There was a police officer in Hongkong. He was in a store shopping, no uniform. He practice many many kung fu and was really great. A man from China come in and had a pistol. The officer believed in his skills and was sure, he can handle the situation and attacked the robber. But maybe the Mainlander was special forces of chinese army before. He was quick and did not react like expected. He only said to the police officer, and now? What now? Then he shoot him down and since this day the police man sits in a wheel chair. In the shop are CCTV, so it was totaly unnecessary to risk his life and health for money. You never know who is the bad guy. Tsui Po-ko (Chinese: 徐步高) (17 May 1970 - 17 March 2006) was a police constable in the Hong Kong Police Force. He was a murder and bank robber. He thought nobody would catch him, because he know all police tactics. He died in a shooting at Tsim Sha Tsui. I was in HK that days. My master in HK told me, best block is city block. When I asked him about it, he answered: Run away! Now I am old, so running is also not easy for me. In China there is a story. A man selling spear and shield on a market. My spear is the best on the world. Every shield would be useless. After some time he changed and said to the customers: My shield is the best, no spear can go through. One customer asks him: What would happen if your spear meets your shield? Thats the story here also. Master Wong is really good and fast, right? And the real question is, would I give him my mobile, if he attacks me with his knife like in the video? In Chen Style Tai Ji if the hand is grabed like this, it doesn't matter. Only follow the direction the hand is turned and step forward and downwards into the opponent. This is part of many sword forms in Chinese Wushu against this kind of block and grab. So, this technic will only work, if the attacker did not practice chinese sword forms. And because Master Wong knows Chinese Kung Fu, I am sure, the block would not work against his attack. I also saw Pencak Silat in Indonesia and Malaysia. They practice Karambit and using a knife is very common to them. I do not know their skills, but maybe they also have against this grab. Who really believe he can defend against a knife, should first go to a doctor. If his heart is ok, he can buy a Electro Shock Knife and than he will feel the result directly.

This is exactly why I have pepper spray and other things on me/ in my house. Unarmed fighting against a knife is fucking stupid. Sorry. I've been practicing martial arts for a few years now and the best thing my instructor did in jujitsu/ judo is have us knife fight. White shirts and markers to represent knives. I Literally took back and got control of the arm but was stabbed 3 times in the thigh while doing so. Right before it when I grabbed him I was slices across the chest. And wrist. Fuck that. I'll give the money up for my life. If I can I shoot the fucker dead. Martial arts have their place but weapons evolve

Goblin Slayer Otzi the iceman was discovered with cuts going across his palms from when somebody with a flint knife attacked him while he was hunting. He died, he likely tried to stop the knife with his palms and got cut, he then tried to run away, but the attacker tracked him down, shot him in the back with an arrow, and finished him off with a club to the skull when he was crawling from them. This has been happening since the first knives, which is far before the days of otzi. He was the first of his people to have a copper tool, and somebody killed him for unknown reasons, likely that person was jealous or mad at him. It’s better we learn from all these years of combat experience, which dates back to the days of the first flint tools, over a million years ago when early ape like humans discovered how to make hand axes and knives from obsidian and flint. This knowledge that Wong has will get you killed.

You can never fully prepare for a knife attack even if the person with the knife has no training with knives. Most homicides are a hunting type scenario, the man with the knife creeps up from behind you (he could be coming from the front or sides while concealing the weapon) and stabs you repeatedly and as fast as possible. His hands will come out of the grip that you’ve applied with your hands because when the attacker pulls back to stab again, you’ll get cut to pieces. You’re more fragile than what you’d like to think, as the very tendons that move your fingers to control the grip could be sliced in two if you fuck up a frontal attack defense like the one wong showed. If you can’t run or you’re worried that he will outrun you, and if you’re going to wrestle him, go all in, or all out. Try to trap the weapon under your arm, put him to the ground if you like, and strike all the most vulnerable parts of his body, like his eyes, the center of his chest, etc. You do this until he can no longer attack you, or you keep him at bay with kicks. Anyways, why not arm yourself with a firearm to defend against knives? Or pepper spray? You could use pepper spray to blind the attacker so you can get to safety after shoving him back, or you can shoot him a few times in the chest and kill him when you shove him back to stop the stabbing? You’re going to be stabbed in the chest with the goal in mind being to pierce a vital organ which will most likely kill you.

basicaly the more effective system is to try to control the knife and not the hands. this method is a risk bcz the mdn with the knife can pull his hand and slide the knife to the inner palm and fingers.
