Great video Rachel. Bog looks Fantastic!!! Growth this season is triple of that from last year. I use distilled water for all plants, except when I flush them. And all feed is less than a third of what's recommend on my orchids. You are lucky with your well. Thanks Rachel...stay cool and enjoy the day. 👍

Thinking of getting carnivorous plants soon to help combat the flies on my balcony (they seem to like my Coleus). A question maybe best for the european audience: is there a filter brand that also filters to (pretty much) 0 TDS? ZeroWater is pretty expensive here, it seems. The one shown in the video is twice as expensive here, as are the spare cartridges. I can buy bottles of demineralized water here pretty cheap, but that adds up in empty plastic bottles pretty quickly.

Thanks so much for all the information! I got my first venus fly trap and have been needing help before I get more carnivorous plants!

I got curious about jour notebook and/or journal. I would really appreciate it if you would create a vlog for fishkeeping, breeding, water parameters, etc. What should, what is recommended and what is worth recording. Such notes are a good aid in a learning curve, that is why I am asking you to that if you will.

Liked. I've also read that drinking water ideal should be around 150-200 on TDS. My well runs 30-40. So great for carnivorous plants. Drinking low TDS water can cause health issues. Won't have to worry about kidney stones though. 😉

Another option possibly is store RO water and mix half and half with tap water. I have many houseplants but tap is way too high around 400 tds second worst in USA. So before I bought a RO system I did half RO from store half tap since I have many houseplants and it was never practical to go full RO. This was not for carniverous plants but would work if it would bring your tds within range. I also used sodium thiosulfate which is fish tank dechlorinator on the tap water. I'm pretty sure chlorimines cause leaf tip browning. Seemed to stop when I did that.

Hey, what container did you use for your bog garden? And how much sun do you give them?
@Plantaholic4 жыл бұрын
I have two bog gardens, one is in a terrazo bradley sink that I upcycled, the other is in a resin whiskey barrel. They are both full sun gardens, getting at least 7 hours of direct sun a day.

Hey Rachel. I have a strange worm that is eating my plants and sandwiching itself between cut pieces of leaf in my pond. And clue what it is and what I can do?
@robertforrest79564 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a cut worm, ask a local nurseries if they might know what type.

Yes that’s really low and fine for carnivorous plants

Would it be easier if you covered or painted the ibc container of rainwater to prevent algae growth? I love your sarracenia and I see blooms on some. Great comparison video.
@Plantaholic4 жыл бұрын
Its irrelevant for the the outside stuff, and I only need a gallon a week for the inside plants so the water filter, at $40 or less, is a very easy solution
@jonisolis96454 жыл бұрын
@@Plantaholic How long will the ibc container last with sun shining on it? I want to get one but I want to cover it somehow to make it last longer.

That's a lot of tatoos you have. As for Venus Fly Traps, the instruction sheet said not to feed it dead flies, I wonder why?
