That’s exactly what thay do. Taika would go cause chaos just for fun to flex his creativity. In NZ These guys had a culture of improv, Wellington had improv battle live shows. The battle to see who could be the most outrageously creative. All kiwi actors join these groups to hone their skills and out comes awesome writing and great shows and movies and great (if underpaid) careers. Many people this talented who’ve been creative together for years are devising this stuff together. Here in NZ we have insane mini shows like this on our tv all the time. Wellington paranormal is just like this barely making any money but definitely one-par with this. Even the mini version set in a school called “Educators” is insane and has half these guys In it. “The breakerupperers” has this kiwi tone and I so funny. It’s a pity that they can be some of the most innovative talent but live hand to mouth trying to get funding for this amazing art form they kinda created.

Taiko is one of, if not THE funniest directors in current times in my opinion. He is so funny. I watched the original short film ages ago, but this full film is such a modern gem. I love it. Vlad the poker's evil laugh when he's on the line with the phone company is great. He laughs like he just did some MASSIVE evil plan, when all he did was use his gifts to make them not owe on the bill. Or his excitement when he learns he can poke people on facebook. Lmao Taiko based his mannerisms on his own mother. It's great seeing him be the mom of the group. I can list a million more reasons as to why i love this film.. It deserves more attention. Jojo Rabbit is REALLY good too. Such a great film.. very emotional in some spots. My nickname given to me growing up by my mother and sisters was actually JoJo or bunny (when i was little), as my name is Joey but my sisters preferred saying jojo. I digress. Great films. Great director. He's filming the next starwars. While last jedi made me abandon the sequel trilogy altogether for the shitty way luke was handled...i KNOW he will do good on his film.

How is he an 18th century dandy ? He is 379 years old. That's 1635 considering the movie came out in 2014.
@lapsusmemoriae38315 жыл бұрын
Ohoho, I'll tell you more! (I'm not an expert, just my thoughts on periodisation (and sorry for mistakes, if there would be any, I'm not a native speaker)) 1. Dandy is a term for the XIX century subculture, so there's no way you can be a XVIII century dandy. Moreover, being a dandy means not only dressing nicely, but also being cold and pretentious to some degree (dandy appeared in GB during Romantic era, and some of the defining characteristics of English romantic protagonist are feeling of isolation, suffering because of it and still not wanting to be accepted, as they feel superior to ""liars surrounding them"". So basicaly dandies strived for stating they're atypical, but not so atypical they should be excluded. (English romantic type is still present in modern media, e.g. BBC Sherlock and Sweeney Todd)). 2. Viago is not cold and pretentious, so even if he had been born in the XIX century, he couldn't be a dandy! And he actually takes a lot from German romantic protagonist, who also suffers and feels excluded, but his main conflict is one-sided love. (E.g. Müller's "Winnterreise" and "Die Schöne Müllerin", Goethe's "Faust") So for English tradition love conflict is "we can't be together, because she's just like them and also I have commitment issues" (e.g. Lermontov's "Hero of our time"), and for German tradition love conflict is "we can't be together, because she just doesn't love me :(". Besides German romantics LOVED fairytales, so even "oohohohh LOOOK ZE GHOST CUP" thing kinda suits them more. 3. "My mother was an exotic performer" - would make more sense if Viago had been born in the second half of the XIX century, because that's when orientalism was reeeeally fashionable (it all started after French campaign in Egypt). E.g. Delibes' "Lakme", Rimsky-Korsakov's "Sadko" and "Scheherazade", Kipling's "The jungle book", Lermontov's "Mtsyri". I'm sure exotic performers existed in the XVIII century, but they were rather seen as barbaric and appalling than unusual and attractive. In conclusion, don't even try to seek logic.

@@lapsusmemoriae3831 Thank you for this explanation, it is was very much appreciated. @cheezarose4 жыл бұрын
@@lincolny2220 This is not about the character but the writers. The story establishes his age as being 379 in 2014 but he says he was born in 1795 but at no point is this pointed out,if it was made to be a mistaken on purpose somebody who have pointed it out. Also,all the characters dress as a rendition of the style in fashion when they were bit, except him.
