forget to take away the cost of the mats used to make what they are making. It is all just bull shit, they just want the youtube money money baby with bull shit click bait and watch time from a viewer so I get why they do it.

Agreed a fair amount of videos on mmorpgs have a fair amount of clickbait and completely glaze over the fact that you need to be an experienced player to properly mimic their guides, unfortunately videos that do have the full details receive less views and generally take longer to research and gather data and are released after the hype has died down.

I wonder how many of the "get rich quick" guides can be fed to the glow worms after the patch and the changes to tomato and apple seeds. Yesterday I got my 9th soil slot and started my "every crop" garden. I love the efficiency and low maintenance required by your pattern that just works regardless of what changes are done on the input/seed side of farming.

I sold what I gathered and by the time I reached level 10, I had earned enough to buy all bag upgrades and all recipes for tool upgrades. No need to farm or grind or cheat. Don't want to scare ya, but for me the next license for another crafting machine is like 9000 gold. I run all nine plots strictly of tomatoes. Its easier to have 1 product to seed. I have 7 glow worm farms and 9 seed makers, even the glow worm farms run on tomatoes. Gold isn't an issue but it takes a lot of farming to get to this, and I need about 4 or more glow worm farms more to almost keep up w/ the fertilizer. I hear cooking parties are the thing if you want easier gold. I have a couple friends that swear to 70K gold an hour with group cake making. I started playing in the closed beta, literally 1 day before open beta started. However atm I have the ability to crank out the hours so my lowest skill is 9 (furniture crafting) and the highest is farming which is 19.

To be fair, those guides never said they were guides meant for new players. To go into one of those videos with the assumption that you could be making 5-10k per hour literally from the start is a bit presumptuous and unfair. Yes they don't outright say you need to have this and that, but I think a bit of common sense and logic could deduce that these are more mid to late game tactics. If you want a real insider tip to make money fast from very early on, look into celebration cake parties.

Palia's an MMO just like Elden Ring is an MMO! As in it's not an MMO! Im hunting level 36 right now and make around 20k every hour i go nuts hunting. With the 300k cap, i dont really need to push it further. I made a short uncut Hunting video just to show how fast you can go o er on my channel. I am worried for the longevity of this game though. I cant see myself playing this game much longer. There is nothing to do once you max out. Even going slow you'll essentially max out (level 10 basically) within a few months. S6 seams more focused on making the premium shop working perfectly over actually makong content to keep players playing. There is little to no point in building up your home since no one is really going to see it.

My goal is to be able to build a gigantic mansion and then have the resources necessary to craft whatever I want and decorate it perfectly. That is going to take a huge amount of time. I spent so much time leveling everything up to be able to get materials for each and everything that builds on each and every other thing. I also have an all tomato Farm. Finally in the place where I can get a decent amount of gold but it still does take many hours to farm over time to be able to keep collecting gold. I would say once I have my Dreamhouse I probably won't play anymore. But that is still going to take some time. You give the impression that you thought you were going to be making huge amounts of money within 3-7 days of starting the game. That wouldn't happen in any game (at least not one that understands how to design their economy). None of those other guides are misrepresenting anything, it's perfectly normal to need to spend time building up your character/account/land/production in any game. Those guides are telling people what their goals are, "This is what you're working towards so you can make lots of money." None of them are intended to be describing how to get rich in the first week of playing. I mean, what games have you played that let you have end-game levels of income within the first week or two of playing?

There is 0 depth to this game. None of the "skill trees" are interesting. You never feel you are making progress or getting "stronger". You make money to Buy A to then do B in that tier, then rinse and repeat this process for the next tier. Its a massive grindfest to see the numbers go up and normally in those types of games you need variety and "fun" things as a distraction. Here in this game you have no variety and no distractions but all the grind with 0 point to them. Its by far the most boring thing I have ever played in a long time. Unless they come out with a roadmap and a million fixes to their "systems" I don't ever see myself touching this again. 2/10
