"And they'll know that we are Christians by our love by our love."

I usually struggle with this. Introverts can be Christians too, and we can also get pretty detached. Jesus was certainly an extrovert. I find myself more the scholar, granted things like reading very quickly but poor socialization. But this is so love based, and then I look around and ask, "Love who, exactly?" For I am not really bonded with anyone. I was given the gift of celibacy, and don't really form strong friendships either.
@CalebForslund

Well, Jesus actually answered that very question. You've probably heard of the story of the Good Samaritan before, when the lawyer who prompted the story responded that it was a Samaritan that showed love towards the hurt man; what do you think went on inside the head of the man beaten by robbers *before* his journey? A racist thought against Samaritans? How better it would've been to take a longer yet safer road? What he'd do after his journey? No one really knows, and that's actually the point. It's not wrong to want to know the circumstances behind what happened; but the point of showing God's love isn't just knowing about a situation. It's about loving others in spite of the situation. That's the love Jesus showed to us, and being God, He knows everything about us.

Hey friend! I just saw your post. I know I'm a little late to reply, but I felt compelled to reach out. First of all, I want to challenge you a bit on your calling Jesus an actual extrovert. Hear me out! ;) I actually like to joke that Jesus was a total introvert, but His pure love pushed through all that. If you look closely at scripture, Jesus sought solitude a lot! lol Granted, He used that solitude to pray and be with His Father in Heaven, but can you imagine the difficulty of being in human flesh, dealing with crowds pushing around you 24/7, AND hearing all their thoughts to boot? He even said in Matthew 17:17: 'You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you?' Any human other than Christ would have most likely imploded in a few moments. I believe that Jesus understands the introvert's plight in the struggle to socialize. I'm a true introvert myself and I've kind of delved into these topics and studied in the Word to find help in this matter. What I find is both challenging and comforting! Romans 8:13 talks about "dying to self"...not something that comes easy when our flesh doesn't want anything to do with God. Jesus told us we must be born again. Once I became born again and completely changed my thinking, my actions, in my life, I began to feel a love that I couldn't even comprehend for random strangers on the street(or commentators on youtube. ;)! ) I am an extremely awkward and shy soul, but when I surrendered to Jesus...told him I was scared, but that I wanted to be obedient to Him and follow Him, He gave me a passion for the lost and a sacrificial love for my brothers and sisters in Christ. I also wanted to be like my Savior and pick up my cross daily for Him....that meant pushing aside my introverted self for a higher calling. Some days are better than others. I trip up a lot and sometimes struggle with severe anxiety, but Jesus ALWAYS rescues me and carries me through. Friend, you said, "love who, exactly?" ....Have you prayed that God would put more love in your heart? Have you prayed for 'someone to love' as Jesus loves you? Are you dying to self? Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not judging you AT ALL, and I struggle with these same things a lot and I don't know anything about you. I just know myself...and I know that Jesus has given me everything I need and uses me despite my introversion. In fact, being introverted is a gift! We are slow to speak, my friend! We are quiet, sometimes patient, and meek....these are good qualities and all of God's children have a place in the Body of Christ. Also, you don't need to be in a marital relationship to love deeply. That is a lie many churchgoers like to promote, but it just isn't true. Many of the early Christians chose to be celibates or eunuchs as they planted the seeds of the gospel. But love is still a command of Jesus and the most important thing we can do for others. If you've been hurt by anyone, I just want to say that I'm so sorry. If you need healing, I will absolutely pray for you...and if you're content with where you are, I would simply challenge you to dig deeper. Search for Jesus, surrender, repent of any unconfessed sins(that might hinder you from growing in Christ), and see what you find...see what happens. There is a place for you in God's kingdom! There is a place for you in the body of Christ. Don't listen to the enemy that makes you doubt that. Leap in and trust the Savior. Ask Him audibly about love in your prayer time. :) I hope this message is encouraging and does not in any way come across as rude or haughty. I guess I just love and care about you without even needing to know you. Because Jesus does that. He's amazing. God bless you, dear friend.

I really needed this. I really struggle with someone who says they are a Christian and flaunts it (ex. When in a group, and he hears someone tell the rest of us something unkind somebody they met did, he'll say, 'Well, as a Christian, I'd never do that') but then his life doesn't reflect how we are called to live - he gets drunk, does all kinds of drugs, gambles and loses thousands of dollars, and doesn't care about the strain all this creates on his marriage). He shouts he's saved by grace yet ignores the rest of scripture that says we will be known by our fruit. As I type this, I realize he's kind of a type of Pharisee. Jesus interacted with Judas in a very different way than the Pharisees.

Worry for him. Get personal with him and ask him how his relationship with Jesus is. If you notice the sin or errors our brother is going through, point scripture that judges that behavior. Tell them about it if God places it in your heart to do so.

Fellowship is about spending time focused around Christ. Many people go to Church as a country club or because they are socially awkward and it's sort of a judgement free zone. As much as we are called to love everyone we are not called to pretend that someone is actually following after Jesus and become unequally yoked with them. Fellowship is with others who truly know and love him. That can be hard enough as is at times so we need to stop lying and saying that everyone who shows up at a building on Sunday is a true brother and sister in Christ. The way to love someone who is not actually following Christ yet and a brother/sister is completely different

Whether you forgive those who have hurt you and caused you pain or not, God always loves you and wants to be on your side. So I hope that as Christians, forgiveness does not become a source of distress or hurt for you. David also entrusted revenge to the Lord, and in Romans, it is said that God will repay enemies. Therefore, I hope that you entrust the issues of forgiveness and wounds to the Lord and live your life to the fullest. Once again, I hope that forgiveness does not cause you any pain. God always loves you.

What about healthy boundaries? If someone is being downright evil towards me. Then should I continue to hurt myself and destroy myself inside to continue trying to be in fellowship with this person? Like I can forgive them but do I really have to stay around them if it hurts me? Doesn’t God want me to not hurt myself? I really don’t get it… 😕
@EthericalXO
@EthericalXO 4 ай бұрын
No, you aren’t obligated to keep that person around. It’s actually important to have set boundaries, even Jesus had boundaries, they’re established for someone to feel safe, valued, & loved, they’re set in place 2 protect you. Not everyone will find your boundaries beneficial to them but that’s when you have to be ok with that and set them anyways, everyone will love you when you tell them yes or when you allow them to do something that crosses your boundaries, some people want you for what you can do for them, and they don’t want u for who you are. The Devil is here to kill, steal, & destroy, he’ll tell you to keep that person around so that you can continue to live in pain & agony. And No God doesn’t want you to hurt yourself, 1 Corinthians 6:19 “ Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.” He wants you to love yourself, and treat yourself with love. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) 1 Corinthians 5:11 “But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be misled: “Bad company ruins good character.” “ Hope this helps 💟

Definitely decipher for yourself if you are holding a petty grudge or setting a healthy boundary. Forgiveness doesn’t mean there are no consequences, and you don’t have to continue to put yourselves in harm’s way. With that in mind, don’t find a reason to cut out every human who crossed you. Discernment is important here.

I struggle with forgiveness and there are people that I find it impossible to forgive and forget what they’ve done. I think it’s good to forgive others not just for them but because it heals our hearts. Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting what someone did. If they did something wrong we should still remember it because that way we understand why we must be careful about how much we decided to trust someone who has done something wrong. Forgetting what someone did may mean allowing them to break our trust again. Satan the devil he wants to tear apart relationships and he wants to turn friends against each other so they will fight each other when they should be working together to fight him

I was just recently disrespected by a fellow Christian in the church... It was so annoying. My question is, even after i forgive and forget and give grace to the brother. Is it wrong of me to discipline him by limiting his duty and try as much as possible to not give that leverage to allow myself being disrespected again? I don't want to go into details of what happened, but i am way older than this brother and relate to him and give him more access like my mate. So does limiting that access for the purpose of maintaining my respect wrong? After i have forgave him?

Imagine you gave someone a spare key to your house. You gave them the key because you trust them. Now imagine they went into your house and stole from you. You're able to get your stuff back, and you also take the key back, maybe even change the lock entirely. You come to forgive that person and truly hold no resentment towards them. Would it be wrong to not give them the key again? Limiting the possibility of you or other people getting hurt is not wrong, nor is it the same as unforgiveness. It's just taking a precaution. From what I can tell from your situation, it sounds like you just want your key back.

We should definitely try to see the good even in people who can be difficult and annoying,however, there is one woman in my church who goes beyond difficult and annoying. she claims to be a believer but I know her from outside of church and she is actually a narcissist. half of what she says is a lie and most of her lies are intended to make other people look bad. she speaks disrespectfully about our pastor and Elders behind their backs as well. I will always be kind and polite when I run into her at church but that's as far as it goes. she's not someone I will hang out with outside of church, not someone I would ever confide in or even chat with on the phone with. She has many people at our church fooled, but God knows how she really is and I don't believe He wants me fellowshipping with her.

I seriously doubt that the maker of this video and/or the narrator is capable of living up to what is taught in this video. We are human and do feel annoyed. Many times our annoyance is justified.
