I bought the citrus attachment, and did so for good reason… Whenever I’m really sick with a cold (which is rare), my body is craving orange juice. I also like it as a comfort beverage when I’m sick. But I am in no mood to do a proper juice, let alone clean a juicer. I have always wished I had a citrus extractor to quickly make juice and not have to spend any effort cleaning up after. This citrus extractor is beyond perfect. I don’t look forward to ever needing to use it, but I know I will about once a year. And that’s a good enough reason (for me) to have it.

I’m really happy they came out with a citrus juicer attachment. It was totally unexpected! I’m definitely buying it. I love the idea of just slicing my oranges. I’m not going to peel all the oranges and then throw them in a juicer. I’d then have to clean the juicer afterwards. The citrus juicer attachment makes life easier. Plus I could easily make lemonade or limeade if I wanted to.

Thanks John I got the C2 last week and just ordered the new large hopper which will be a great upgrade for daily juicing. Update: The large hopper is the bomb! Love it, it's amazing. I also ordered the citrus attachment and don't like it. It clogs with pulp too easily, it takes forever, it's hard on your hands and wrists if you do a lot at one time, and now I see Nama recommends cleaning it out after EACH FRUIT?! yeah that won't take all week if you're doing bulk juicing. I wondered if the manual citrus press juicer would be better and watched your video comparing it with an electric juicer from a few years ago. I was going to order the manual one until I saw your points here on extra polyphenols and nutrition benefits including the pith. So I'm going to return the Nama citrus attachment and rather get the citrus peeler and use the C2. I recommend buying a case of organic lemons at a time from Azure Standard, juicing them all, using an electric jar sealer (learned about this in YOUR VIDEOS!! THANK YOU) and freezing the juice in pint jars. Save a lot of time and money. I'm also dehydrating the peel and grinding it into vitamin c powder. So every part is used.
@jessicalatten71738 ай бұрын
I think a fair comparison would be to include the amount of time it took you to skin the oranges.
@discountjuicers8 ай бұрын
With the Pelamatic Orange Peeler Pro, it took less than 30 seconds to peel each orange. Surely juicing the whole oranges that I show will take LONGER to juice than simply cutting them in half and squeezing out the juice. So if your TIME is more important than NUTRITION, then of course, juice your oranges with the nama citrus attachment. However, if nutrition is more important, as I show in this video, you can get 17x more antioxidants and 4.4x more polyphenols by using the method I show. That being said, nobody has probably ever showed you this before, since most people are happy juicing oranges the normal way they have forever.

The gel is not bad!!! It's good! So when it gels consider yourself lucky!!! The gel is all the pectin fiber solidifying. Pectin fiber is really good for your gut health. Hey there, John. How's it going? I have to say that you are an awesome reviewer of these wonderful juicers and so forth. I have been following your Discount Juicers KZbin channel for a long time now and you present a lot of great insights. Ever since I was a kid back in the 1990s, I have been juicing a lot of various fruits and vegetables with my dad for a very long time and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Over the years, we have used all kinds of different juicer brands and they were quite a variety. As a longtime juicer myself, I have some great insights that I would like to bring to the table in regards to what I have heard about juicing and so on. Juicing fruits and vegetables of all types has always been a very healthy thing and it's all about taking control of our health to get healthy so that we can live longer. For a very long time now ever since juicing first became popular in the 1970s or so, a lot of us have always been fascinated by the new juicing machines that had promised to transform our lives. However, too many of those juicers that were going to transform lives are now sitting in so many places such as shelves and pantries collecting dust. John, it would be great if you can continue to make new videos like this and you are awesome as always. However, it would also be great if you can start making new videos by sharing your knowledge and commitment to health when it comes to a manner that can inspire all of us to dust off and reclaim our juicers again whether they are old or new. We definitely need to bring juicing back to life as it needs a whole new comeback and resurgence. Otherwise, please keep it up and don't ever stop. Thank you, John.

Hey John, thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I have also seen what you said. I will work on making some content to get people BACK into juicing. I’ve juiced grapefruit with the pith, and the juice turns into a jelly when I vacuum seal it and store it in the frig. It’s kinda weird to drink, as it’s like a grapefruit pudding. I wonder if the same will happen with the orange juice, if the pith acts like a thickener?
@discountjuicers8 ай бұрын
In citrus pith there is PECTIN, and is a soluble fiber that will GEL up. This can occur with all citrus fruits depending on the specific fruit. To me this is a good thing. When that happens, I eat the juice with a spoon. This is what makes the juice more nutritious IMO. IF you dont want it, dont juice the pith! The pectin will feed your microbiome!

@discountjuicers8 ай бұрын
I did test it in the video; kzbin.info/www/bejne/kImpiaGmf8aNY6s I can tell you between the nama and kuvings citrus attachments, there is no comparison, the Nama citrus attachment has a stainless steel strainer, the Kuvings is plastic. Also the Nama J2 is a continuous juicer since the juice comes out the spout, where as the kuvings has a limited capacity since it is caught in a small pitcher. Between the two, I choose the nama attachment, that being said the best is to peel your oranges and other citrus as I show in this episode.

Obviously I haven't read the study yet, but does the 17 polyphenols apply to grapefruit and other citrus as well?
@discountjuicers8 ай бұрын
The study only involved oranges, but I would surmise that All citrus juices would be more nutritious if you also juice the white pith instead of juice squeezing out colored water that is normally done on citrus. That being said, juicing the pith will change the flavor of the juice.
