I've had 12+ PICC lines but I've never had a fabric cover you have! Next time I'll definitely look into getting one! Hope you are feeling well today. -another professional patient

Hi fellow Lymie! :) I've been in oral antibiotic treatment for over a year now, and finally getting put on a PICC tomorrow. I'm super nervous, but your video has helped calm me a bit, and I really appreciate the pro tip about the products. It is so surprising how little information I have been given about entering IV treatment. No one is explaining any of this to me - I'm going to have a weekly nurse come but even the nursing agency didn't say anything about me needing to have a dressing change 24 hours later! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time you took to make this. Fingers crossed it goes well for me - and I hope you're feeling so much better now!

Very helpful, thank you. I have Gastroparesis, and I’m not tolerating my feeds above 15 ml/hr. So, yesterday I had a PICC done, and the doctor said I should start TPN tonight.

I’ve had a horrible year with my health, due to my Gastroparesis flaring up. I have a PEG feeding tube, and a j-tube feeding tube. I’m considering having a PICC line done, if I have any more ER or hospital visits this year.

I just got mine day before yesterday. I’m sure you’ve had yours for a while now. My arm is black and blue they had to run through 3 veins. It felt like they hit a nerve and a strange feeling of bubbling crackling feeling in my neck shoulder and chest. Advancement issue? Idk. My arm was swollen for a day couldn’t move it. I can move it lots better now swelling has gone down. Im still black and blue. And it hurts! Nice video. Thanks 😊 for the information ℹ️. I’m pretty sure they should have went with the portacath but I needed something ASAP. Even deep veins sucks. V-EDS or any EDS is 😢.

I'm a PICC nurse and have inserted hundreds of these and I hate to tell you but swelling is NOT "normal" and you should have it checked out if you experience this. Usually it's a 30 minute procedure (2/3 of which is set up and cleaning) and the patient goes bout life as usual immediately after. Except in situations where complications occurred, I've never seen anyone need recovery time or a support system to deal with a PICC. Some mild soreness at the site might occur since we have put a needle into you and possibly made a very tiny incision with a scalpel, but nothing debilitating. The suggestions on alternate dressings and products are good though.

Just wanting to give a WARNING on PICC lines, they should never be inserted into a person with total leg paralysis that only has their upper body for transfers. The transfer from wheelchair to bed is enough to severely damage the brachial plexus nerves, and cause permanent paralysis to the patients arm.

Wow, thanks for the info! I have poor range of motion in all 4 quads. I use my shoulder a lot for sliding in and out of of bed etc= Transfers. from C2 -C3 damage elhers

The only problem with the cover is it stretches within a day!
