My favourite time of the year to visit Japan is summer! 🌞 Many people rule out the summer months due to the rainy season, heat and humidity, but visiting during summer does have some advantages! It really doesn't actually rain every day, you get plenty of day light hours and accommodation is much cheaper. Many places are pleasantly uncrowded and some spots which usually get swarmed by tourists during spring or autumn are super quiet and serene. I literally found myself to be the only visitor at some temples or shrines. 🤯 Also I absolutely love the scenery in Japan during summer, especially in the countryside! 🌻 Lush green maple trees and rice fields, the sound of cicadas and gorgeous flowers everywhere. 🥰 Kamakura is a wonderful place to visit while the hydrangea flowers (ajisai) are in full bloom and there are a few beaches as well to cool off. Summer also has some amazing festivals! I was lucky to catch some events of the Gion Matsuri festival while in Kyoto, which were remarkable. Highly recommend to visit Japan during the summer months if you're able to cope with some heat and humidity. Plus it's Japan so you're never far from a vending machine to keep you hydrated. 😉 Just don't forget to bring sunscreen and mosquito spray with you! 😅 Otherwise you get to pack light for a summer trip as you don't need warm clothes - so you got more space in your bags to bring loads of stuff back home with you. 😁👌🏻
