So much stuff to plant this month, I'm running out of sunny spots on my patio! November IS exciting! 😆Great video as always, information from a local source is invaluable. Calendar is a GAME CHANGER. We've done balcony gardens, and it's so hard to not turn it into a jungle :)

I've had great success with shallots in Irvine, planting bulbs from the previous year typically around Halloween. I sure learned my lesson with broccoli and cabbage moths, which treated neem oil like salad dressing! Have another batch of broccoli under mosquito netting.

I loved my 2023 calendar. I refer to it all year instead of google. It's obvious how much time is spent to povide such useful information. I gave up on brussel sprouts. They are a aphid magnet. Question: Can I plant potatoes in 9bCA in November for a sprint harvest? Monthly "what you can plant" videos are great! Thank you.

Glad to hear it! A light frost can damage the plant a little but not necessarily kill it. You can mulch and use row cover if temps do get that low. Otherwise, you're safe to plant now (they take about three months), and we have them in stock now too: sandiegoseedcompany.com/product-category/vegetables/potatoes/

I'm in deep south 9b and I grow bush beans in succession all winter - I just cover them if we're expecting a temperature dive. I think something got a couple of my bulbing onions - squirrels? So I'm goin to have to cover them with chicken wire.

A little bit of row cover or similar can definitely go a long way! Let us know if that works. We don't have squirrels here (mostly skunks though), but lots of people do.

@@SanDiegoSeedCompany I made some small shallow domes of chicken wire for each onion - I didn't plant a lot, I have a small garden and it's my first year growing onions. I'm scattering them around because alliums are supposed to help deterring pests.

What Up 619 Garden gang man i love youre Lolla Rosa strain of Lettuce only grabbed it once from Hunters Nursery i save my seed and the Lettuce is so nice looking i dont harvest it and I usually let it Bolt to get more seeds Jaha happened once already however Thanks for the inspiration to grow more Fam keep it Ganstah and keep it 619 Playahs....San Diego Seed Co. on mines ❤

Great info. I’m trying Brussels Sprouts again. Start earlier every year. They are great for attracting aphids. I have grown them to the tiny head stage…maybe the size of a nickel, after I cut the top of the stalk off. Turnips and shallots are great to grow too. Pronounce Lolla Rossa “Lo La” and it’s one of many lettuces I grow every year. BTW the Calendar’s Amazing!!! Been buying them every year. Now I gift them to my garden fam and friends.

I bought your cosmic purple carrot, one of many seeds I bought, and I let one go to seed and the seeds just drop, too many for me to save, now the 20 gallon pot is full of carrot seedlings, I'm thinking I'll let it grow and pick them when they have baby carrots.

Curious, won’t the board promote roly polys to go under it because of the moisture? I have so many roly polys and direct sowing seeds is so hard for me so any advice and tips are very much appreciated. Do you guys have any videos on pest control in particular for roly polys? 😭

Great point! They do, so we come out and pick them off each day (for beds that don't have a lot) if we don't use one of these two products below (which we DO use in beds that have a lot of them). Most likely nothing really since that's only a few degrees. It's just a measure of how cold your lows get.
