this supposed cruise ship stranding on an African island is all over the news. so I wanted to make a video and talk about the key takeaways travelers should learn from it. The cruise ship passengers were not really stranded, they made the decision to book an excursion from a third party provider, instead of booking an official excursion with the cruise line. when you're on a cruise and you stop at different destinations, the cruise line offers shore excursions and adventures, but you can also do your own thing and book things independently. The big difference is if you do an official excursion, the ship will wait for you. if there's a problem or in the worst case they will handle the transportation to get you to the next destination. if you book an excursion with a third party company and there's a issue or delay, as happened here, the ship will not wait. The cruise line is not going to inconvenience two or three thousand people because you are running late. and the cruise lines really go overboard haha. in announcing departure times and deadlines that you have to be back on the ship. so these people knew what time they had to be back on the ship and they made the decision to book this excursion with a third party company and this is what can happen. so cruise ship passengers should be very careful when booking excursions or tours outside of the cruise company.
