When I was a vegetarian, I once brought dried soy grains with me. They are still for sale, lightweight and super high in protein.

I always bring powdered milk with me. It is dehydrated actual milk and tastes like long life milk.

I'm from Hessle, so the Wolds Way begins right on my door step. I'll have to train myself up one day if I ever want to conquer it, not something I could do at the drop of a hat. But the attractions I'd get to see along it are so tempting and I'm not an experienced hiker nor am I an independent camper. If I ever plan on it, I'd better learn the basics and rehearse myself for it.

Gary take it from an old soldier start with your feet, hardening them up by soaking a rag in metho and then apply it to your feet. This hardens them up. At night after a walk if your feet are wet, dry them and apply sunscreen with Alovera in it and have thongs to put on. I think you call them flip flops. Your feet will be as good as new the next day.

I pack heaviest things closest to the back of the pack. I'm sure it makes it easier to carry, if my GCSE physics isn't incorrect! Hope you're doing well.

Interesting that you starting at Hull or Hessle Abbie. We enjoyed the estuary only last year bivvying at the foot of the Bridge, on the south side and in an abandoned pub in Hull on the way back home - had to watch out for the street heads. I recommend you watch it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKbXmJZvqNdnn5o It was a cool adventure. Back to you. It's amazing what kit you can squeeze into a small space. It looks like your heading for a remarkable time. Look forward to it. All the very best. Mark.

You named your pack yourself. "The Beast".

What’s the overall weight of your pack for this hike? Seems like a lot!
