Thank you Frani for your useful suggestions. I have only recently realised I am a flamboyant gamine. I was in denial for a while hoping I was a soft gamine. Your content inspires me and it it so helpful to know there are other out there like us 😀👍

I too wish I could feel comfortable I mini skirts! I’m constantly afraid I’ll move some weird way and accidentally flash people 😂

I totally feel you on the mini skirt dilemma! While I'm pretty sure I tend to pick rather modest pieces just because they fit my style better, I usually wonder how much of that is influenced by all the negative connotations regarding clothes that are more revealling. Hell, even sandals and high heels are tricky for me because of that! Obviously I know I shouldn't wear anything I don't feel comfortable in but one day I'd like to reach a certain level of ease that allows me to wear such things without worrying about whether they're too tight/short/all of the above.

Thank you for your videos. I’m enjoying them. I think I’m a gamine and your videos are helping me figure that out. 👍🏼

Me too! All these years I knew what I liked and what looked good on me “I come alive in those types of clothes” but never knew why.

You are so gosh dang adorable. Also I very much feel you on the mini skirts- dismantling internalized systems of oppression is no joke. Especially when it influences your perception of self worth. But the work is so necessary. Really appreciate your gentle and intentional way of moving through life

Love you, friend! It's hard work to undo the deeply internalized messages that say you are inherently evil and worthless, but I'm so tired of being numb to myself. I'm grateful to share the ways I'm healing.

Your videos are always so well done and full of great insight and inspiration, Fran!! I got a pair of everlane pleated trousers and I’m in absolute love with them! Highly recommend as a fellow flamgam, high waist, comfy like pjs but so polished. Also a big fan of the mini skirt and tights! I come from a similar background and my skirts went through a gradual shift until I found the length I was comfortable in and simultaneously felt sassy and sexy in. Keep up the good work! 😘

Thank you! I never knew why I was always drawn to this style! Always grabbing my dads clothes but still loving a mini skirt and boots. What do you think about kimonos and how to style them for our structure? I’ve been leaning towards wearing shorts with them. I love shorts and hiking boots
@franibeard3 жыл бұрын
I think you have to consider the texture of the kimono (like how much movement does it have, how long is it, how long + flowy are the sleeves, etc.) And then balance that out with the rest of your outfit. The key with gamines is the play with extremes of yin and yang. So yes, wearing something shorter with a longer kimono would be a great option.

Love the styling ideas. Crewneck sweaters with button up shirts underneath and the collar showing is like the best thing ever. That and plaid shirts lol (Idk what type I am tbh but I know I like wearing that lol)

Where did you find your necklace? It's simple but precisely that's what I like about it :) Your hair is bomb. I do fight for my natural hair too. Been doing that forever even in the early 2000s when they were not in style at all.... Everyone used to straighten their hair except me😅

How beautiful that you felt empowered to accept your hair. The necklace is the Zodiac Necklace from GLDN, linked in the description. (I got Sagittarius bc my husband is a Sag.)

I am INTO a crew neck with a turtleneck. When I wear a turtleneck with a crewneck...I feel some type of way! 😉😋🤗❤️ And...I feel that mini-skirt emotion. I am only beginning to explore how the male gaze has affected my “personal” style and my feeling of self-worth. Phew. It is something to unpack. And. Interestingly enough, I am also dealing with leaning into my masculinity more. I’m pretty sure I’m a dramatic. So I’ve been trying to really lean into the yang element and....it’s hard for me, because I was taught to be feminine and I wouldn’t be accepted if I dressed masculine as a woman.
@franibeard3 жыл бұрын
YES! I support you as you sink into your wholeness! I see you, especially being a more yang leaning type as well.

@@franibeard I really like your content and your fun nature. I’m a FG too but much older than you. It’s uplifting to dress in ‘our’ funky-fun FG vibe. ♥️ 🎷 - even when you’re 60 :-). I’ve always been a fan of Audrey Hepburn also and now I know why. That black turtleneck look is just everything. I love those Nisolo boots too! And the jeans - I’m going to get me a pair of those in black. Thanks Frani!
