If you tow your boat, you need the right tow vehicle. We teamed up with Ram to look at what you need in a tow package, learn about GCVW, different hitch capacities and classes, and what extra features come in handy for trailering a boat. This is not a Ram commercial; we just used a 1500 Outdoorsman as our example vehicle, and what's discussed in the video applies to all tow vehicles.

I have always heard of transmission issues with the Rams. It is just something I have always heard.

BEARDEDYAKER Transmission problems while towing, no? Using a Ram for everyday driving, yes. Rams are meant for towing, hauling, and work so their transmissions are geared that way.

I'm surprised you didn't include which gear set to choose when looking for a tow vehicle. For instance, first thing I would have done for the truck in the video, besides opting for the Hemi engine would be to make sure the vehicle had the optional 3.92 gears instead of the standard 3.21. Some may say that would be overkill with the 8-speed auto but for this example, we are talking specifically about a tow vehicle.

I have the same truck, 2015 with the Hemi 5.7 and box's on the side.. I'll be towing a 25 ft Crownline that weighs 5800 lbs..this should be a breeze..
