Thank you for this video and everything else you have posted! I am a FLEX finalist (I have yet to be picked by a host family) and your videos are immensely helpful! Also, is it possible for me to buy a laptop/phone in the US? My phone is kind of broken, but I think it would be better to buy a new device there because I am afraid if I buy a phone in my country it will be region locked/ won't work properly in the US.

Thank you for your kind words! It is totally possible to buy a new phone or laptop in the United States. If you plan on buying an Apple product, it most probably gonna work no matter where you buy it from but I don't know about other products. I got my iPhone before moving here and I have friends who got their phones or laptops while doing their exchange years here. Either way works if you buy a certain brand.

I had presents for literally the whole year. I gave most of my host family gifts the first day I arrived as a “Thank you” but I also had some gifts prepared for their birthdays or Christmas. You’d figure it out, it’s always nice to have some more staff for the future (like mother’s day or father’s day).

Awwww, first of congratulations on becoming a finalist😍 Second of all, YES, you can buy you a new phone even if you’re not 18. I don’t know how it works cuz I had my phone even before moving to the USA but I had some friends who bought iPhones for them.
