It's hard enough to convince the stakeholders of what the project needs, but when you also have to deal with incompetence -- flight should be your main option. Rarely these problems get sorted out. Better find another project.

Don't worry about this blowing up because it will. Distance yourself from this person, keep evidence of your communications and deliveries. If management asks, say you never noticed anything strange about the fake senior. The guy will be axed and management will notice you acted professionally during this whole thing
