I feel weak when I get hungry. It saps my energy.

This information is priceless. Thank you, Dr. Fuhrman. I'm 62 and vegan for 7 years. I noticed a decrease in hunger once changing from the Standard American Diet to a cooked vegan diet. Recently, I started my raw vegan food journey. I thought that by consuming 80%+ raw foods, I would be hungry all the time. But the reverse is true. I'm hardly ever hungry, certainly not like I was before on the SAD diet or even eating cooked vegan foods. I attribute this to the enzymes in raw fruits and veggies. But this presentation has given me a more thorough understanding of the role that nutrients play in controlling hunger. I am getting more nutrients in raw fruit and veggies and that is why I am not overly hungry. I take no medications and have perfect bloodwork. I intend to keep it that way.

It took my body a little over a month to BELIEVE that I was going to continue to eat this way.....now it's been 9 weeks and things are starting to change. As Dr Fuhrman says, if you're not losing weight etc., you are NOT a Nutritarian. It took me a while to really commit, but once I started to lose weight, I said -OK! It's time to trust the process 100% . I honestly love to eat this way and my addiction is getting weaker and weaker.....

Yes, they are. Expensive & you feel bad, they do damage to your body and mind - illnumerable cost with eating highly processed junk, meats, dairy, eggs, etc.!

This was such an excellent talk about the affects of nutrition on different groups of people, including children and cultures. It is the exposures not the genetic predispositions causing the medical issues and disease. It’s about food availability and choices. Knowledge and understanding is so key. Many blessings to you Dr. Fuhrman for shedding light on the current food addictions and exposures of today.

It never dawned on me the "hangry" sensation does match what we associate with withdrawal symptoms. That was the biggest eye opener.

I am totally on board with what he’s saying it makes total sense. However, I have been a plant-based vegan eating G bombs only organic at least 2 pounds of vegetables a day maybe three or four at least 12 ounces of greens and I still suffer symptoms of. dysphoria. Perhaps mygut just needs a rest from food however, I am a recovered compulsive overeater maintaining a 100 pound late weight loss for over 20 years and when I attempted fasting it sends me in a downward cycle with binging

We need to redesign refrigeration systems. We need to increase produce storage from 2 drawers to 4 drawers. Older homes and rentals usually only allow for an 18 cu ft refrigerator which is stifling to anyone who likes to eat fresh produce. I was forced to buy an additional refrigerator…it allowed me to have another 3 cu ft (mini…small condo). I struggle…living with a carnivore doesn’t help.

I relate. I'm blessed to have a large fridge to myself where Iive that I fill up. I'm predominantly raw vegan and in a share house with 4 meat eaters, not ideal

I have worked in the food industry for a while. Last stint was at a factory which produced pastries, pies and tarts, and crumbles. And doughnuts and yum yums, the most revolting things on Earth. Even before working there, I couldn't stomach the things, I could feel my blood glucose level taking off like a rocket, and my thighs burning (I think it's because of increased blood flow to the adipocytes. When I eat junk food, I become very, very pear shaped, I go from a size 10 to a size 14 in trousers, i.e. I put on 8 kilos... located in the thighs mainly, and a bit in the buttocks). So those yum yums, the way they are produced, the sheets of dough are folded up, then cut up in rectangles, then the little bricks of uncooked dough drop off the conveyor belt into a swimming pool of hot rapeseed and palm oil... and while they are floating on there, and being 'grilled' from above (like in an open oven), a guy with a very long spatula like thing turns them around so that they get 'grilled', and soaked in oil, on all sides... then they land on a conveyor belt again, while they travel on it, the oil drips off somewhat, and they are grabbed by staff who pack them in plastic crates (lots and lots of rejects). Once they have cooled off, they are taken (still inside the crates, which are piled up to form towers over 2 meters high) to another area, where they get packed up in cardboard boxes, sometimes with added caramel or chocolate sauce (with very little cocoa) on top. And guess who is being fed that? Children and elderly people in nursing homes. Basicallly, anyone who doesn't have their teeth yet/anymore and struggle to chew! Those yum yums must do wonders to accelerate the damage done to people's CNS by Alzheimers, dementia, strokes...

So very true, doctors are a part of the problem, but it’s the system they work under that also needs to be completely revamped. Our governments are failing us miserably as they are in charge of the medical systems.

I saw a video that said when I’m eating and digesting, that’s the catabolic state and when the food is broken down into its monomers and the body uses them to build stuff, that’s the anabolic state. Dr. Fuhrman’s video said that anabolic comes first followed by catabolic. Have I got that right or is my brain damaged from all the Fruity Pebbles my Auntie Kathy fed us when we would visit? (It was always better to go over there)

I don't know when this talk was recorded, but regardless of which presidential administration it was recorded, sadly it was unnecessary to make a reference to politics and the currently sitting president (at that time) even if it was just a general statement and that he corrected himself to refer to any president. We have enough political divide, let alone bad health issues. Let's try and deal with one thing so we can focus on what we need to correct, not what divides us.
