Yes, head to toe oversized is not for my curvy petite size! I Love the pink moto jacket look! A duster is a petite woman’s best friend especially when done in same color as the wide leg pants! I highly recommend taking photos instead of relying on the mirror when it comes to checking silhouettes and proportions.

Yes coincidentally I too am your height (also with red hair) and appreciate your video on pairings with wider leg pants. I find that a more fitted (or tucked in top) appeals to me more than something that hangs over loosely with these style pants. Also the shorter jackets for sure - they really help bring attention to the upper body which may give more of an illusion of balance and height. I am a fan of black and tan (mostly black for my bottoms) and so it was very pleasing to see your combinations. Thank you for this great presentation.

I loved the outfit you were wearing with the green, puff-sleeved top. That's my favorite way to wear a wide leg pant. Baggy on Baggy does not work for me, I look like Frump-ville! So many helpful tips! I like the short and medium length jackets best. I must admit that the style of wearing pants that bunch at the hem looks distracting and less polished to me than a slightly higher hem that doesn’t drag on the ground. The puddle effect tends to cut one’s height also.

I am all for flowing and loose clothing just not too baggy. I liked the long cardigan with the pants because it seemed very streamlined…straight and fitted without being clingy at all. I would like to see some ideas for combat boots etc. with the straight legged jeans. Thanks

The tan blazer and pink looked great on the white blouse tucked in wide leg trouser pants. The black boots did make you look taller. (Same height!) The long duster cardigan looked super for a night out, creative looking, art gallery hopping etc.Also loved the white ankle boot! Thank you for posting this! Was wondering what to wear with trouser pants after skinny jeans/cords for so long! (Still love them.). Also same height as you so really helpful!

Awesome video! I really enjoyed all the looks and the wear This Not That comparisons. I have a pair of black linen pants exactly like these and I have struggled to style them so you've given me some good ideas. Now I can see what I may have been doing wrong. I wore them the other day with a relaxed fit short sleeve pink blouse that I tucked in and I was surprised to get compliments. To me these pants are almost like wearing a skirt, just even more comfortable. Recently I got a Navy pair that I can't wait to wear when the weather cools off.

Hi Jamie, Thanks for another great video… Every time I wear my wide leg trousers I also have issues in trying to figure out what style of top to wear. I have a white smocked top that goes right to the waist and it seems to really look good but I wear it with all my wide leg pants. I have tried long flowy tops but they don’t look good front tucked so it has been a chore trying to figure it what to wear with the pants.

I have the opposite problem. I'm 6' tall and when I wear high waisted looser trousers my legs look a mile long, which is great! But when I tuck in a blouse I feel like my top half looks too small. Any tips for a fairly rectangular tall body shape? I love your channel, by the way!

A great deal of work and effort putting this together - thank you so much Jamie. That green top looks amazing on you, as does the pink moto jacket, which is my favourite outfit by the way. Love love love it! Until recently, had one just like it in cream, ended up donating it to a charity thrift store, along with a cream sweater with horizontal stripes! (The jacket felt about 2 sizes too big for me, especially across the shoulders and just couldn't make it work as well as others in my wardrobe.) I do love a flowing dress trouser, which is about as far as I venture into the "wide" arena, providing my upper half is waist defining or cropped. I bet you had a lot of "fun" trying on all these combinations. Such a star you are!

I’m also 5’4” and a sz 2. On thing I’ve learned from an art teacher, of all things, is to pair opposites. In other words, wear a close fitting top with loose pants. Loose tops can work with very straight high waisted slightly loose trousers and I shorten most of my jackets to high hip or waist high. I consider my height petite and dress accordingly. I’m 65 and dress young and boho and almost always prefer high waisted pants. For color, I like light and dark paired or at least a lighter saturation of colors. It works for me.

I agree with her. I have been in fashion for my whole career...teaching sewing, fashion designing a bit, and tailoring. I worked in sales-- Kaspar- 2 years and hated trying to push sales, which was expected of us! Anyway, I am 5'2 and a 4-6. *Sizes are definitely NOT consistent...I did notice in your video that the longer jacket might have looked better shortened an inch or more, and still carry off the look you wanted. Thank you so much for this video. I also am 5’4”. This video helped me so much to see what I needed to see to finish out my clothing. I had my colors done many years ago, and wearing the correct colors for your skin tone is half the battle and makes a huge difference. I want to have them done again as there are 12 color groups, instead of 4, like there was in the beginning, of getting your colors draped. Anyway, as I said, color is only half the battle. You presented the other half of dressing for your shape and size. I need some long cardigans, and closer fitting clothes, which I have been afraid to get. When you put on the bulky sweater, it hit me in the face, of what I have been doing. I have been covering myself up, for protection, with loose or bulky clothing, when going out in public. I realized it is a mental security blanket the way I was dressing. I never knew that before this video. This video was very valuable to me, and you helped me, so thank you again.

Thanks for all of your helpful tips and visuals. Of the outer wear options, I preferred the length of the camel blazer. I think I also liked the structure it provided. Like you, I am not tall (5'3''). I find that I have to wear a more fitted top that is not too thick if I am wearing wide legged pants. Also, I'm better wearing shoes that have a bit of a heel. Flats or sneakers are not as flattering.

No it's not just you. I haven't heard it called and accidental tuck. If you are talking about the front tuck I think the French started it. It's also called a French tuck. But if you are talking about the half tuck on the button down I am not sure where that came from and I am not a fan.

Honestly I think it is personal preference. Mine hit the floor just slightly and I'm okay with it. If you can find the sweet spot where you can wear them with both flats and heels that would save you from having to purchase a second pair.

Great tips! I liked the shorter camel blazer best on you, but also the ”moto” jacket. Thinking of proportions, could one perhaps apply a ”factor” to the height for an ideal length of a blazer? I am 5 11” and I prefer blazers that are at least 0,4 times my height in length.

Those black pants seemed like a great piece to try. I wear same sizes you do except 26 in jeans and I’m not quite 5’3”. When I checked Target online the smallest they offered was a 2. I tried those today and they were way way too big. Oh well!! Good video. Lots of very helpful tips. Thanks for your efforts to help all of us! What is the perfect length of wide leg trousers? If I wanna wear flat as well as heels

If your heels are high you may need to have 2 different pairs unfortunately. Unless you can find a happy medium. With flats they need to land just above the floor so they don't drag. The ones in the video that I have on look like they might drag the floor and they really don't when I walk. But I am going to hem them just a bit shorter. With heels they should sit on the foot and be an inch or so off the floor depending on the heel height. Always look in the mirror with the shoe on and pin them up a couple of different times to see what you like. It really is personal preference.

I really think that is personal preference. The trend is to have a slouchy look and I like mine just a little bit on the slouchy side. But they would also look good at a length that is about a half inch from the floor so they don't touch the floor.

The only thing i would try for that pink cardigan would be to maybe reverse it with buttons at the back... fix your issues of the buttons. But that would prob work best if the pant was a mid to light wash wide leg denim not the high contrast black as you say
