I would take pictures and document when the cake was made, how long you kept it, how many times to tried to contact her just in case and then maybe donate the cake or gift it to someone. Happy you didn’t lose money though!

Situations happen to people... I remember when my mum died suddenly, someone she does business with came to our house totally unaware and was calling out for her from the backyard. I formulate and sell botanical body products. A regular customer ordered a huge amount of products and paid in full with shipment fund to the UK then she went quiet which was unlike her. I reached out a couple of times and there was no response. Then months later, she sent me a message that read "breast cancer." I was shaken because she had become a friend over the years of purchasing from me. After a while she contacted me and gave me the full story. She is battling cancer and couldn't be bothered with skincare supplies. It's been about 4 months now. I check on her every week and bring up her order still with me but she has her chemo sessions to worry about. I think you should take pictures of the cake, keep a record of all your attempts to reach her then give the cake to the needy. Maybe take a picture of your giving it away too then move on. When she reaches out then you will have that conversation...
