It's actually not hard. When you've been jamming with each other for decades. And it's even easier when you all know what you're playing. If you've ever been in a band long enough you can just feel the music off each other. Whether it's a gift or not, as a drummer I can play with any random guitarist, jam out and keep the timing in sync. Most musicians should know what im talking about. That perfect time synchronization of improvised groove. Hell, I'd even add music is the closest thing we can get to actual real magic.

Believe me celebrities & or their agents ring the SNL phone off the hook or Lorne's to get on the show unless they're so super cool and rock star fabulous that it's the show that calling l them if they could. I know Paul McCartney has done the show but Lorne tried for years to get all 3 former Beatles to appear together when George Harrison was still alive. He offered them a ton of money too but they still declined.
