Sweet Chili Tempeh
1 tbsp sweet chili sauce
1 tbsp tahini
1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1 cup diced tempeh, or firm tofu
Combine sweet chili sauce, tahini paste, and soy sauce in a bowl. Then gently fold in tempeh or tofu. Toss to coat and bake on a for 10-15 minutes at 375 or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
Note: If using tofu, gently squeeze the excess water out before dicing. Learned this trick from Vegan Family TV. Check them out! I love them :) Ps. Their kids also have a channel, and it's possibly the cutest thing ever. Check it out and tell them I sent you!
Oil-Free "Refried" Black Beans
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
3 heaping tbsp fresh salsa
1 tbsp taco seasoning
Blend until smooth. Serve warm in burritos, on baked potatoes, and a dip for veggies and tortilla chips, or as a high protein spread on sandwiches.

I wish in these grocery haul videos where they say things are affordable that ppl included the price like I bought this rice for 3.99, these veggies were 1.79 a lb or whatever. It would be super helpful esp for new vegans who believe becoming vegan is crazy expensive and they can't afford it.

- Soft tofu is useful for warm soups. Douhua is made from very soft tofu, and it tastes super delicious. - Firm tofu is useful for stir-frys and probably most solid foods. - In China, there are so many different ways to eat soy. It's the Americans who just happen to know of only soy milk, tofu, and edamame. I think the soy byproducts are usually used in industrial processes in the USA. - I wonder how coconut flour is supposed to work. Can it rise like wheat or rye flour?
@NikkiVegan
@NikkiVegan 7 жыл бұрын
Interesting! Yeah soy is in a lot of different things but really only widely known in those three ways you mentioned. Coconut flour is ok...it does rise but it's a little grainy...kinda like almond flour but a little finer. It tastes a little like coconut too. It's ok. Not bad, but also not my first choice if you know what I mean. Maybe I need to experiment a little more with it

Congratulations on becoming a vegan, and starting this great channel. I noticed you eat a lot of soy. Its best to avoid it if you can. Look up soy as an endocrine disruptor, and also that bpa thats in the plastic gladware you heat your dinners in. Heating plastic releases toxic chemicals from the plastic into your foods. Be healthy!

@lottatroublemaker6130
@lottatroublemaker6130 6 жыл бұрын
Just a few thoughts [LONG]... You bought the Balsamic cream (or what it's called). Do you know that it literally takes two minutes to make and you get lots out of a bottle of cheap balsamic vinegar? I found out by just trying, as I tasted it many years ago, but it was nowhere to be found and I just HAD TO have it! Plus, you get to control what kind of sugar goes into it... Pour approx 125ml or 4oz of balsamic vinegar into a small pot. Add lots of sugar, so the heap goes to the top of the vinegar (can be adjusted later). Turn the heat on high and start stirring. Stir until ALL sugar crystals are dissolved or it starts boiling. Take the pan off the heat and drip a drop onto a plate to see how thick it is. You want it "just right" - that wonderful, smooth "cream", but not so thick you can't get it out of the bottle. If it is too thick, add some more vinegar and bring to the boil. If it is too thin, add sugar (and don't be shy about it, this stuff needs sugar and remember, it only takes a little to lift a dish to new heights! ☺️😍 For many, the best thing is that you save a lot on making this, just saw a bottle of the stuff priced at $13! Nuts, IMHO! Add yours to a practical condiment bottle like a clear ketchup bottle or something like that - or reuse a balsamic cream bottle. Did you try to add a tablespoon of it to your marinara sauce? Try 1 tbsp first, then add a bit more, if needed... It sort of gives the impression you made the sauce on Italian super sweet tomatoes, then let your sauce simmer for 7-8 hours, like they do with the best Italian sauce! Nom nom! The "just beets" takes 10 minutes in the microwave! You just need a chip tray or chip maker from aliexpress, it is a white plastic holder ($3?) where you put thin slices of potato or other root veggies. I slice mine super thin, add a bit of salt/spice/herbs and put in the holder in the microwave set on 10 minutes. I open and let out some steam a few times, dry off the door. It is amazingly good, even gets bubbles! Wouldn't believe it had no fat if I didn't know better! YUM! The hummus is just so super easy to make too, and you take control and avoid processed food... 👍☺️ BTW, did you know that you can blend sugar? So if you are making something and need fine sugar or confectioner's sugar, you just add your favorite coarse sugar and blend until it is as you prefer it. Great, since many want to avoid white sugar, but many recipes asks for e.g confectioner's sugar, which is made from white, refined sugar. But, you can take light brown unrefined sugar and blend it fine, until you have the most yummy, beige confectioner's sugar! Soooo easy! Nom nom! I love making proper vanilla sugar too. I cut a couple of vanilla beans in pieces and add to my blender (for this I usually use my bullet blender), then add appr 2dl or 6-7oz of sugar, then blend and keep blending until it is super fine (confectioner's sugar) with a slightly dirty color. This is great, as you utilize the whole bean. If you have used beans where you already used the seeds, save them to use for this! This is literally the best vanilla sugar in the world, IMO! Put it in a nice, little jar and it is a really cute and nice gift for someone! How about adding a jar to some nice coffee for a coffee lover or to some nice vegan chocolate and plant milk as a "Hot Chocolate Kit"? I think that is a nice, thoughtful gift! With a little other chocolate, maybe, it must be a great gift for the upcoming Valentines Day, right? ❤️ Most of what is called "vanilla sugar, has something like 2% of real vanilla, the rest is vanillin from cellulose, but this is the real thing, which is why many are so surprised when they taste it, it tastes different... It is soooooo good! Great to add to your smoothies, blender ice cream etc! You can also make vanilla extract so easily, add bits of vanilla beans to a little bottle and fill it up with either vodka or glycerin (I prefer the latter)... Vanilla powder has become popular now too, it is just the whole bean milled finely, great to do with a bullet blender or spice/coffee grinder. YUM! Who doesn't love vanilla? Too bad it is so expensive now, because of bad weather, much of last year's harvest was lost... Glad I had stocked up on the goodness before that... I have bought packs of 30 beans on eBay... ☺️ Things like the coconut flour you could probably easily make yourself from cheap coconut shavings, if it is expensive, it may make a difference. Don't know how much it costs there, here it is expensive. Can't remember the price, but think it was priced similar to almond flour and that a local store wants $35,50 for 1 kg (2.22lbs). I think that is crazy! I blend a coarse almond meal to use for quick, fresh almond milk (you never want store bought ever again, it is so much better) and also for a great and yummy coffee/tea creamer! I just hated having to plan making milk, since soaking was necessary. Not anymore, it isn't! Well, for the creamer I soak for 30 minutes... OMG, I would love having Trader Joe's here, it seems like a fantastic store! Great they have such a great selection of vegan things... 👏🙌👍😊 LOL, that was a loooong post... I just think it is good to avoid processed food and a lot of what you can buy, is so easy to make, but many never even tried... Some things I also make out of necessity, since the vegan selection at supermarkets isn't that great where I live, but it's getting better each month, since more and more people go vegan... 👏🙌👍 Thanks a lot for great videos! 👏👏👏👏👏❤️
