By the way hope the new owners know what a super employee they have in you. Enjoy being part of the new set up. Looking forward to seeing the next few videos, behind the scenes.

wow i remember seeing this place a few months back. i was staying at a hilton (or marriott can’t remember) in marathon traveling back and forth to Key West getting my captains license. If i’d known i would have stopped by as i’m a big fan.. grew up on a marina in Upstate NY doing what you do and currently i own a percentage now. Neat stuff.

Great content. I’m planning on retiring in FL and think about the keys all the time. Your videos are not only informative mechanically speaking, but it’s nice to see you sharing these other aspects of boat ownership. Thank you for what you do.

Wanted to say thank you for your channel its been great I am in Oxnard California and it is so hard to find someone that can work on a older boat/2 stroke engine. I have been to 3 different companys and they could not fix my boat problems correctly so I had to start to do it myself. So thanks for teaching us so much keep up the good work.

Definently interested in how and what parts you keep in stock and any side projects you might try. As an example, on my dad's 1992 Merc 115, the float in the oil tank went bad and dropped down. Thankfully a local Marina (we were traveling) was able to install a new oil tank. Another would be the mechanics at Specialty Marine in Waco, TX (local service) put some Honda carbs on a Mercury 4 stroke years ago and then after recording how quiet the outboards were, Mercury had them send in the units. What I've really gotten into lately is the crossover of brands. I learned about TMC (Tohatsu/Mercury joint venture) last year and then I'm finding about how Yamaha rebranded their 225 for Mercury in 2006 and then some of the early Mercury 4 strokes used a Yamaha powerhead. Along those same lines, the reason why Mariner got a bad reputation is Mercury licensed a Yamaha originally and that was also how Yamaha was able to enter the North American market.

I know I'm off the topic, but could you make a video about pro's and con's of RIB's, and maybe a comparison between different manufacturers: Brig, Highfield, Zodiac, etc? There are very-very few video with RIB and I'd really love to know your take on them. Thanks.

Ive had so many bad experiences with marinas, I don’t even want to talk about it. I’m Blessed I can do the work myself, but getting parts is unreal sometimes. Especially when you don’t know your model number and the freeze plug is stamped with “RME” instead of the serial number (used engine). But thanks to you and others like you, she purrs like a kitten. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Your opening drone shots of boats in dry storage created a question in my mind. I noticed the boats were stacked three or four high in racking and I assume they are inserted and retrieved using a forklift. The question is how these boats weather hurricane-level storms without "blowing off" the racks? I didn't see any tie-downs holding them in place.

Boat yards are cool. Coincidentally, I lived on my 42’ Californian LRC for 5 years in the early 2000s in Marina Del Rey, CA. I used The Boat Yard for many things in that time. That was a great yard. Many large yachts. Let me stay on board during a bottom paint.

Inland in Northern California at Sutter Marine in Yuba City is a tech named Junior that is a top tier outboard mechanic. I've had friends drive over a hundred miles to have them work on their boats as it's getting harder to find anybody that you would want to wash your boat let alone work on it.

Marine Max in Venice is my go to for mercury parts. They always seem to have what I need or can get it quickly. Also use a small marine repair shop when I can to support small businesses. They won’t work on verados so just parts. Hope nothing changes with the new ownership you do a great service for us boaters. Please keep up the great work!!! 👍😎🌴 stay safe out there.

You're so fortunate to live there just because of the weather alone. Here in Wenatchee Washington we spend half or more of the year indoors due to cold weather. Spring is beautiful here but the water doesn't warm up until about mid July and then it's back to cold around the end of Sept. I hope to live some place that's warm year round some day. Thanks for the videos.

Run up to the sandbar or down to Donte's or out to the special sandbar for natives, drop some Cudjoe traps, can't wait. Hopefully the new owners are cool.

I used to clean boats at loggerhead marina in riviera beach but it eventually got bought by suntex then it got bought by FB marine and it just turned to crap with all these rule changes and work fees. Oh and when they get bought out, the office people have re-enter in all the customers info one by one and the marina held over 200 boats.

Where I dock my boat is just dockage. The dealership where I bought my first boat was the worst and the worst service. The dealership I bought my second boat was a full service marina and sales. Where I take my boat to get hauled is a full service marina no sales. Then I trailer my boat and store it on a driveway and avoid all the storage fees abs I do the maintenance myself

Good luck with the new ownership. Are you hourly or commission? Number one thing I wish customers knew. You are not our only customer and if you have a fishing tournament on Friday, you should call earlier then Thursday afternoon to request service. Number two is that your engine just might need more then a “tune up”

When it come to most parts I prefer to go to a dealer or parts store vs maybe Amazon. See a lot of knock off parts from China online poping up. For a few extra bucks I want to make sure I have a genine OEM part and not a knock off.
@scooter81873 жыл бұрын
I hate to hear about old school (that's a compliment) marinas like yours getting sold and "upgraded". I have seen so many marinas around South Florida getting bought up by big companies and "upgraded" to cater to larger and more expensive boats and yachts. They seem to lose most of their character in the process. The other option, which is even worse, is the marina gets bought by a developer and then knocked down to build condos. Dockage and boat storage space gets more limited every year.
@mchaves76633 жыл бұрын
I think before you check into a Marina for a service, make sure the mechanic shop has all the required parts to execute the job. I recently had to cancel a service after having my boat moored in a marina for 4 weeks waiting to find out the mechanic shop didn't manage to pre-order a new engine and transom assembly from Mercury. If I chose to wait longer, it would require additional 6 weeks to get these parts in and then the time for installation, therefore nearly 3 months in total. It turned out to be a waste of money and time. Not sure how this kind of work happens in US but here in Aus the mechanic shops are very lax and inconsiderate with clients. It feels like the more inneficient and costly they are , the better it is.
