Insurance in Canada is crazy. So unethical in my opinion how these companies, and the people that work for them, can take BILLIONS a month from people and then turn around and not cover people. So sickening and sad that these costs have to go to regular people while we HAVE TO pay these companies every month and they can put in these loopholes. If you love your car which became flooded and stopped working and want to keep it, don’t call your insurance company. Have the vehicle moved to a trusted repair shop and pay out of pocket to have them inspect it and find out what it needs to be repaired. If it’s less than your deductible, just pay it to repair your car. If you let your insurance company handle it, they’ll immediately write-off the car and brand it as unsafe to be on the road - several years ago they used to fix cars but the cars kept triggering airbags and electrical problems down the road and became too much of a risk. So take the risk or lose your car. Once they brand it unsafe, you’ll have to jump through hoops to get it repaired out of pocket and most insurers won’t risk insuring it again. Good luck .

Science indicates inc. glacial warming and melts at the poles which logically should result in inc. rainfall or precip. Cannot be predicted which parts of the world get hit but seeing it all over the globe flooding in Asia, Brazil etc. All those affected / involved should smarten up imo

Insurance is way out of control - complicated and one sided. When you need them its a stressful wait and see game - rates are increasing and coverage decreasing. Rates go up yearly even though no claims/tickets were made. I have even increased my deductible to try and offset the cost of the increases.

What they don't mention about the flood and backup insurance, is that while it is optional, it is also something insurance companies seemingly refuse to offer, if you live somewhere that COULD be flooded.

Its the governments job to provide the roads we pay for. The government should have to reimburse the people for failing to provide a service they charge for. It's straight fraudulent.

This is just lose-lose because when it comes to wide-scale massive damage, everybody could’ve been covered by insurance which means the cost of insurance following this disaster skyrockets, or folks are just out of pocket which means they probably just lose their homes, or they become increasingly reliant on an already overwhelmed government service industry. Either way, people pay the cost of their pain.

Economical insurance must have been hit hard. We had a pay out more then 2 months ago ( stolen truck) and they just reversed our payout of 80,000$ from our bank. Even though we have already paid towards our truck and loan on truck. No warning. Nothing. Good luck to anyone who has economical ( brokerlink). Terrible compnay. It took more then 6 + months to even get the money.

What they're not telling you is that insurance policies differ on the different regions like in some regions flood insurance is standard and does come with your standard insurance it just doesn't in that region because flooding is extremely rare but now it's happened and the insurance company thinks they're not going to pay for all of that damage that's got to be like a hundred millions of dollars of damage
