As someone who lives in the southwest (Arizona), I think the type of tent you get depends on the specific area you'll be camping in. Yes, we are known for our hot summers, but the fall and winter can get surprisingly cold. The entire state is surprisingly dry, but condensation can still be an issue if you're not prepared for it. You definitely want good ventilation. Not only to prevent condensation, but also if you're going to camp in the summer, it can get quite hot. However, if you're camping in the colder months, that's something to consider, too. I'd prefer a tent that has plenty of ventilation, AND lots of zippable windows so you can zip them up to retain as much heat as you need. Arizona's terrain is varied and so is the climate. So your tent needs may be different depending on whether your camping in the deserts or the mountains. Just something to keep in mind.

Condensation comes from the tenters’ breath, not so much from the environment. If the tent is not great quality and the seams have not been sealed moisture most definitely will get in. But condensation is from moisture in breath

I re-watched this to help me decide which of the several tents that I own to take with me on an upcoming trip. I decided to bring my 4P cabin vs my 6P dome (I can stand up in both of them) since my cabin tent has steel poles vs. the fiberglass ones on my 6P, and easier solo setup with my cabin tent. I will be bringing my 2P bike-packing tent (aluminum poles) for in-transit overnight camping and as a backup.

If you know for sure it's going to be dry you'll be fine. If the temp is dipping at night a ground cloth may prevent some condensation build up at night. To be honest, unless it's going to rain I don't use one.

Thanks for this helpful video! I myself bought a pop up cabin tent, and j disagree that the size in storage and transport is "large". Perhaps it's all relative, but the whole reason I bought this tent is because ny Gazelle T4+ is just too much. It's too heavy, takes up an enormous amount of space, is difficult to set up by yourself without damaging, and just generally too much! Great tent, just overkill. Thanks again!

I like the Coleman 6-person or 8-person Evanston style of dome tent because I want to be able to set my camp chair in the shade or under cover when it rains in the tent's porch. I used the 4-person style for over ten years, but it was not quite tall enough for me to stand up in. I believe I could stand up (6'-0") in the 6-person, but certainly in the 8-person variety. Today it is selling for under $120. The skeeter net is just a bonus for me, I only need the shade/cover offered by the extension of the dome to the front. Either one will sleep 2 adults on separate cots. I used the 4-person tent as a single for me and my cot.

@LoneCrowAdventures

When I camped in Texas we used a dome tent, mostly due to the high winds in the Guadalupe Mountains which is where we were camping. Texas doesn't seem to have near the humidity of the midwest or the northeast so I think you'd be happy with a cabin tent so long that it's not going to be super windy. Those Guadalupe Mountains can produce mega winds!

We spent about 5x years in Peoria so I've used all 3x types of tents. I like the dome style tent the best for Illinois mainly due to the wicked thunderstorms that can pop up. I always look for a peak to ground rainfly. My personal favorite tent is the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6. It is a dome tunnel style and you don't have to crouch to get in it. I'll send the link so you can check it out but they discontinued the model 2x years ago. It's a good launch pad to start from though. amzn.to/3IPLgyW

I have an extremely loose term for what is considered a house. I consider anything you live in a house so a tent is a house. You can easily purchase a $5,000 tent house and you’ll save $395k (98.75% off discount) compared to purchasing a $400k detached family house. Even a cave in which no one pays money for is also a house.

Hi, the Wenzel Klondike 8 person tent is basically a two room tent. It has a front room that acts as a screened in porch with a completely enclosed (sealed on the sides, top, and bottom, accessed through a zippered door) sleeping area. This, to me, is a perfect layout. The problem is it's not an instant tent, and the screen area is lower than the sleeping area. Is there a tent out there that has those features but an instant tent with the same height across the tent?
@LoneCrowAdventures
