I thought so too but I recently noticed that it says “carbon composite” on the end of the calipers. I wish they were plastic but that would explain how easily it scratched the Vostok

*Apologies to Vostok and Meranom- the scratch on the dial, as many of you have pointed out, is NOT from the factory but from my clumsy hands and calipers*. That being said, as scratch-prone as the dial has been since unboxing, it was probably best to get that first one out of the way.

Exactly what I moved from my Television's Comcast X1 KZbin feed to my phone to write. I watched your video with this versus the Casio Duro before this and wondered if an error hadn't been made... then I saw you do it with the digital micrometers when measurung the height. But you already addressed the cause before saying so (in fact said the opposite) in the Duro comparison. There are plastic micrometers you could use instead, to avoid such issues.

That’s the funny thing, these are plastic so I thought it would be fine. Need to wrap them in scotch tape or maybe even some bubble wrap or some pillows at this point

@@the1010watchclub Depending on the depth of the scratch it's nothing a bit of toothpaste (or your polishing compound of choice) and a microfiber cloth can't fix. It's one of the great things about the Amphibia is the 1mm thicker crystal.

It's actually possible to buy from Meranom now in spite of war and sanctions - and they will ship the item(s) plane-free. Watches and stuff will be land-transported from postoffice to the next, all the way (hopefully) to where you live.

My watch took a while but love it for the incredible Russian engineering in the the diver 24 hour model. There was smack about the stainless steel band but in looking over it looks great. The raised dome and back are not for looks they insure 200 meters and a 10 year guarantee.

I love Vostok's but I try to avoid the date versions, just a pain to do the date change thing. I do have the 24hr version of this with the blue rubber strap.

Hi Just came across you channel, Love the watch. I have never used polywatch for these crystals. I use 1200 + grit sandpaper then brasso to polish...sometimes toothpaste for all my watches that have acrylic/plastic crystals, no problems.

Just got mine, came on a blue nato strap. It’s gorgeous, but to be honest, I thought it’ll be a different shade of blue, and it looks a bit smaller in person. Nevertheless, what a nice piece! Thanks for the video, really helped me in making the decision to buy one.

I used PayPal both times I bought from them and was fine. Definitely do upgraded shipping though (fedex or dhl) as I’ve heard negative stories from the regular shipping option. Not sure about large straps but they may have that info on the website

I have a similar Kommandirskie but with a black dial with a red star (for a russian watch I had to get that) and with date on it. It's really prone to scratches but I love it! I use a black and grey nato strap with it because I didn't like the original metal bracelet.

Frustrating! I definitely recommend ordering directly from Meranom and paying for the upgraded shipping, either UPS or DHL. I just ordered two more watches from them last week and used UPS and they arrived in 4 days

Something weird is going on with Meranom's websiste. Other than the usual SILLY translation errors, it looked like it was saying all watches were out of stock, and it would not even let you filter what was IN STOCK! Also, modern amphibias greatly exceed the specs, at least if regulated, in accuracy and depth. They actually can go to 600m! And yes, there clearly was no scratch until he jammed the SHARP HARDENED STEEL caliper blade against the crystal.

I guess this video came across because of me watching Vostok's products. I really like them, I consider they should have a particular niche in the market since they are different from the point of view of design and fabrication. The company , from Customer Service angle, needs help, lead times are horrible if one uses standard shipping.. Lost In Transit - my case - is taken by representatives in the most unique way, the implied message "it is what it is" is just "fascinating". Vostok's lack of involvement or proactivity to contact Russian Post and / or Universal Post Union leaves everything on the customer side who will eventually receive a letter from Russian Post (my case) indicating they do not provide information to international recipients, the letter I receive also suggested to contact Universal Post Union, who is a body that, in some how , coordinates postal services among countries, so , no answer there either. How can they reach beyond immediate geographical countries? they should learn from competitors headquartered in China, Singapore, Germany, etc... Respectfully, Company-wise, Lost In Transit can not be an option Vostok.

You can expect to never reccieve it if you use normal shipping. And then for them to be rude to you and refuse to refund you for six months. Use eBay instead, atleast you will be refunded if the watch doesn't arrive

nice video. shame about the watch, you do get what you pay for. keep that bezel moving or it will seize up - real quickly. on the plus side poly watch will sort the scratches out, including the one you get by just looking at it..

The great thing about Vostok is that even though many are very basic, the quality is rock-solid (10 year service interval on most movements) and the price is low. Unfortunately the prices have risen quite substantially recently. But buy whatever you like personally, including Invicta.

Mines been going strong for two years now I rarely see anyone calling them crap watches! I consider mine a great value,now is it as good as my Bulova sea king? Or my Long Island turtle? Probably not but to call it crap is kinda being rough on a watch built on value and ruggedness!
