You can even add "with". Chibi dyed hair gi l is swimming WITH her dog.

What I do is look around and find three objects. Then I combine them. Say I see a pair of scissors, a tissue box, and a toy car. I would draw a tissue box driving a car and getting attacked by scissors. Or I ask my brother for two adjectives and a noun. He might say giant, scary, orange. So that's what I'd draw. That's just how I do it.

CiaoJazza I've turned 50 and suddenly finally started drawing. The book about right hemisphere drawing I always wanted to get, I suddenly discovered in my bookshelf where it has been hiding the last 17(!!) years! OK, I started, by the book. And my four test drawings were much too good!!! I couldn't believe what I had drawn! Yeyyey!! I was over the moon, bragging, showing off ... - but where to go from here? I ONLY wanted to LEARN drawing. NO other goals. But how to top that initial zero to 100 "progress"? I'm actually going the opposite direction! I'd discovered I can do perfect circles. I can't anymore. And finally I am totally paralised. I buy scetchbook after scetchbook, so I don't have to waste the first one on my crises, but with each new one, I'm still CONFRONTED WITH MYSELF the moment I want to begin. That's the hardest! Even doodling scribbling etc is impossible. BUTBUTBUT ... =) I found a little remedy: »»NEWSPAPERS«« Ha-haa! ha--ha-hàaa! On newspapers the scribbling works again. Exercises too. The copying of pictures still won't go. There I'm still stuck stuckstuck ... But honestly, I specially buy newspapers now, with few advertisements. And old cheap softback books: tiptop for exercising. It's as if it contains s.one else's story I'm not confronted with ME so much ...

I mean, it's fulfilling in a way to finish it, but it's just me starting out and trying and trying and trying to make it perfect for 5 hours and then at the end it still doesn't look the way I want it to. It's pretty demoralising. But maybe I should try and draw something without thinking too much and...well, just having fun. Over this summer I want to learn to draw. Thanks for the advice!

Oh man. This first part has made me cry. In a good way. I have been drawing since I was super young and always drew every day. But when I graduated from uni for animation, I was overwhelmed by the challenge ahead of me and somehow my passion for drawing every day died with that stress. A hole year or so passed and I believe I have been struggling with something mentally, but recently I have found that passion again and I am restarting myself. Learning everything from the beginning. What I am trying to say it that I very much related to what you said at the start of this video and it hit me. Honestly, Thank you for making this video. I think you have helped me relise my fears and I will now just do it. Draw. Also, been watching for a long time. Love your work and it’s nice to see an artist that lives near Melbourne like myself.

My process: Start small. Literally. Take the paper and split it into as many little pieces as you want (by using a pencil and drawing lines on it; could be straight lines, could be not). Then, in each of these pieces draw something different: some doodles, some parts of characters, some landscape / other background, some flowers / butterflies, whatever really. When you've filled out all the spaces, look at what you've done. You will for sure see some random elements in most of these drawing spaces that you will like to combine (or explore combining). Take a new piece of paper and draw your combined picture :)

+Draw with Jazza I hope I didn't come off as harsh. That is the only thing I've wanted to mention, as I struggle with it in my own art. I once even just multiply layered greys for shading, and that was horrendous. I also had a huge issue with my old monitor that had some of the worst gamma and contrast that couldn't be fixed. Until I replaced it with a far superior IPS panel, all of my art looked colorful to me but bland and washed out on anyone else's screen. Anyways, thanks for the humble reply! You're leagues ahead of me in art, and I don't even know where to start in animation. Keep up the great work!

For me, it’s not the expectations. Artists say, “just practice” and I decide to, but then I get there, and don’t know what to try.

Krita is great for 2d animating, while-as Pencil 2d is more simple and for smaller projects. For 3d animating, Blender is definitely great. All of these are great and open source.

The only thing you NEED, is the time and patience (And also a paper and pencil, and begin with the end in mind). Search something up on google, and just grab your pencil and start. Doesn't matter if it LOOKS difficult, it won't be as difficult once you start and slowly sketch and break it down. You might have gone halfway, with many mistakes and burned through your whole eraser like I do very often, even maybe given up but once you finish, you'll be thankful you did (it might not look like what you expected it but that's ok, throw it away and start over). See the thing is, nothings stopping you, you're just procrastinating. If electronics distract you ( mute the notifications, mute your chatrooms, mute your friends and focus on you and what you want to do with your time )put them down and just inhale and forget about everything as best as possible. I think I've said enough...

I'm going to tell you all a secret to making good art/animations. Look at other people's art. For example, At first I couldn't draw hind legs on wolves or cats. A couple thousand speedpaints later, I can draw hind legs pretty good. And right now, I can't draw folds. Like at all. Speedpaints here I come. Q°Q

What I have come to do is to grab a sheet of copy paper to remove the worry of wasting paper and then I ruin how white it is by laying on a line somewhere, a quick shhst. If it didn't help I might add a few more, then a few circles and triangles and rectangles and after this unserious scribble I have warmed up and sometimes given me an idea because you might see an idea in a circle, a line or even in the negative space. :)
