Oh my word … 🦐 I can not THANK YOU enough for recommending royal reds!!! These were life changing and such an enjoyable experience! I wanted to share the place I found, close to where I stayed in destin, Dewey Destins Harbor side, they have a few locations but we chose this one. We got the royal reds 🤤and they were out of this world! Huge mound, includes potato and corn and not expensive at all $24. Definitely try the jack scallops too! Hope you get back to the beach soon!!! I love this video! My wife and I are headed to Destin in August. I'm also looking forward to the seafood. I did notice they had a Whataburger and was going to try it. I still might.

I’m so sorry y’all didn’t like Whataburger. We had Whataburger last night for dinner. My favorite is the mushroom Swiss burger and onion rings. Maybe you have to grow up eating them to appreciate them. 😊🍔 All of your seafood meals look delicious!

Hi Maggie, no offense to those who grew up eating it and love it. I honestly think it was what we ordered and the fact that it was in Florida. We lived in California and would often eat at the Portillos there, which is a Chicago chain and now living here in Chicago, we realize how different it was in California and how much better it is here. I have no idea why. So we thought it might have to do with that. I would totally try it again if ever in Texas. I also realized that the mushroom Swiss burger looked really good only after I had already placed my order. I wish I got that instead...that sounds like my jam! And yes the seafood was all so good...it's hard to watch back because I start drooling haha!

@@ChefJulieYoon I'm with y'all. We have tried Whataburger in Texas as well as other places and just weren't overly impressed. They weren't terrible, just not "all that."

My favorite place to eat is Vintij! As a local I will always recommend! One of the best places in Destin ☺️

Actually I can't really rely on Yelp, but it is where I check first. Then I go on blogs and read what they have to say. The Shrimp Shack had mixed / low reviews on Yelp but it was our favorite meal! I am glad I got the tip to get the royal reds though... I still dream about that shrimp!

Another great vacation blog. Texans are going to totally disagree with you about whatsburger. It’s like the holy grail here. I’m vegetarian so I’ve never had it. But Texans swear by it. Lol

I totally agree with you...I know how it feels. It's like me and cheesesteaks cuz I'm a Philly girl...some people don't like them and I'm like...don't even play! I really think it's the fact that we didn't have it in Texas. Even if it's a chain, I notice that chains do the best from the place they originated from...it's like that secret je ne sais quoi. I feel like that when it comes to Portillos...it's the best in Chicago! I will definitely try it again whenever I'm in Texas and also order something different. Glad you enjoyed the vacay vlog!

Maybe it was what I ordered and the fact that my burger was cold and not juicy too, which is half the battle for me. Uh oh...I bet you guys are right and I'm gonna be hearing it from all the Texans now! Yikes! 😱

We love our Whataburgers in Texas...at least when it comes to fast food burgers! We don't eat fast food often and In and Out is not in our community. Mostly I like Whataburger because they offer grown-up tastes...NOT like McDonald's. I like the Avocado bacon burger and the mushroom swiss burger. My daughter loves the Patty Melt. I never get a regular burger there. But, like I said...we don't eat fast food often. We go to Gulf Shores, AL now because it's closer for us in Dallas. But next time you go, you should drive to Rosemary Beach instead. It's about the same distance from Chicago but is a less crowded, less touristy beach. See if you can find a condo to rent on the beach in a private subdivision. I grew up going to Destin every summer as a kid but it just got so crowded over the years now all my friends go to Rosemary Beach.

Wow thanks Cathy for your awesome tips! I'll definitely keep this in mind. Thanks even for the tip about Whataburger...I soon realized I ordered the wrong thing and it's all about the "specialty" burgers. I was seriously so close to ordering the Mushroom Swiss and then changed my mind at the last minute...darn! I agree about Destin being crowded...and with it being the pandemic, I was kind of nervous, especially in the really touristy spots. But anyhoos, we'll have to check out Rosemary Beach next time!
