Thank you so much for making this video, my son already bit two different teachers. This honesty helped a lot because my son doesn’t bite at home but he already bit two teachers at daycare and he has been getting speech therapy too and special instructions

Nice video content! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Trentvorty Kids Science Theorem (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for becoming an excellent parent minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my good mate called Gray after a lifetime of fighting got excellent success with it

Thank you - very helpful! I have to admit, the Karen Katz book that was recommended only mentions biting on one page, and then goes into other behaviors. The rest of the recommended list was great!

I know this video is old but this was so helpful thank you! I have a 14 month old who bites and from this video I was able to figure out several reasons that I think she's biting. Teething, sensory seeking, and frustration. Now I know what to do to help in each situation. She's also just learning how to give kisses and sometimes gets her teeth over involved. She loves giving kisses.

Thank you for this video. I've been having so much trouble with my 3 year old at her day care and biting. Both me and her Dad have tried telling her no biting. I'm going to try reading as I did that with potty training and it seemed to help. The social worker at the school suggested consequences like taking away a favorite toy but I feel that will not help at her age she is to young to understand.

My 1 year old is a very mild and sweet little dude. He loves to entertain by making doing things to illicit reaction. Waving, making faces and noises for response (“aww” “you’re so silly” “rawr! baby bear”). Recently he has been scratching and biting but it seems for my reaction. I say my reaction because he only does it to me. He giggles when I say “ouch” and goes for another chomp or hand swipe. I say things like “That really hurts, no biting. Be gentle please” and show him gentle/love touch. He doesn’t seem to understand “pain” and thinks it’s play. I’ve cried for real once which did surprise him and gave me love but on the whole he seems to think it’s play. He’s typically super super gentle (even when eating) so I’m sure he’s not intentionally hurting me but I’m covered in bruises and am dressing strategically now like a battered woman. I’m not sure what to do.

My son started biting after turning 3, from what i have seen is in self defense, and frustration. He is at Day care and Pre-school. He is not an aggressive child, and understands that bitting is not ok because as soon as he does it, he gets upset, and tells himself “no biting”. But he has not been able to replace that behavior with a favorable one.

Hi there! I just saw this comment. Hope it’s gotten better! Since he seems to cognitively understand, perhaps it’s just a matter of him gaining more impulse control and self-regulation ability as he gets older.

Hello, thank you for the video. My son is two and just started biting himself when he's really frustrated. Usually at the start of a time out or when I drop him off at daycare. He's really hard to calm once he's going. He hasn't bitten anyone else YET, but I'm afraid it will escalate. He LOVES his daycare, they say he stops crying within 5 minutes... it's just that transition that triggers him. I feel when I linger, it makes him more hysterical. I've tried giving him hugs, comforting words, talking him out of his anxiety and try to calm him down, but it seems to make it worse. Putting him down, walking away and leaving feels like I'm not being attentive to him emotions. Any suggestions, or is the quick band aid pull the best route?

Hi, thank you for the video. I watched all the way through because I’m a mother of a suddenly aggressive biter at 5 yrs old. He’s had the very rare instance of biting in the past but as of the last 2 months he has become increasingly defiant, increasingly aggressive, and im honestly not sure how to correct this. what led me here today was my son biting me on the stomach hard enough to draw blood. The most confusing aspect of the situation was the fact that we were having fun together only a moment before it happened. I think the reason was that I decided to end the play time at that moment and he wanted to continue playtime.

p.s. I should add my son has developmental delay alongside an ADD diagnosis just for some context. He has not spoken yet either. the odd word maybe here and there but nothing consistent enough to be considered speech.

One person was working at a nursery. There was a toddler who bit other kids. The way she stop this kid from biting others, she pulled that kid hair when he was biting other kid. This kid understood that it hurts. Of course she did unnoticed to that biting kid. That kid learned this lesson and biting stopped.

I came across this video while searching for a good video to help with my biting toddler. So basically my daughter is 23 months and she is a very good kid. Very loving and caring with other kids and adults. It’s just this one kid who usually comes over with his elder sister to play with my daughter that my daughter bites. They basically play in my daughter’s room with her toys and she’s had some trouble sharing which I think is normal because for the most part she shares. But she just doesn’t get along with the boy who is a year older than her but is very petite so looks much smaller than her. Today she bit him so hard and Ofcourse I intervened quickly and made her stop and immediately tend to the boy and told my daughter to stop and was firm with her. Then she hugged him and things were fine for a bit but again she wanted to bite but I stopped her before it happened. With my daughter I think she’s being territorial or possessive of her things but is there something I need to do or can do to control this behaviour?

Krissi Rhoades figure out the cause and then treat the problem. My child always bites me in the morning because I'm groggy and he's bored. He's always bored and loves attention so as soon as I see those teeth coming for me I. Say please don't bite me, be nice. Here let's go feed the dog or play with your toy.

My 2.7 year old has been dismissed from daycare for biting twice now. He bit over 25 times in his new daycare he was only at for one month. Now we have to find another daycare but we will face the same problem. There’s no one else who can help watch him so I’m on my own b/c dad is away.
