Hi Bray, this is Gordon Telepun checking in, I am the developer of the app Solar Eclipse Timer that you mentioned numerous times during your video. Thank you for your recommendation and support! I hope I can help your subscribers and viewers of this video get more enjoyment out of the eclipse! My app is a useful tool, for sure. Your video was very good and you are going to help people know what to expect. Thank you for uploading it.

Take lots of bottled water and food. Also keep your gas tank full- there will be gasoline shortages along the path of totality, especially afterwards when folks are stuck in traffic. Take along a white sheet to make observing shadows on the ground a little easier - it can serve as your picnic blanket as well. Take a garbage bag with you so that you "leave no trace!"

You need solar protection for any time the moon isn't completely covering the sun. Once you see the diamond ring effect and it disappears, the corona will appear and at that point you can take the glasses off. You will have to put them back on before the 2nd diamond ring (3rd contact)

My Dad and I got to see the 2017 Solar Eclipse when we went to Alexader, NC. One of the few places in NC that got any of totality it that year. It was the only Solar Eclipse my father ever got to see and the only One I've seen in my life so far. My dad passed last January (2023) from ironically, skin cancer. Not from the solar eclipse mind you. He had been dealing with little spots of it for about 8 years prior.

There are orther things to observe. Primarily shadow bands on the ground at C2 and C3. Also how your eyes' color perception changes. Notice the temperature changes, and the breeze this causes. Depending on where you are positioned relative to the circular shadow, look for changes in angle of the breeze, as the air moving in to the colder area is subject to coreolis effect, similar to storm rotation.

I found it very strange how the sunlight streamed down to earth at 3rd contact. It seemed as if I could see the sunlight streaming from the moon down to earth. I think it takes a little over 1 second to travel from the moon to earth. It was sort of like a pillar or cone of light. It was weird.

There were a lot of weird sights and feels going on but this one had to be in your mind. The light from the light beam traveled faster than the beam itself to show you its progression towards earth? probably not..

Hi Brey. I have tried 3 times to order the solar glasses from your suggested website. First…I received a page saying they have changed the order #s since you posted that link. I did that and had my order ready to charge. Unfortunately, the orange PLACE ORDER button wouldn’t work. I thought I missed something so I went back and checked all the requirement information. I even read through all the info about the problems they’ve had with shipping issues. So, I started over the complete process again and it did the same thing. I’ve never had a problem like this so I sent an email to them. I’m hoping to hear from them but want to ask you if you have another company you have vetted that sell these solar glasses? Thank you

His comment about "knock-off" glasses is, frankly, wrong. Real cheap glasses are so easy to make that there would be no reason to make fake ones. He suggests you buy $15 glasses with paper frames, whereas you can buy the same thing for 10/$10. If you want proof that they are safe you can put them on and look directly at the sun. If the sun doesn't appear blindingly bright then they are working. Or turn on a light in your house and look directly at it first if you are worried. But order them now. I went to Tennessee to see the Eclipse in 2017 and by a week before the event I couldn't find any cheap glasses left online. I took my welding glasses, but was in a place where there was a big crowd and someone just gave me a cheap set. Go see it with a crowd if you can. Just like watching a movie in a theater, even the crowd reaction is awesome.

The total eclipse IS a sight to behold, but IMO way too much is made of the event, while way too little talk about the underlying REASONS the Eclipse occurs in the 1st place. As, reasons for the event is far more fascinating than the event itself, and as I see it- those who have taken it upon themselves to decide for us what we "need to know"... have decided they would rather NOT shine a mainstream spotlight on the TOTALITY of all the facts that work together so an eclipse can occur. I would like to just tell you what I am talking about, but I haven't the time- and IMO it is best for one to discover such things for themselves. But, will go as far as to say this- There are no coincidences. Coincidences are simply a fanciful notion favored by those whose depth perception concerning relative probability & possibility has not come into fruition of applicable comprehension- the coincidence "theory" if you will- is employed as a handy answer to spontaneous intrusions/impositions of inconvenient questions people cannot quickly & easily answer. The coincidence idea is basically just an easy go-to for those who's understandings have not matured enough to allow for the possibility of a reality rooted in pure reason moving predictably according to dictates of definitive universal purpose. Everyone bar none, has had the age-old seed of this "coincidence" notion planted deeply within us by virtue of communal "hand me down" logic and reasoning. Some of us grow out of the shoes of such adolescent reasoning, then again some do not... they walk through life with shoes of understanding too small to allow for beliefs to grow any larger than they are. So- perhaps belief in the coincidence fallacy- is symptomatic of those with an arrested development of universal perspective? Anywho- that's the totality of my thoughts on the matter... for today :) Enjoy the cosmic coincidence! ;)

@@Parallax-3D, take it up with Bray. I agree with him based upon my own experiences and that of others who got caught up with eclipse photography that interfered with experiencing the eclipse. I will be photographing the April 8 eclipse, but only passively, using video. I have gotten burned at past eclipses. No matter how well prepared one thinks one is, “Murphy” has a way of showing up uninvited. If he can, then he will. Definitely not for the neophyte using advanced equipment. If you’re not one, then congrats. It took me four TSEs to get it right.
