I've avoided Double or Nothing because it seemed like a gimmick, but after this review I've gone and ordered a copy.

Hi Roland, great video and great analysis of Double or Nothing (also watched your review vid). I have to admit I didn't like the novel very much and your (technical) explanations why someone wouldn't like it are spot on. Because for some reason KS reinvented the 007 universe, there was a lot of exposition (1/3 of the book?). That coupled with the very long and descriptive sentences meant I frequently lost the plot, literally (3 or 4 parallel plotlines?). However there were two other reasons I didn't like the Novel. 1: There are a lot of sentences, sayings perhaps, which are ripped from Ian Fleming novels. I guess done for the fans or because she is a fan, but for me it was too much (like all the JB references in DaD). it felt more like she couldn't come up with her own. 2: The main reason is ofcourse that JB isn't in the story at all. This is also the reason why I don't like The Spy Who Loved Me. For me this should be a side project like the MP diaries and not the main continuation series.

It’s really not James Bond anymore. Sadly just a cash grab for the IF estate.

Your discussion about visual painting and pay off is very helpful. Have you considered making writing craft videos? There’s already a ton of those, but I’m not sure the kind people making them always have a lot of actual writing experience.

You know what? I might just do a couple about some writing things I've been feeling especially passionate about recently. Thank you for the encouragement!
