Everyone's choice. I'm smoker, but I wouldn't really be proud or brag about it cause I do see it as senseless/ pointless habit and feel embarrassed to be one of those who continue wasting money on it... compared with some drugs - at least with them you get some pleasure out of it... smoking seems to just damage health without noticeable positive feelings. I think it's way more psychological thing- way to pass time, gives reason to go outside in fresh air for a brake at work etc... which I could do even without cigarette, but I guess my silly mind requires a purpose for that... Pretty expensive for wallet and health habit I would say.

"Sometimes I forget to vape:"----altair *Thank you!* How "addictive" could nicotine be if you sometimes forget to seek and dose with it? If you're determined to deny yourself the likely health benefits of nicotine that's up to you but you needn't deprive yourself of whatever satisfaction you got from the act of smoking and later vaping. There are 0mg/ml fluids you can get if that's your aim but you would still have the option to be "sociable" and whip out your vaping pen and share when someone else hauls out his sub-ohm "mod" and starts filling the air with vapor. This is a social activity which is older than history and a form of free expression of one of our most basic innate rights---to display our distinction from the other creatures. What other animal will roll up leaves of plants, light them and intentionally inhale the smoke? Simetimes chimps will take it up after we show them. That's all. But they'd never do it on their own. Many cultures have ascribed many hoped-for benefits of smoking a variety of things. Vaping is undoubtedly not perfect but it's a vast improvement on the primitive unimproved act of "smoking" and can be used to dose with virtually anything if dosing is what's being sought. Further inhalation is one of the safest methods of dosing with things which could be dangerous in too high quantities because it allows for immediate feedback and self-moderation whereas taking a pill or an injection has to be based on a whole technology of preparing subtances in highly uniform doses and referring to tables which give recommendations based on body-weight and which can absolutely ignore temporary conditions which may pertain which would factor in to the smoking instant-feedback safe-dosing characteristic of that method of dosing with whatever-it-is. But even just the act of smoking or vaping is symbolic of the human trait of finding practical solutions to anything. It's a sacrament of humanity. Xians may not actually be indulging in cannibalism when they take "the host" but it's symbolic and even vaping 0 mg/ml vapor is a *symbolic* reenactment of one of humanity's oldest best ideas. Tell the regulators "go to hell---leave me the *>

There are many rationalizations and justifications you will tell yourself to continue using your substance of choice, this is very common in addiction. And other addicts love to hear these well thought out explanations that give them excuses to keep using as well. All it does is add more hurdles in front of you when you try to stop for good. Cigs are crap, vape is crap, nicotine is crap! A 20 second head rush? That's what you love? It doesnt even last a minute, and then you want to do it again and again, and eventually that rush is gone too. It doesnt help anything, doesnt make you feel any better, just the illusion of a good feeling with that short head rush, but then without the buzz, you feel worse of than before, so youre not getting any better feeling overall its taking you down. Most everyone realizes this but addictions are a mother!

I was finally successful because I knew I was doing it for myself and not what anybody else wanted me to do. My wife nagged me to quit but I did not. I did not quit because I feared for my health. I quit because I was sick of having to run to the gas station during snow storms to get my fix. I quit because I could not get through my work day without taking extra breaks to get my fix. I quit because I was sick of being addicted. Before I quit I could not imagine a life without nicotine. But 17 years later I feel like quitting was the best thing I have ever done.

The reason that vaping works better than nicotine patches, lozenges, or gum is because the cigarette addiction has two components. There is a physical addiction to nicotine, however slight, PLUS a behavioral addiction to the smoking ritual. That behavioral addiction is really significant. You get so accustomed to drawing in smoke that you cannot replicate the experience by wearing a patch or chewing on gum. The more "cigarette like" the vaping experience is, the easier it is for a cigarette smoker to make the transition. This is why some cigarette smokers can transition completely to vaping, even at 0% nicotine levels, but it is very difficult to fully transition to patches or gum.
@martinrea85483 жыл бұрын

Yes Nicotine IS addictive. Just because you made a good marketing video with a nice voiceover does not change that fact. Although Nicotine is the primary (or the only) physically addictive component of tobacco, I agree that other chemicals present in the cigarette are carcinogenic and more dangerous health wise. Consuming Nicotine only products (like c-cigs, gums etc) are way better than using tobacco as you atleast satisfy your addition in order of magnitude less harmful way. I suggest that read your own (read not watch) directly from reputed universities and institutions. Read many from several institutes and not just from one and educate yourself and don't let the for or the against group put thoughts in your mind with their marketing. What gum strength you use 2g or 4g? and can we divide the gum in 2 or 3 parts if it comes strong? I mean I am now into 4 cigy a day.. have you tried to divide the gum? did you succeeded in quiting? Nothing is truly 100% healthy, even overdosing on pure drinking water is possible, and even the very act of breathing wears down your muscles and organs. But vaping is 97-99% safer than smoking, which is just the long way around saying that it's functionally harmless.

About smoking in general. You won't get this data, I discovered accidentally. Smokers are healthier. I did 10s of thousands of kms on bike and foot with trace of money. Since I like coffee with my smoke, the price was important.Medical centres and hospitals offer cheap coffee, and places outside to sit around. This way I could judge how many people were smoking. While it is over 30% everywhere, around health institutes it is no more than 10%. As myself, I hardly ever seen doctor. So, putting taxes on tobacco is a rip off. Smokers pay far more into the security of they use. Big Pharma is mad about smokers, for they don't buy tons of their poisons. While they are younger, they are healthy. When they would go to retirement, they die, wasting the best 30 years of being on medicine.

Chewing tobacco also helps to quit smoking. Not actually chewing it, I just keep it between the gums and lip. Anyway, I remember that it was easier to quit smoking when I was younger. It makes sense now: it's not the nicotine alone that is creating the addiction. Thanks for the insight. No tobacco is free from additives.

As a European within the EU, one of the biggest reason I find for going from cigarette to vaping is the cost. So I was never a huge smoker, but I like it for the social factor at work and such. Now with a vaping device, I can spend a few euros on a bottle of liquid once every few months instead of 7-8 euros on a pack of cigs every other day. That sure makes a big enough difference to be worth it. Sure, the initial cost to start vaping is higher than that, but that cost is saved up so quickly in the long run that I just can't not justify it. I do intend to step up to bigger and better things from my basic Ego style device, though. I want something nicer to go the full mile and quit snus. If I manage that, vaping will have given me what I've been looking for. A life free of tobacco. And I pay 65€ a month for snus. Imagine taking that down to 10 or 20. That's a nice little save there at the end of each year. :)

I switched to vaping because I was tired of the ashes and butts and the smell of it even though I couldn't smell it myself while I was smoking. I'm a truck driver so I'm in a high stress job already...if I didn't vape I'd probably be shoving tons of food in my mouth and I'd be 500lbs as I'm already overweight. I remember climbing back into my truck that just smelled of that stale smoke smell and decided that's it. No more burn holes in my seat. Wish I could stop vaping, but one wrong move in my truck and I could die...so I'm seriously about enjoying life...whatever makes you happy. I have no issue with other people who smoke around me. Been there done that I'm not the smoke police or a smoke nazi.
I still feel like many don’t believe this even when they hear this, but I can say for sure (as will many others) as sure as I know the back of my hand, that the physical wd from cigarettes is not even comparable to that of nicotine. This can be felt for oneself (though one should not attempt unless they already smoke; cigs are extremely addictive). This is not to say nicotine isn’t addictive, but it’s far more behavioral than the physical and mental anguish brought on by chemical withdrawal from maoi (or whatever else in the cigs that causes the dependence).

I have been smoking for over 50 years. A year ago I stopped buying cigarettes and started rolling my own from pipe tobacco because cigarettes cost so much. I now smoke way less as I do not roll up a bunch ahead of time but just as i want one which is way less then before. I recently smoked a pack of cigarettes because I was out of town and did not take my stuff with me. I got sick, fever and all. It took several days to feel better and I still have a slight cough. I won't be doing that again. As long as i buy my natural cut tobacco with no additives i feel better. It could be the placebo effect but after smoking my entite adult life this is necessary for me. I have no desire to quit. I usually smoke like maybe a half a pack a day if that. Way better than the $10 a pack i was smoking daily before and it only costs me about dollar per pack now. I like the fact that a lb of tobacco lasts over a month and costs less than $20 for the entire month. I can't stand vapes so this has helped me immensely and i feel i will taper off even more down the line. Since quitting is not my goal this has been a game changer for me and I see tapering down to no cigarettes might actually happen gradually.

This is 100% accurate. It doesn't matter how much nicotine you get, you will still crave cigarettes. I know this from firsthand experience, I was vaping 50+ mg (maybe over 100) of nicotine per day and still wanted a cigarette.

I think its more about how the nicotine is delivered into your system, I have been addicted to vaping, first, and I went to cigs because it was the only thing I could get my hands on (im underage) but I was still really, really craving that quick buzz from that vape. Then, I was addicted to cigs, and then after being addicted to that for several months, I tried switching to vape, but then I started to crave the cigs again. Very weird. I switched out vaping for a vicks vapor inhaler paired with hypnosis therapy (yeah i know it sounds dumb), BUT this, to my surprise, I think has been the most effective approach for me and ive tried quitting like 30+ times at least. I think mainly its just the pausing and taking a deep breathe that i enjoyed the most from vaping. The vapor gave me something to concentrate on while i try to relax and cope with the daily struggle. Vick’s vapor inhaler helps me feel like im breathing with a purpose, and satisfying that fixation of a puff. The hypnosis therapy helped me fight off the mental temptations too, i was surprised how well it worked and even if you think hypnosis is fake (as a former skeptic myself, i can confirm it’s not fake but its hard to get into if you have a lot of pride/big ego/conflict a lot with the idea of trying to control everything around you), just the therapy portion in itself helped me meditate, mediate and manage my frustration, anxiety, sleep and stress a lot easier. Highly recommend trying those two routes if you’re looking to quit and havent! Hope it helps!

You ever go to a party with a fog machine? That's vape. That plus nicotine, which is no more harmful than caffeine. My doctor told me this when I switched from cigarettes ten years ago. Also, adults like flavors too. Make your own vape juice: 25% food flavoring (diacetyl alcohol free) 25% food grade propylene glycol 50% food grade vegetable glycerin You can vape this without nicotine. If you're already an addict like me.. add up to 10% nicotine solution in a propylene glycol base at a strength of 100mg/ml. I use flavors from The Flavor Apprentice online. DX Banana Cream 80% DX Graham Cracker 10% DX Peanut Butter 10% This makes a flavor that Cutwood used to sell called Boss Reserve. You'll probably love it.

Great to hear what I thought many times after failed attempts to quiet smoking! I had a discussion with someone about this just this afternoon: it's NOT the nicotine, that became pretty clear to me. For one: why is it so hard to switch from regular cigarettes to the 'non additive' variations (like American Spirit) for most smokers? They contain the same amount of nicotine but they just don't seem to do the trick. How come? The reason is that the really addictive part of smoking has to be searched within the additives and in some combination of chemicals that causes the strong addiction. The addictive side of nicotine is simply not powerful enough to cause it - not by a long shot! That's perfectly clear to me! Anyways, great stuff and happy vaping!

+Patrick Nahr There was an article fairly recently in Discover magazine about neuro-supportive supplements which seemed to suggest that nicotine is one of the few such supplements which actually can be proved to do anything at all in that regard. It seems to improve one's ability to focus on a task. My personal worthless-as-anecdotal experience is that lately I'm remembering where I put some small object when distracted instead of depending on the usual scavenger-hunt. That article stated that pure nicotine is very difficult to addict rats to while a mixture nicotine and several other chemicals present in tobacco smoke---they named them----will habituate rats effectively to that mixture. I believe it was on one of last year's editions. If not then in 2014 or this year. When I was a kid everyone smoked. The oddballs were those who didn't. We successfully planted our national banner on the Moon and in mission control Houston films show people smoking like chimneys. Since we all gave up smoking we can't even put a telescope in orbit without some whole factory full of nit-wits forgetting to test the figure of the primary mirror for parabola. We couldn't land a human on the Moon and get him back here alive now to save the earth from being destroyed by some errant piece of cosmic debris, if that's what it took. There are other factors and I don't want to set off that argument but I do believe tobacco to have figured in that. I believe I couldn't focus easily in the classroom because I'd learned to focus in a home full of nicotine-laced tobacco smoke but the school didn't allow it. Then I'd go home and try to do homework about something which seemed as if it was completely strange and irrelevant to me because when it was being " 'splained" to me in preparation for doing the homework I was not focusing. More worthless anecdotes but while it's not worthy of convincing others to change public policy it is worthy of convincing me to experiment.

I never heard of anyone having difficulty switching to american spirit. The addiction is just in the mind. People are paying for their own endorphins they could get released by doing some exercise or breathing exercises etc. instead of smoking.

Simple, nicotine is the controlled substance. Not tobacco. If nicotine was not controlled, it wouldn't be in the same class as tobacco. Hope this answers the burning question. Law is law. Must be followed. I agree. None of it should be controlled like it is. I don't agree that vaping is healthier or less toxic than smoking. But if it's what a person wishes to do, go for it. I choose to smoke. But again, nicotine is regulated, like alcohol is. That's the reason.

I used to be a very avid smoker who then switched to vaping, and vaped quite a lot. However, I also exercised and ran a lot. At first, it seemed to not impair my running one bit. However, after a long time of vaping I started noticing that it became harder and harder for me to run, and that was not because of difficulty breathing, but because my legs seemed very stiff, which got accompanied by unexplained joint pain. I decided to try to quit vaping and see if it helps, and after a few days of not vaping the pains went away. Nicotine is not harmless. It is not the main culprit in the disease caused by smoking cigarettes, but it's far from harmless. It constricts your blood vessels and impairs circulation. In my case, because I have muscly legs, I guess they were not getting enough blood flow due to the nicotine effects. I went a year without nicotine only to try disposable vapes again just out of curiosity. Surely enough, after a couple of days the pains were back and disappeared within a day of not taking any. So don't be fooled - nicotine is not harmless. If you no longer need it - stop using it. If you are using vaping to quit nicotine - then work on it, and don't turn it into an even bigger addiction. YOu get much more nicotine you could ever get from cigarettes when vaping so keep in mind that every time you vape, you are depriving your fingertips and legs of essential blood flow. There is a reason why your feet and fingers go cold after taking nicotine.

The only time he smoked it was late in the evening after all the work was done and it was time to relax and read the paper or something. It wasn't really a addiction for him although he did it his entire life. It was more of a " Habit" but didn't control his everyday life. Ive noticed the same between " Dip" users and loose leaf tobacco chewers. People who dip " need a damn dip" all the time. The old timers i remember who chewed regular old loose leaf tobacco never had this urgent need to chew tobacco.

Vapes aren’t just nicotine, though. Vapes contain many toxic chemicals. As far as we know right now, vaping is *less* harmful than smoking, but it’s still harmful. There are toxic chemicals in vapes, just like cigarettes, but less of them. Yes, nicotine is being studied and prescribed as a medication for some illnesses, but this is a low-dose of nicotine given in a patch form, not constant hits throughout the day. Nicotine itself isn’t as bad for you as the other chemicals in cigarettes or vapes, but it doesn’t come without harm. You don’t absorb nutrients as well when using nicotine and nicotine can cause brain damage since you are getting dopamine highs and lows throughout the day. AKA nicotine throughout the day is *bad* for your mental health. This brain damage is worse if your brain is still developing.

All these companies need to do is sell you nicotine once. The don't care what lies or misinformation they spread. They don't care about educating you. They care about getting you to try, which can lead to addiction/dependency, which can lead to a long-term customer. They are a business and their bottom line is MONEY. If you want to do it, fine. Even if there were no health risks, you still have a dependency on something that is completely unnecessary.

I question the assertion in this video that even tobacco with it's complex of other ingredients is very addictive. If it's so damn addictive how can I smoke one strong cigarette a week and not even ever experience one iota of appetite for another? People want to do what they like to do and it's become a big excuse for wanting to do lots of pleasurable things that we're "addicted". We should assert our right to do what we like so long as it can't be proved it hurts someone else. You can drink all you want if you refrain from driving. There's something very wrong with a population of people who can't say "I like doing this and I'm going to do it" without resorting to subscribing to some sort of a victim-group mentality. You shouldn't stink up other people's clothing and effects with your smoke--that's common courtesy. I can see laws against it because I grew up in a time when it was considered to be acceptable to impose your smoking odors on everyone around you. People were unimaginably rude about it. But we've gone overboard when we have whole cities trying to declare themselves smoke/tobacco free--everywhere in the city. Considering my own experience of tobacco smoking if it's "intensely addictive" I'd have to say a lot of funds and resources spent on treating addictions are squandered. People are highly suggestible and prone to look for excuses for things they do because they like to do 'em. Stop making lame excuses and accept personal responsibility and then stand on your rights. Government needs to take it's intrusive regulations and restrictions and shove 'em. "Is it possible that everything we think we know about nicotine is a lie?" Honey I think it's quite possible that about 99% of the common folly is just that---fallacious.

It's ridiculous how pathetic and pussified we've all become, just love putting labels/excuses on everything from being lazy and not exercising to being "addicted" to everything, and I have an addictive personality but I realize it's all psychological because I enjoy doing those things so much and I've learned how to moderate those things so as not to do them in excess and therefore am not an "addict"

Addiction comes from repeated use creating a dependency. Like coffee drinkers. However if you never create that dependency you can avoid addiction. Basically an initial misuse of a product will create longterm addiction.
@diogeneslamplit65737 жыл бұрын
Well; it's "repeated"---weekly. Further the "skinny" on crack is that one single hit can result in an addiction. Here's what I think. I think addiction has the same genesis as the love of horror films. Everything is going mostly-alright, we live a happy wholesome life but there's a part of us which insists on believing "the other foot is about to fall" and the nice veneer of our life really disguises some sort of horrible hidden reality. One of those horror movies we produce and direct ourselves is the spectre of a pleasure so intense that we're addicted to it. I think most of us have experience of at least one natural biological function which actually satisfies that specification and I didn't have to make a habit of that before I couldn't stop. That's a powerful discovery we almost all have and it gets us to thinking--what if there are other pleasures that intense we won't be able to divorce ourselves from them either? Our own little horror story and we can be the main protagonist in our very own little horror film if we love drama that much and find our mundane life that boring. To me that's the truth of addiction. I listen to these advertisements for endeavors which promise to cure our addictions and the first thing they do is attempt to destroy any and all hope in the prospective customer that they could ever DIY. You can quit anything. After I was a bit more mature I even quit seeking/having orgasms for awhile and was able to do that for a period of 6 months or so--which to me proved that even that could be overcome by a triumph of the will. That one has the strong advantage of being built upon the basic biological imperative which occurs in even the least neurologically sophisticated creatures and is, on the whole ( unless you're a male spider ) wholesome and healthy. Considering the fact that those who smoke cigarettes are less likely to succumb to Parkinsonism and the more they smoked the lower their odds of it maybe even smoking tobacco is not totally unwholesome. Maybe there's a way to smoke tobacco or consume whatever is in it which helps support neurological function which is totally health-neutral. Do you never begin to wonder at the direct correlation between the extent t o which the discouragement of smoking seems inversely proportional to the rise in the three horsemen of age-related neurodegenerative diseases? I'm not saying there's any smoking gun yet but it does seem worthy of investigation. Maybe we need to stop creating horror movies of our lives and start looking for the good in almost everything which seems pleasurable or desirable and finding out how to minimize whatever negative consequences apply to the most gross and primitive forms of whatever it may be. The medical profession has come up with some really astounding mistakes and one that leaps to mind immediately is allowing tens of thousands of their charges to "bleed out" through gastric ulcers for the lack of some cheap readily-available antibiotics because they were so fascinated with the concept that no antibiotic-susceptible pathogen could ever actively operate within the "acid-bath of the stomach". And that's far from their only such exhibition of arrogant hubris. I huff nicotine 24mg/ml on a regular basis. But I'm constantly having to remind myself to do it (because I believe it may be largely the nicotine component of tobacco smoke which brings the most benefit ). If I lost my nicotine pen it would irk me because it cost me money and I'd think I should replace it to keep exposing my CNS to nicotine because of my suspicions about it's possible beneficial effects but I wouldn't be having any "nicotine fits" about it. I think people are far too susceptible to allowing themselves to be brainwashed. There's a lot of money to be made in brainwashing people and the techniques for it are well developed and nearly second-nature to many people. I have nothing against free enterprise and religious freedom but I do believe in the value of an informed consumer. The human mind is awesomely powerful and can overcome much which is often thought to be insurmountable. Even a mediocre one such as mine.
@diogeneslamplit65737 жыл бұрын
Addiction comes from people not having the colossal gall anymore to say to those who criticize the things they chuse to do for their own pleasure that they will do what they want to do so long as it's not illegal and anyone who doesn't like it is free not to follow their example. So they need to run hide behind Mommy Addiction's skirts and say "Mommy said I have to". Just like KaLAsHNikOvKiD The 1st said----"pussified". Everyone has to have some sort of permission for everything now. They teach it in school--have to have permission to be walking i n the hall to go use the restroom. These kids ought to just stand up and whip it out and piss next to their desks until the school figures it out that halls are made for the people in the facilities to walk from a room to a restroom ( or whatever destination ) and that being in the hall and walking is self-explanatory and needs no bureaucraptic red tape. They've indoctrinated us all well while calling it "education". People throw away perfectly good items because they don't have a permission-slip from an institution of tertiary education giving them permission to back a few screws out and look a PC board over for a cracked foil or fractured solder-pad. Ayn almost got it right with her "who is John Galt" except it's "that's above my paygrade". But it's really surprising what is *not* really "above your paygrade" if you decide to bear down really hard and grit your teeth and pop a couple of little overheated "stones" out of your abdomen and into that odd little hanging patch of skin behind your overgrown clitoris...

Unless you're buying pure nicotine and mixing your own fluids at very high levels the ability to sense danger and refrain/slow-down inherent in inhalation self-dosing is going to keep you out of trouble. Nobody's going to sell you anything since "regulation" with which you will get in any trouble. Ever try taking your pulse and blood pressure before and after beginning a session of vaping with a nicotine-laced vaping fluid? I doubt you'll even get any results that are statistically significant either in the initial or later stage of intoxication with whatever levels of nicotine you're getting. In my own experience only when I could get some stuff which I was assured was mixed to 45mg/ml and after carefully sampling it at greater and greater levels of use was I ever able to even slightly experience the same level of "giddiness" which I can experience with my one weekly ceremonial tobacco cigarette. That is an American Spirits "black label" with ( usually ) about 1/3rd of the filter cut off and it's smoked like someone would smoke a "joint"---taking smoke into the lungs and then holding. I suspect some of the giddiness even then is more a case of carbon monoxide even though I hyperventilate between "hits" to attempt to flush that out of my system. Eventually I intend to get some rusticum type tobacco and make extractions of a more complete spectrum of tobacco alkaloids, mix them in some glycerin I got from the pharmacy and vape that and see what it does. I'll let you all know how the hospital food was. ; ' ) That will be my response to FDA regulation terrorism against the vaping industry. I really wouldn't worry about vaping in regard to overdosing on nicotine. It's highly unlikely.

There are 3 kinds of nicotine u can vape, salts, freebase, and Whole Tobacco Alkaloid(WTA). Tobacco contains a number of similar chemicals to nicotine that have more of an antidepressant effect extending the half life of nicotine and your own neurotransmitters, so you can get WTA ejuice that is actually as addicting as cigs. Only recommended for people who have to stop smoking cigarettes and don't get satisfied from normal vaping.

I've been saying there's something else in cigarettes that they don't talk about. When I was quitting I could vape but Id still yearn for a cigarette. This clearly shows there's something in cigarettes my brain wants that isn't in the vape juice. Shit fucked up frfr. I'm done with anything that controls me by way of addiction.
@Morra54722 жыл бұрын
They have them laced with over 7000 different chemicals. One of them can be found in anti-depressant medicines. As well they are laced with sugar etc... Do your research what you are really putting into your body. Because the cigarette companies could care less about what happens to you as long as you keep buying their product.

I'm still going strong. It's been 3 months no Alcohol, 2 months no nicotine or caffeine, and 1 month no psychedelics. Psychedelics has its place 😄. I've had nothing but shrooms and MJ for the past three months. I even limited my YT consumption to educational purposes only. Audiobooks and shit. I've learned so much and changed so many conflicting habits/patterns. Ive literally reformed my life in 1 year. Now I've set my Wife and I up to actually cheive, learn and grow together. Stopping nicotine didn't do these things for me but stopping it is now apart of this journey and it has its place. I've save ALOT of money not buying juice and coils every 1-2 weeks.

MAOIs ( I didn't know that ) Makes a lot of sense, some are very potent, also accounts for why people smoke more when depressed or feeling bad about themselves. Habit also accounts for difficulty giving up so vaping is good.

I used to smoke regularly although not overly so, for about 17 years. At 39 I quit, having decided that smoking was lightening my wallet and undemining my health without offering me anything, not even an illusion of pleasure or relaxation. No withdrawal problems at all.

I am 31, never touched cigarettes. Heard some good things about nicotine. Went to the local cigar shop and got high quality premium cigars. Only drawing the smoke into the mouth and immediately blowing out gave me the “high” effect. The “high effect” seems to give me better clarity of thought and more motivation. Thinking this may solve my adhd if properly applied with little drawback from only drawing the smoke into the mouth and not the lungs. “They” have fooled us by calling cigarettes the same thing as tobacco and nicotine when in fact they are poisoning the cigarettes and blaming the side effects on nicotine instead of the poison. Will try high quality tobacco in a pipe next.
@ads94116 Жыл бұрын
Nicotine is what makes you addicted, and it doesn't give you ANY ADVANTAGE, no motivation no more focused absolutely ZERO. You think that you feel better only because you temporarily stop the nicotine withdrawal symptoms that were making you miserable, nicotine creates this vicious circle from the beginning. DO NOT FALL for the trap, if you want a real explanation about the nicotine trap and how to stop it read Allen Carr book. Trust me you are rationalizing a dangerous addictive behavior that will only lead you towards misery.

I bought my first e-cig back in June of 2014, intending fully to use it while continuing to smoke analog cigarettes, but in hopes that I could reduce the number of analog cigarettes I consumed each day. Much to my surprise, I very quickly found myself reaching for the e-cig rather then the pack of analogs, and within 2 weeks (yes, fourteen calendar days) I found that I could no longer tolerate the taste of analog cigarettes and had completely quit. I smoked analog cigarettes for 24 years, with a frequency ranging between a half pack and four packs a day (mostly due to stress and other external factors) and had attempted to quit by virtually every meaningful method available. I am reaching the completion of my second year of being analog cigarette free, and have in that span of time gone from my starting nicotine level of 24mg/ml (2.4% bv) down to 3mg/ml (0.3% bv). I do not consider e-cigs as being a lifetime replacement for nicotine delivery, but as an effective means to slowly wean myself off the use of nicotine completely. I will decide if I continue to vape once I have moved to a completely nicotine free juice once I get there. This is just my personal experience, but I am not alone, and I love it.

It's simple really. Ask yourself why people do not get addicted to nicotine patches. I've used them in the past, but went back to smoking. If nicotine = addiction, how does one explain this? Nicotine is nicotine, right?
@VapeJohn9 жыл бұрын
John Smith not to mention the nicotine patches come in such a small ammount of Mg compared to a regular cigarette which has 24 Mg of nic.
@EmVapes9 жыл бұрын
John Secuila A regular cig has about 9 mg once it's lit. The fire degrades it. Also nicotine without the other chems in tobacco isn't as addictive. This has been proven and that is why NRT users go back to smoking.
@freshbaked55459 жыл бұрын
Where the hell are y'all getting these numbers? If you just google search how much nicotine is in a cigarette it lists a range between 0.9 & 2.4mg 24mg of nicotine? Wtf?!!
@VapeJohn9 жыл бұрын

@devrinator9 жыл бұрын
John Smith One explanation would be that smoking presents a combination of a habit and a physiological addiction. So, if you get used to fixing your nic fit through the motions required to get it (lighting a cigarette, bringing it to your mouth then inhaling), the patch doesn't satisfy the mental satisfaction of actively getting your nicotine. That's one of the reasons vaping is so valuable in helping smokers reduce harm. They are glued to the habit/routine and addicted to the nicotine/chemical combo. Plus, vaping is a pleasurable experience. It's something the user does actively. A patch is passive with zero enjoyability in it. I believe there is something to the chemical soup in cigarettes that can exacerbate a strong addiction in many people. For me, personally, I accidentally stopped smoking cigarettes a few days ago, and that's unheard of. Now that I switched to vaping, I find I don't feel glued to it and I can go for long spurts of time without that panic I had when I knew I couldn't smoke for a while.

The question I ask if Nicotine by itself is so harmless,why are so many people becoming addicted to vaping nicotine? On the other side, I’ve had a friend stop smoking cigarettes because he could control the nicotine in his vape, and weaned himself off of the vape.
@dronepilotcanadian64278 жыл бұрын
I stated this in another forum , The first 2 weeks are the hardest to transition over from cigarettes to vaping due to the initial cough and withdrawal from the other chemicals added to cigarettes by the tobacco companies to enhance the addiction , but as for nicotine, that shit is highly addictive, I am at 3 mg now down from 24 which was my starting point, I tried 0 mg but I'm not ready lol I lasted a while but still felt the need for it . I can say for sure it is easier by far to go long periods without nicotine alone and I have been able to lower my intake quite comfortably. I'm mixing 0 mg with 3 mg juice starting today before I attempt 0 again . Vaping is definitely harm reduction and an excellent invention. 18 months cigarette free and I feel amazing 😯😈 😤😇

Smokers at my old 90:s workplace had a strange ritual where we used to meet in the designated smoking spot. All levels of management to the lowest paid worker would cease being people at work and become social animals. Lots of gossip, friendship, disputes settled and relationships started. Management would say shit to the smoker crowd that they would never say elsewhere, we had all the big company news first. Sounds weird but it was a legit phenomenon and workplace communication channel. The non smokers were always outside the loop and last to know anything important.

It is better than smoking cigarettes, but the nicotine addiction is still here and still does things to your body like increasing overall heartbeat rate and blood pressure, risks to several kinds of strokes, dictating your daily organization etc. I've quit cigs 6 years ago for good but been vaping since. I'm 3 weeks vape free and I'm still craving although I was on 6mg juice. It won't save your life, maybe extend it a bit. Or maybe even cigs wouldn't make you die early, who knows.

VINDICATED!!! I know vid was posted 8 years ago, but I just found it. I quit cigs for a vape about 2 years ago. Ever since I've been telling people that's lots more in cigs than just Nicotine to get hooked on. I know it's a subjective perception (me being me), but the 2-3 weeks after swapping from one to the other were HORRIBLE! Nicotine intake was un-interrupted, but withdrawl was still a very real, and terrible experience! Try and find good support for any of the other 7000 chemicals in cigs being a contributing factor to addiction is tough.

+Forl0rn Kingd0m Unless your physician is specializing in nicotine & vaping related problems he probably knows less than a vaper who's done his research. General practitioners aren't gurus who know everything about the human body, they're more like walking medical encyclopedias and like encyclopedias need to be updated and revised every year, your MD should be keeping in touch with the latest research on certain subjects (most don't). I'm obviously not telling you not to trust your doctor, but you shouldn't take everything he says at face value. A GP is meant to treat common medical problems in the population and point you towards a specialist for the things they know nothing/very little about. A lot of them think they know better than they actually do because of their degree and years of studying. Just look at the shocking amount of MDs who claim vaping is the coming of the anti-christ and as dangerous as analogs while most research points to the opposite being true. Your doctor is a biased human just look you and I, not a machine operating on logic only.

This is honestly blew my mind and the more I think of it... I once tried my brother's vape, which contains 3mg of nicotine, and I don't feel any sorts of "addiction" or the feeling that I wanted more. My baseless experiments also went as far as buying a 12mg, and later 50mg nic salt and the only thing I felt was the strong throat hit (LOL) but beside that, still no addiction whatsoever. In fact, I can focus better when I tried my brother's nicotine infused liquid, but no addiction. After watching this and several other self researches then I knew that nicotine by itself is not so addictive. hmmmmmm I wish I can download this video, and put an indonesian subtitle on it so that I can share this vdeo to my non english speakers so they would understand that I'm trying to help them getting out from cigarettes.
