I still have one of these Makita 6093 drills. It's even older than the one that you have. Mine originally came with a keyed chuck (no keyless chucks for portable drills back then) that I replaced with the keyless chuck several years later. I don't remember exactly when I bought it but the date on the manual is December 1986 so they're older than you believe.

My Dad bought a similar drill back in the 80s. He built and remodeled a lot of houses with it. It still has the original batteries, and they do hold a charge. I did buy new batteries online. I occasionally break it out and use it.

The knob on top is for low or high gear !!
@jeffdawes902910 ай бұрын
Yes, the knob on is for high and low gear. And the line needs to be perpendicular to the direction of the of the drill bit to be in one gear or the other.

My dad used an older type of this drill while in trade school in the mid to late 1980s and they had the keyed chucks which my dad hated because you would always loose the key for the chuck and the battery would have a memory which means that you had to completely use up the battery otherwise if they still had some juice in the battery it would stop charging and it would cook the battery

I just bought a angle grinder, jig saw a drill that came in a 3 piece Its a lighter blue color and they are corded. Brand new for 20 dollars, swear to god. Deal of the century. I cant find any information on them. Just looking to know how old they are. They also threw in a hammer drill with the same color for another 20.

It's not damaged it's just not in high or low gear.

The selecter needs to be perpendicular to the drill to be in one gear or the other.
