Passport in state traveling from my recall is enough proof of id. Can actually use your passport as one form of proof of id to get a real id. No idea if dmv will or has started only issuing real id driver licenses.

My husband and I gave our DMV the information they needed for real ID prior to when they were actually issuing driver licenses with the gold star. As military bases were eventually going to require it. And our son lived on base with his wife. Someone with a military id had to meet us at gate to get us in but everybody has to show a form of id. By having our info on file, it was just a matter of going to the dmv and requesting real id. Then each year they kept extending the deadline to implement real id for plane travel in states and other places. It’s long over due to have a deadline finalized with traveling etc. But shame on our government allowing foreigners to swoop in with no requirements. 911 started the need for real id. Because of terrorists. And now our borders are open to them. Make it make sense

This was supposed to be fully in place by 2022 but the pandemic pushed it back. If you're American and have all the proper documentation, it's not a big deal. If you're foreign and have a passport, you can travel anywhere with that. The part I don't agree with is that, supposedly without Real ID, you can't enter a gov't building without it. If you're a foreigner here, legally on a visa, and you need to go to a gov't building, will you be allowed in with your passport?

I believe You may need it if you go on a military base for any reason (unless you have military ID). Most people this would not be an issue, but when our daughter had a baby on a naval base we had to have clearance to be there for her. Her husband was scheduled to be out to sea for due date. You never know if you might need to go somewhere for an emergency. Either get a passport or a real idea. If you have family that travels and they get hurt or something you might have to make an urgent flight.

Statistically women are way more likely to initiate a divorce because they have way more incentives to do so, courts are statistically more likely to go favor the wife with Alimony, child support, etc. And women are slightly more likely to cheat. It is really not that difficult. The ID just requires a couple additional documents. I got mine a year ago as my drivers license needed to be renewed anyway. People are procrastinators and now complain about now when this was announced like 2005 and NY begin issue Real ID in 2017.

Be carefull trying to circumvent getting the Real ID by just having a passport, I know a person who used a passport for years as an ID then used it to travel oversees and was held in customs for hours because they deemed him suspicious for flying with a passport that had never been stamped for travel up till that point. If you travel with a passport that you had for a couple of years without stamps you gonna have problems and end up on a watchlist.

I had to get a birth certificate from my birth state before they issued me a real ID, and it had to be original not digital with the seal, make sure you have that before you move on somewhere else. Trump 2024
