I like it to visit. Would check out the prospective area before moving.

I'm from Miami (Hialeah suburb). Expect your cost of living to be (on average) between $95 to $110K a year to survive there. You MUST learn Spanish to live here, that is without a doubt the biggest piece of advice for those of you moving there. Your average cost of fuel per gallon will always be between $4.50 to $5.25, more so if you live on the islands of Miami (Biscayne Bay etc). If you move here and are not retired; plan your routes to your job to average between 35 up to 55 mins each way. Not including accidents (which are super high on average). Your groceries will cost 12 to 15% more than normal in other states. Mosquitoes are the state bird here. Alligators is the state fish. Flooding is common here, plan your home according to sea level. Most folks drive SUVs here. Insurance costs are expensive, make sure to get under insured and non-insured coverage, lots of fraud. Carry some cash not too much. Get a conceal carry permit, crime numbers are fudged and don't reflect unreported incidents. Police response time is 30 to 45 mins. Hope this helps!
