As a past AT&T Corp employee I was part of the beginning of The Network Disaster Recovery that was started back in 1990s as Fiber and Internet were just making large network impact. Nice to see they have keep it growing from the small start.

Had the privilege to visit an ATT active DR drill in Chicago around 15 years ago. They come with everything to replace a CO, including their own cafeteria, security, sleeping quarters, absolutely everything. At that time, they had three of these DR setups staged around the country. Not aware of any other carrier that does anything close to this.

Impressive, but I wonder if it wouldn't be better if it were still under the Bell System and not broken up. They had some impressive nationwide DR with no pointing fingers - virtually everything was theirs to support/repair.

It is nice to see in the event of a disaster AT&T is ready . This is a service we all think will be there in the event , but nature does not pick who what or where it destroys stuff , even communication towers !

Technology has advanced a lot since the 90s. All hell breaks loose, 2 trucks with satellite dishes establish communication within hours..

I had ATT internet, well it worked until we got rain or when a tech was in the area then we always lost connection. I dumped them 10 years ago and no more lost internet.

It's not, I worked emergency communications with International Red cross. They drop you your truck and your equipment in the middle of God only knows where they promise you good support and good security. He spent the next 4 days eating cold MREs, I'm getting yelled at by someone from the National Guard that has no authority over you. But telling you to wanting to know why you and the three guys that came with you did not put up the four portable 125 ft crank up towers. That each one requires at least six men to install. And have the microwave relay established. And they're still lightning and thunder striking continuously.😂

Unfortunately there's been a trend in the last 25 years or so to take anyone regardless of how bad their vocal ability is or even the sound of their voice. And give them jobs in broadcasting because how they look. She fit a certain look that they wanted for The Narrative of this video and the company that was shooting it. In General Media outlets and Technical groups are trying to use women as spokespersons, and Frontline reporters. Because it fits the narrative that we're not making this a male-dominated industry. Unfortunately what most broadcast Engineers do not want to admit but we all have to deal with it at some point in our career if you will have a woman that has a specifically high-pitched voice or a squeaky voice. And whatever that characteristic is will get accentuated when put through a microphone and a processing system the proof of this, is listening to any of the FM stations that have women disc jockeys they tended to have low Gravelly voices. This was specifically so that high-pitched perky sounding voices, when processed for broadcasting wouldn't become shrill and painful to the listener. Especially once processed. This same phenomenon holds true through today's digital systems including streaming and webcasting webcasting it actually takes a very talented audio person to take a person with a high pitch squeaky voice be a male or female and make it sound aesthetically pleasing😮

Sad with all the money they got to do first net they are still a bad network. Most first responders around here are staying with Verizon and or good reason.

In actual emergencies, First Net has been found to be a FAILURE ‼️ WHY❓Because it is a cellular service. In emergencies, cellular is always the first communications tool to fail❗️Cellular systems are easily and quickly overloaded by the general public. First Net prioritizes the cellular network for emergency responders. Unfortunately, cell sites are the first to fail during severe weather. The tower may come down or be damaged or the antennas destroyed. The commercial power fails and the backup generator fails to start. The backup batteries haven’t been properly maintained, which is often the case! Study’s have shown that the traditional 2 way simplex radio system, often provided by Motorola, and increasingly digital, is the most reliable for first responders and emergency communications.

Actually MOST local governments use Motorola or Siemens to provide RELIABLE emergency communications services. Verizon is no more reliable than ANY cellular provider after tornados, hurricanes, or any severe weather event.

Gotta Love long form commercials for services. Basically promising that they'll be there in a disaster to get our cell phones working again but then spends 10 minutes telling you how firstnet is there for first responders. Scary that First Responders are relying on cellular technology. When before they rely on technology that was installed and maintained by the local municipality. Theoretically designed to withstand disasters an emergency. Now they're using off the shelf cell phone technology same problem with the news media they're using bonded cellular technology to send video back to the studio. Instead of using their own microwave equipment. Mostly it's more convenient most of the time it works. Except in the case of CNN at the funeral in russia. Where their system cut out. CNN claimed it was jamming getting out there anyone that works in broadcasting, recognized what it was. The system was overloaded and started to drop high band with users. Using The Narrative of jamming was more dramatic when talking about anything in the Soviet union, making it sound more sinister.
