I agree the deals were better before actual Black Friday
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
It felt weird this year. Like totally opposite of prior years I’ve shopped. Glad I got things early! I’ve also seen some really good deals again right now. Seems like they jacked prices up around Black Friday 🤔

You are fantastic, a great example to people trying to get out of debt and still be so generous with your family for Christmas.

Fisher Price stuff is the best! We bought our youngest daughter a FP dollhouse and tons of accessories when she was little. She is 34 now lol. It lived in our attic for a number of years and then when our first granddaughter was born (she is 15 now) - we drug the dollhouse out of the attic, cleaned it all up and she and her friends played and played with it. Our 6 year old granddaughter also still plays with it and we just found out we have another grandchild on the way so the old dollhouse may have yet another life entertaining another child. I am so, so glad we kept it.

I actually still have my original too!! And my daughter now plays with it. So glad my parents kept it. I’m thinking I’ll keep our Barbie little people house forever honestly LOL

Love that you choose the cheaper gifts to be from Santa. Cause for many kids, they'll come from families that are struggling financially. And they may wonder why Santa gets other kids expensive stuff & not them.

I don't do much shopping anymore. I don't have any children of my own, so when my nieces and nephews were young I loved to shop for them and find something they really wanted, but now they range in age from 18 to 24, so money or gift cards are more to their liking. Enjoy your Christmas holiday!
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
I definitely feel like my days are numbered with gifts for my oldest niece and nephew for sure! Their lists are getting smaller and more expensive!

I think you did really well! I understand going overboard. I have a tendency to do that with my children as well. You really got some great gifts that I know they will enjoy. They definitely won't feel like they're having a lighter Christmas, even though you mentioned going lighter this year. This is a wonderful Christmas for your children, and would be for any children. Do you also do a stocking stuffers video?

I definitely feel like we could have gone even more minimal. I’d like to try out something like the “something to wear/read/want/need” next year

So I have to tell you -- you inspire me every year because I feel you are generous, but not way over the top. We save all year, and I also shop all year clearance etc. if I know it will be something my son or a person on my list will for sure love. The first sale in November at Walmart, I purchased $255 worth of Legos at Walmart for $115 and I spent a total on that sale of $135 and I will eventually get 10% back from Rakuten -- I could not believe it! It pays to save anyway you can, Merry Christmas! I also remembered to budget this year for extra food and baking supplies etc. My almost 7 year old is really into Science -- the Periodic Table. So we got him an acrylic Periodic Table for his room, a Periodic Table poster, and a magnet Periodic Table set I found randomly at Target Dollar spot -- we are gonna put them all together in one gift.

I think you bought great gifts for your family! I am done shopping except for books, close to Christmas my youngest daughter (22)and I head to a major bookstore and get books for my family. It's fun, we have coffee and cookies, browse in a relaxed setting, getting all the Christmas feels! Hope you and yours have a Very Merry Holiday!

My son's Birthday is December 21st so I also have to be very intentional about keeping it separate. My son will be 11 this year. He asked for white crocs (he knows I would never willingly buy white 😂), a lava lamp, and everything Rubix Cube. Rubix Cubes are huge right now amongst his friends. He got a digital clock that projects the time on the ceiling, a new water bottle, baseball bat grip tape, a new devotional, a magnetic Dart Board & he specifically requested a fuzzy rug to go under his mini pool table in his play room. I mean "man cave" 😉
@DearDebt Жыл бұрын
Oh my gosh my son loves crocs too. He’s obsessed lol. Grip tape would be an awesome stocking stuffer too, that is awesome! This age of boys is so much fun 🤩😂

So many things resented with me. I typically go way overboard at Christmas I get my kids 8-10 things my nieces and nephews 3 things but downsizing to 2. My daughter is 12 and like your son is getting out of totes she still loves scribble scribbles 😂 I don’t care if she is 12 she likes them she got them (last year) so i think your daughter will like them . My daughter says when some you get friends comes over (I have a daycare) they play with them together ❤. She is also redoing her room so got some organizing things, new bedding, and decor. My son is 17 soon 18 and im struggling he is changing the clothes he wears so it hard to find him something he likes without his opinion. He sent me two Amazon links so he got those but im at a loss how’s both my kids have January birthday as well I love these videos so fun to see what others get good deals etc. looking forward to the stocking and husband video

We buy Amazon gift card at the grocery store each week (or other gift cards to use as gifts for others) last night we loaded $300 of Amazon money and bought 20 gifts (all my daycare kids, most of my daughter, a couple for son and something for nephew ) and we have Amazon money left it’s a inking fund for us 😝

Our kids went through a phase of loving laser tag. Loved your video. Just subscribed. I love that you started your channel to get debt free. I also have a channel and used to practice as a dentist and praying that the channel will be a good income source for our family as well. I would love to be friends and connect here. I need to make my Christmas gift video. I’m so bad about doing them in time. lol. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

I am the weird one in my family with this opinion, I wish my parents limited the number of gifts we got over the years, a lot has been passed down to younger generations now though except a few types of items. However, family usually does secret santa for the kids and one big present from our parents with stockers. I think its a better idea in the family since each person has a different budget to go by. I agree with over-spending for gifts as its something some of us like to do - limiting how many gifts helps a lot. 😄

I am mostly done shopping. Waiting on some stuff to come in. Will probably buy more stuff next week but it's not for Christmas. My kids will be with me so it will either be stuff that they buy from me later or it will be for another holiday/birthday. My kids are 12, 8, and 4 and I have made one yet but I will be doing videos on what I got them, along with other family members.
