As a life long Torontonian this was a great video. You could have gone into the arts, museums, outdoor spaces more, but you touched on them. Threw in some Hamilton for good measure too :D I'm glad to hear you like the diversity and the food. We don't really have anything else except people, people from everywhere, no mountains, no specific industry, not many unique monuments or much history, but we do have people and what they bring. Welcome!

I think I feel very similarly about Hamilton as you do about Toronto. It wasn't the city I grew up in. Yes it has flaws but it's dramatically changed me over the almost 9 years that I have been here. I'm very grateful to be where I am now and couldn't think of a better for me a my family to grow and live together. I am glad we both found our homes away from home. 😊

As someone who visits once a year from Montreal I find so far the best way to commute Toronto is by motorcycle. Despite lane splitting being illegal, locals are respectful & understanding & make way for you to pass. Here in Montreal I’ve had drivers swerve into me or even open doors to stop me from passing.

Great video, Canoopsy👍I was born and grew up in Toronto and thought there was no place better on earth. Until the company I sold for asked me if I would take over the western Canada territory. I moved to Vancouver in 1994 and never looked back. In 2008 I moved to a small community 40 minutes northwest of greater Vancouver where I live about a 12 minute walk from the ocean, which is even better. A few things I don't miss about Toronto: freezing cold and often brutal winters; the stifling humidity in the summer; the endless density from Oshawa to St. Catherines and beyond; Pearson Airport. I fly back to Toronto twice a year to visit siblings in Toronto, Bowmanville and Oshawa, and usually spend a couple of days wandering around downtown T.O., but I don't feel any draw or connection to the city. I never would have believed that I could leave the city I loved and never miss it.

You got me on this post, tears and lots of emotions. Texas is home now 20+ years, but I was born and raised in Metro Detroit. Toronto was my 2nd home because we were there almost every other month, even to the point of every other weekend when my Mom started dating a guy there. Yep, knew all the places most travelers & tourist don't know. Food glorious food from everywhere!! Eventually, of course, I grew up and left Detroit 2 days after graduation. I was like you, even though I grew up in the suburbs I hated the weather and the city. Montreal became my new spot to visit years later on my own from wherever I was living. The parts I cried were the being alone, your cat story, and when you went home. No matter how much we dislike our hometown, it's still home and formed us. I cried so hard my last trip to Detroit, it has changed gloriously, but I still don't want to live there 😂😂 Great video of the other city that was the catalyst to me traveling to destinations many people would be shocked a black kid from Detroit has visited. Thank you and Thank the Province of Ontario for great memories

Yesss, Sonic Boom! Single biggest contributor to my small cassette collection. I've been in Toronto juuust about 2 years now, originally from Calgary. I love it here. Transit is a bit rough around the edges, but I rely on it pretty much exclusively (and walking, of course), and it's held up. In Calgary, car ownership was pretty much mandatory outside the inner-most inner city. Here, nah. What I absolutely love are all the well-established, small, family-owned shops and restaurants like everywhere. My place in midtown is surrounded by green-grocers, all within like 3 minutes from my front door, and I can get most of my daily food for hilariously cheaper than it would be at Loblaw's et al. And all the tiny, cash-only restaurants in Chinatown are just heaven. You can spend a lot on a nice meal here, but you can also get a full meal for like $4 if you know where to look. Also your cats are fucking gorgeous.

This was just more than a video about what to do in Toronto, it was also a snapshot of how you've grown in this city. I've travelled extensively to great cities and Tokyo is hands down my favorite, but I always come back home to Toronto, and you pretty much nailed it, it's her people. And people have come in waves as different nationalities seem to come in batches over the years.. anyway, the city is ever changing and sometimes, it doesnt know where it's going. There are definitely challenges and I'm glad you've highlighted them. Nevertheless, the city continues to infuse the different perspectives and it has done so for several decades. Will Toronto ever establish it's own identity, who knows, and does it really matter? I guess the journey there is what makes this city interesting.

Thank you for this very transparent and heartwarming depiction of Toronto. As someone who grew up in the GTA, went to school downtown, and is currently at the age of trying to save up for a house, moving elsewhere has been a constant thought. Especially after just coming back from Tokyo, an almost ideal depiction of what I’d always thought a city should be, I find it hard to recommend to people things to do here or why they should visit. But it hit home when you highlighted how fast Toronto is changing and how diverse we are. I’ve gotta agree, some of the best parts of the city are really in the small business and neighbourhoods surrounding the city and kudos to you for giving them a spotlight. This vid really allowed me to see our city from a different perspective and reminds me why despite its problems, Toronto will always be home. Great work!!

i love videos that talk about how great the city still is. you know last few years everybody is toronto bashing like crazy but i've been to a lot of other cities, yes toronto was easier pre-pandmeic but almost every major city in 2024 is also experiencing a housing crisis, lay offs, and food inflation. like it aint perfect but for most people unless you got some balling job offer in another city with a visa lined up, toronto is still a good place to be

Great video, but as someone who lives in Toronto for the last 10 years, this city’s charm wears off pretty fast when you realize how unaffordable, overcrowded and disorganized a lot of things are (not saying all things). There is beauty in chaos always, but it certainly hasn’t been close to an upward trend as of late. Go to Chicago and majority of residents proudly say it’s the best city. Toronto doesn’t have that same pride for a reason.

As someone who actively avoids the downtown core- it's really odd seeing a video about Toronto showcasing all the places I recognize. From each scene to the next, I react "Oh this place! It's by ___ and ___". I strictly only see people on my social media visiting Toronto's downtown core and visiting only the hyped places like Badiali's (to be fair, they do have good pizza). Still, it hurts to see them only scratch the surface of Toronto's culture. You know more about Toronto than a good 90% of the people I know who live in Toronto or around the GTA. Love this video mate.

My girlfriend and I are moving to Toronto from Vancouver and we have a cat so we looked into pet ownership in Toronto. We are renters and this is my understanding of Ontario law regarding pet ownership. A landlord can refuse to rent to you if you have a pet but pet ownership cannot be the basis for eviction. I dunno, I figured this might help if anyone is watching this gearing up to move to Toronto considering Canoopsy talks about his can adoption.

Big cities look nice from far away and stretching your neck to see the buildings is fun but the commute isn't fun, to me it's crowded. Where I live, the small streets are curvy with grass fields and a bike path that connects to the sidewalk. The big roads are away from people. Toronto looks great though.
