Are you willing to persevere to achieve your goals, no matter what? If so, let me know what you are working on below. Give up the excuses in your life before giving up on life. Take 100% responsibility from this point forward and choose to create the future you want. bit.ly/2Cgkcr5

I recently went out on a limb to change my life. I can't stand my job anymore and it's not very allowing of a life outside. There's way more to life than work. I decided to learn how to start my own online business and purchased a course and a web site to learn. With a crazy work schedule, it's taking time, but I won't give up! When I get that going, I'd love to write a children's book(s), do freelance graphic design, and donate to different charities with a portion of the money I make. If you'd have asked me last year, entrepreneurship would have only been a word and a far-off dream to me. I've even used one of Jack's suggestions of writing checks to myself and looking at them 1-2 times a day. And since I'm still green, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them.

I recently joined a network marketing company. It's my dream to make enough money to retire myself and my wife in the next 5 to 10 years. Getting past some of the rejections is the hardest part but I am determined to see my dream come true.

Norm Bolduc According to the law of attraction, maybe you get it when you give up because by giving up, you release resistance to it? Because when you’re trying so hard to get something, you’re in a state of lack and control and by kind of giving up, it’s like you reached a point of “not caring” in a sense. By that account, you’ve stopped resistance! Think of it like when you’re interested in a person and the more you want them, the more they repel you. And as soon as you stop pursuing them, THEN THEY WANT YOU. Well I tend to believe that life treats you kind of how people treat you. I kind of believe you have a relationship with life as you do with people and you get treated as such. Life is a mirror to your inner state.

I am continuing to work toward a desired physique goal after having successfully competed in shows in 2010 all while establishing my name as THE best in event production in Western New York. I purchased The Success Principles in 2015 after leaving my career to pursue a personal training business. After successfully building my own fitness studio and starting my coaching business while working as the Expo Director for the Buffalo Marathon, I shifted gears to pursue event production full-time and now work for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The contributions I am able to make to those living with MS while continuing to coach my clients and lead the Marathons' premiere Health & Wellness Expo are all a result of the laws of attraction and asking for what it is that I visualize. I am SO thankful for discovering Jack Canfield. I learned about him in an article on Tiny Buddha 😊

I have always admired you Jack. I'm in the middle of a comeback after a massive failure. Short story. I come from an abusive family where I was targeted as the scapegoat and my family hated me. I went no contact to save my life, otherwise they would have killed me with their abuse. The abuse created a longstanding problem with dissociative amnesia. 14 years ago I made a disastrous mistake and the resulting bullying creates an episode of dissociative amnesia that lasted 14 years. I only recovered fully in January and decided to pursue my dream of becoming a commercial artist. Unfortunately, it hadn't worked out well. Despite working hard, I'm down to my last few dollars and I'm really sad. I very much need a breakthrough. Watching your video helped.

On Friday 22 November, I will turn 71, so my mentor and I are going to celebrate it by having, what we jokingly call a ‘Board Meeting’ at our favourite restaurant to go over the goals I’ve set, in all areas of my life, for 2020. I’ve called it: My 2020 Vision to make it My Best Year Ever. I’m sure there will be pizza and a glass of red wine involved, but he will give me positive feedback and meaningful input into how they can be achieved. I’m also about to celebrate 33 years in my own business...no chance of giving up!!! Thank you Jack for the timely reminder.

This message came at just the right time for me. I’ve been struggling to find a way to attend a training to become a Certified Quilt Instructor. I was accepted into the training but all these obstacles have been showing up and I’ve been considering not going. It doesn’t mean I’m giving up my dream just delaying it for a year. I’m not sure how I’m going to make it happen this year but I’m determined to not give up.

Wow that was really helpful. I have been working on my project for 6 years 'Designs on Fashion' and have nearly given up several times. When I look back at my work I cannot give-up, I know in my gut my designs is what the marketplace is crying out for. This will fundamentally change one of the most polluting industries on the planet and put the conscious consumer in-charge whilst helping to preserve our precious planets resources. NO MORE LANDFILL. Customised designs for individuals, quality originality, that fits made to be worn and loved. The technology is with us today to make my visions a reality but there are a lot of companies out there who want to see dead. I have gone round and round in ever decreasing circles but I know that the world needs this. I was put on this earth to make this happen even though it has nearly killed me. This will see the light of day somehow, someway. Thank you for your inspiration I so needed it.

What started to be my most beautiful blessing in my career and in fact, i considered it to be a wonderful gift, turned out to be the most difficult, stressful, humiliating and painful thing i experienced. I experienced being discouraged by my co-workers, not being supported emotionally, morally and financially by my very own family and relatives knowing well enough my struggles of being a solo parent of three children, heard clearly being wished "bad luck" by my narcissistic ex husband, failed my two subjects consecutively on my second year of my Masters study and was being bad mouth, ridiculed and judged badly for it by my co-workers (they seemed to be happy of my failure) and even went all the way to tell the school president so i will look such a failure and unworthy to be given and approved of a gov't scholarship, and experienced terrible financial crisis due to some reasons. Now, i am on my last year of my studies and felt giving up. My first two years were terribly painful and i struggled my way out really hard. Facing big hurdles, i doubt myself to finish this one last year. Thank you so much for your uplifting video, it made me pause and think positively about my self and my dream.

Yes, excellent advice, Jack! My heart's goal is to work steadily as a book editor, with authors whose stories and philosophies I admire and resonate with. It's beginning to happen! I'm also an excellent p.r./marketing copywriter, and recently I've found two new clients by taking the initiative to meet in person with people whose ideas and missions truly intrigue me. In my personal life, I've been both widowed and divorced, and now -- finally -- I'm inching toward my goal of meeting my third, final, and probably best husband or live-in mate. Did I mention that I was born in the late 1930s - and that I do indeed look like my photo? "Late developer" doesn't even begin to describe me! I refuse to be a stereotypical "senior citizen." I'm just about to reach the heights in both my business life and my personal life!

A blueprint of what to do when you want to give up (from a letter to my son): Part of being a dad is being able to help your offspring when they feel so low that giving up is their preferred option. It doesn’t matter how old you become, Eli. My dad was giving me advice when he was in his seventies. I was a beneficiary of its worthiness myself when I was about 50. Let me share the experience with you. Rather than detail my tale of woe, I will focus on the solution. Why? Because everybody has a tale of woe and they are all different and devastating. And, while everybody’s issues are different, the solution is always the same and it comes in 3 parts. These 3 keys do not come in any particular order, but they are all connected. The first one that we will discuss is to “Raise the Bar”. Quite simply this means that you must see your situation as it is, without embellishment. You must see it as is and not better than it is or worse than it is. Don’t spend your time explaining to yourself and others why your circumstances are worse than the end of the world. Conversely, don’t spend your time trying to polish a cow pie. A cow pie is a cow pie is a cow pie. To raise the bar requires that you are realistic in the assessment of your situation. We all have some positive attributes. I am reminded of how one of my mentors, Bob Anderson, would help some people during their job interview. He would always ask each candidate to write their name, phone number and best business asset on an index card. Frequently, a person would appear stuck. Bob would ask them if he could help them. They would often respond that they were having trouble identifying their best business asset. Bob would then ask, “Are you breathing?” They would nod. He would tell them, “write it down.” We all have something positive within us because we are all breathing. If you’re stuck, write it down. Then, having made a realistic assessment of your situation, Raise the Bar one notch. Be sure that the aforementioned notch is an achievable goal. The key is to establish some forward progress, some momentum. Raise the bar. Let’s now look at “Change Your Mind”. One of the reasons that most people want to give up is that their minds are locked on a particular paradigm. The angle of their lens is focused in a single direction. Singleness of purpose is a major element of success. It gives you laser focus to achieving a particular desired outcome. As one of the laws of the Universe, it works consistently and without prejudice. Therefore, if you have singleness of purpose in a negative way you will accomplish that outcome just as you will accomplish your purpose when your singleness of purpose is targeted for something positive. To change your mind requires a new paradigm, a new angle of observation. One effective way to accomplish this end is to bombard yourself with new material. Go to the library or the bookstore or online and find a subject that interests you and relentlessly pursue new viewpoints. That’s what I did. Here’s my story. One day a friend of mine started to complain that he couldn’t find work. “I hate O’Bama because now you have to know how to use computers to find work,” said he. “What happened to the good old days when physical labor was valuable?” I responded mechanically to my friend. I told him that the President doesn’t determine need, it’s the marketplace that rules. Go to the library and find something that you are interested in and that is popular. What happened next was an epiphany for me. I was at a very low and frustrating point in my life. My friend didn’t take my advice. I did. That is what motivated me to restart my personal development journey. From there I started to write lessons for you, Eli, because you are the number one thing I’m interested in. That whole situation evolved into sharing my knowledge and mentoring on line as I raised the bar a notch at a time. I was able to rekindle my passion and take it to the next level. I started to respond to internet pundits and, without even trying, over 200 people subscribed to me. Those 200 people are the inspiration to go public with Project Eli. The key piece was to find something that interested me and start absorbing additional viewpoints. The third catalyst to negate the feeling to give up is to open a “Take Charge” account. Fortunately, a good credit rating is NOT an essential prerequisite. You first see where you are, not better and not worse, but see where you truthfully are. You find something that generates your interest. And then you assign yourself some small task to move you forward one notch. Something easy to do. Something to get you started. Something to build momentum. Something that allows you to make progress. Something that gets you to a starting line and you start! You take charge by action that accomplishes something. It doesn’t matter how small it is. You feed your head with viewpoints and move your (m)ass forward. Quite simply it is the law of inertia in action: A body in motion will stay in motion. A body at rest will stay at rest. You must get your body in motion, accomplish something small, make progress, and establish the mindset of moving forward. This formula will create passion and each piece will be fueled by the activity. When you raise the bar you fuel the take charge account with a vision of easy to accomplish activity that begets progress and changes your mind to move forward at an ever-increasing rate. When you open the take charge account you begin movement that fuels you to raise the bar higher and higher by changing your mind to envision bigger and bigger notches to see and conquer. Each time that you change your mind your vision becomes larger and larger requiring greater action as you raise the bar. Each element fuels the other two. It begets a snowball effect. Remember to start as small as it is necessary to guarantee progress. What you will discover is that you resemble that small snowball at the top of the hill that gets larger and larger and moves faster and faster toward the bottom of the mountain. As the snowball moves faster and faster it gains momentum and size until it becomes an avalanche of passion. When you Raise the bar, Change your mind, and Open a take charge account, the only thing that you will give up is the mindset of giving up...Eli's dad
