I watched a bunch of videos how the MWII bundle PS4 would be the last PS4 manufactured by Sony sold in USA and I bought it thinking I could use it as an investment. But then I eventually opened it and now intend to jailbreak it once 10.00 or later is jailbroken and give it to a family member with kids. The PS5 is the PS5, I don’t feel bad about owning one because I saved a year to buy it.

One thing to consider is Sony will continue to support the PS4 for years but they will consider the EOL of the console at an earlier time. What I mean is Sony considered the PS3s EOL years ago they are only doing the yearly updates to be nice they arent doing it. And another example the PS2s EOL was considered by fans in the middle of the PS4s life cycle. However the rest of the information in this video is amazing as always keep up the great work.

I have a day one PS4 on launch firmware. Never updated because I wanted to wait for a jailbreak, only used it for a total of 10 minutes. Without updating, what can I do with it? Do I have to update to 9.00 to jailbreak or do anything fun with it? I still have the box and everything.

Well.. yeah. The first jailbreak was for 1.76 but it hasn't been supported in like 7 years now and 90% of the games dumped won't work. Then there was 4.05 but it came and went pretty quickly. Right now, your PS4 needs to be on either 5.05 or 9.00. I would say 6.72 is also decent but it's inferior to the other 2 to be honest when it comes to stability. Basically it's like this: 5.05: Stable & fast but you can't play some games that weren't backported 9.00: Stable & fast but you need to use a USB flash drive to enable the jailbreak Then there is also 7.02 and 7.55 but these are quite unstable, I was a 7.02 user for a while, a lot of crashes and sometimes it would take more than 5 minutes of attempts to enable the exploit.

@@soulslip PS4 jailbreak is easy and stable nowadays. You cache a website offline, open it, insert the usb when it asks you to, remove it and then select the GoldHEN payload. That's it. You can use rest mode after so you don't have to do this every time. PS2 and PS1 compatibility continue to improve as well, I was able to make games like the original Silent Hill trilogy work with no bugs on PS4. Just don't expect amazing compatibility though, some work, some work with bugs and some don't work at all so if you have a big list of old games, might as well keep the PS3 around.

Decided to finally switch from my PS3 to a jailbreakable PS4 shortly before first hints of that exploit potentially usable for a new JB appeared. It was such an annoying process to find a (pre) 9.00 device in good condition for a fair price. After weeks and within an offer looking like scam I finally found a seldomly used (a microscratch beneath the HDMI-slot from a litttle slip being the only mark of use at all), SSD-Upgraded Pro in its 2nd iteration running on an 6.XX FW (and not that jailbreakable one as well, so I knew it wasn't used for that purpose) and without any low FW or storage upgrade markup but at a pretty usual mid-range price tag for a Pro model with its HDD in fine condition. So don't give up, it's still possible in 2024, though a pita. Thank you, dear private seller, who thoroughly named but still hid that important FW-detail somewhere in the description and simply forgot to upload more pics than just a single one of the box only, even though he had shot about 20 HQ-ones of everything what was offered in all detail before and had not hesitated to send them along some friendly lines. All hate for platforms which mix or completely replace the plain, simple *results* of a search with mere suggestions based on what brings the most profit for them. I prefer no result instead of a crap excuse of a result all the time.

Yes as long as you were on 11.0 and went straight to 11.2 without any shenanigans, you should be able to revert to 11.0 as the flash chip still remembers the previous firmware of 11.0
