I wish there were more shows like the Affair. It just gets you thinking about the nature of self, of truth, and the beguiling mysteries of what it really means to know someone. Is the self knowable? Can we tolerate ourselves? How much of our lives, of our behavior can we account for? Is the person you're with .... knowable? Or perhaps we know too much? Too much is known. Do we need mystery? Is mystery, or the seductive journey toward discovery itself, enough to drive the life force forward?
