Thinking of the E91 318i.. as runabout. Should I stick to Lexus IS 250 instead or is it reliable . Think it’s n43?
@BMWDoctor5 жыл бұрын
No chance mate stick with your Lexus why you wanna buy a 318i don’t touch any of them engines 4 cylinder only 6 cylinder it’s not a bmw if it’s not 6 cylinder it’s a brutish made engine the 4 cylinder engines so avoid it like the plague

Hi Dean any chance you could do video on 5E20 & 5E21 faults for DSC and handbrake lights appearing on the dash, I get this intermittantly on my E85 3.0i, researching the web E46 owners get it quite a bit too and it appears it can be the pressure sensors on the master cylinder or an internal pressure sensor in the ABS module or other things in the brake system causing pressure fluctuations, how do you work out which?

Not really here mate unless you turn it into a drift car or buy a car that’s been drifted then that’s a complete different story but every e46 I’ve had I ain’t had no problems

Those half-moon deals bring up a question I have. What is the point of those half moons? Even the 1986 e28 m20 engine has them. My e38 has them. All BMW's have them. My Corvette and Camaro don't have them. My wife's Neon doesn't have them. Are they BMW things? Are they overhead cam things (excluding the Neon)? Inquiring minds want to know.
@BMWDoctor5 жыл бұрын
Nope them half moons are for the vanos system to cover the vanos bolts that’s all

Thats a tidy E46, very rare to find an E46 of any age/version without rusty arches or sills. Though it seems the later cars were slightly better built than the early ones, as was the case with the E36s. I don't like black wheels though - people normally spray them black to try and hide a badly kurbed wheel instead of getting them refurbished, and they look tacky. Apart from that it looks like a tidy example that should hold on to its value. Prices for these cars are sure to start rising soon as they achieve classic status.

@@BMWDoctor really doesn't seem like the power to turn an air pump would give you 20hp or anything? how much hp realistically?

Well with all OBD emissions off it gives another 35bhp as nothing is controlling and monitoring the fuel and air ratio so it’s free to flow as much as possible

The tamper dot can be removed after swapping the dash/ speedo unit. Yet it can show lower miles than what it can actually is. IE: the EWS can have a different KM reading to that of the LCM unit or GM system. let say EWS shows 344K kms and the IKE shows 196k kms. Should it shows tamper dot?. Yes it should, but it can be coded in a way where it does not show and makes you think WITHOUT a computer that it is legitimate. Only until you scan the car with a computer that the KMS are in fact wrong. How do I know. Because this has happened to my car before i bought it with low KMS. Read the system without inpa/dis and other sorts. To my horror, the EWS the LCM were within 60kms of each other but the IKE clearly had been changed by upto 150k KMS. With no tamper dot.
@BMWDoctor5 жыл бұрын
Is that even relevant to my video mate my mileage is genuine here in the Uk we have a thing called full service history my mileage is 100% correct on all my cars you may have been fooled and had your pants down mate but not me when you have the skills I do people can’t play about with me on Bmw’s
@jasonputtock44285 жыл бұрын
@@BMWDoctor yes it is relevant. Anyone in the states and other countries that watch your videos will take it your word that a tamper dot that is not presents means = you have a a fairly good chance it's a legitmate car. your statement on that is wrong. You did not advise that a computer is more needed to verify your cars true status. My pants were caught down because I had no COMPUTER. Simple. as for the E46 why did not mention how the rear chassie cracks.??
@BMWDoctor5 жыл бұрын
Because it doesn’t apply here in the uk we don’t have subframe problems and secondly I never did this car for the us people I did this for Uk people not for you us people that’s why it’s a m sport not a standard equipment piece of shit
@jasonputtock44285 жыл бұрын
@@BMWDoctor ist im not US based . I am uk and yes the E46 do suffer from chassie problems. I had to scrap a car because of it. No it did not tow anything at all in its life. It was never involved in any accidents and yes the original suspension was still on the car. Why do i know this because the front spring broke in half after the first year of owning it. This was not the only E46 that suffered this horrid problem. Their were 2 other cars that suffered the same fate. Those were also english versions. I know this because i worked right next door to a BMW garage and those cars that came in with issues. This was one of their weak points. its why i never bought a E46 ever again. However, you say one thing and I have seen first hand other things. Well. good luck with your channel.
