I follow you for a while now and your videos are so recognizable! I'm from the Netherlands and I have over 650 Texel sheep. Your lamb feeder (nanny) is your best investment!! We already have it for 15 years and we can't live without it haha :)

Hi Sandi my name is Jodi Stewart and I'm from Emmetsburg Iowa. My question for you is can a mother lamb have up to 6 babies out of curiosity? I do thoroughly appreciate and thank you for sharing all of your vedio vlogs. I've learned a lot thanks 😊 Sandi

Is it not usual to breed ewe-lambs their first year? It is very common here in Sweden, that lambs that are born in the spring gets breed in the fall.
@SandiBrock6 жыл бұрын
The spring born ewes would likely be able to be bred in the fall, I just personally like to wait until the ewe lamb is a bit older and closer to mature weight (75%) when I want them bred. I just find that they lamb with a bit more condition, and after wean, they are in much better shape to get re-bred quicker. That's just my experience. Many breed at 6 or 7 months successfully. I just chose not to.

If you are only lambing once per year, in season, then breeding spring born ewe lambs in the fall for them to lamb at 12 - 14mos of age is fine, because they have plenty of time to rebuild themselves before they are bred again. But if you plan to accelerate them; ie. lambing every 8 mos year round, then waiting until they are closer to a year of age before their first breeding is better for us.

Do you ake a entire lambing group to the sale ring at once or take smaller groups as they reach weight?

I take a group every 2 weeks when they hit 105 lbs or higher.

whats in the box / shed
@jinjarogers17115 жыл бұрын
Its a insulated shed with nanny shepherd or milk shepherd. The shepherd is a vat that holds milk at the right temperature for baby lambs and it has tubes with teats on the ends for the motherless lambs to drink at will from their little lamb pen. Saves alot of time not having to bottle feed when you have many sooky lambs.
