Gooner here. We are now mentally tough. But it didnt happen overnight. The year we were 8 points clear of City, I still knew that we were not good enough to bring the title home. Funnily enough, I actually think Spurs are tougher this year than last year. I cant see any game this year where you will be totally outplayed. You wont have a game this year like u had against Chelsea last year. I wouldnt be too upset with only 4 points so far. You will have a good year so long as Ange gets the tactics right.

The bunching on the left hand side is really frustrating because Son has never needed help there. His game has always been get in behind and overtake the fullback, or beat him one on one. Watching that left side bunch up and drag three defenders across which doesn't play to Son's strengths at all is really frustrating. Great video as always mate.

100% correct Benny, we are lacking such self belief. People may think Angeball is a tactical formation where we invert our full back. That’s not the case, Angeball is a mentality where irrespective of what the game is saying we play our football which is a attacking dynamic front foot football. I can see esp in that second half players are lacking that mentality self belief. Trust Ange, Trust the PROCESS. COYS

Great for your support and believe but I don’t see any sign of a process in Ange’s approach. I do support Spurs more than anything but being factual rather than philosophical - if I replace Arsxx by ManU in your argument, I don’t think that stands. Johnson and Solanke have nothing of a Top 4 talent or potential - denying obvious shortcomings will not provide any progress, and expressing my opinion will also have no impact on the team’s performance.

The lack of confidence was astounding, the players look scared. Whether its Johnson or Son, the wingers were so off the pace yesterday. Feels like Kulusevski tried but didnt feel like he created much. Maddison is our creative dynamism, our odegaard or bruno, he's constantly trying to make something happen and create something with passing where as Kulu is more about driving and dribbling with the ball into the perfect area. Feel like Brennan/Son needs the ball in front of him but instead we constantly passed to their feet and it slowed the game down. Overall it felt like there wasn't enough direct runs off the ball and constant slowing the game down letting Arsenal get back in position, like we took no risks on the ball. Ange flogs them hard at training. Son, Johnson, Odobert just look so tired. They're supposed to have pace, yet didn't play to their strengths the entire game. Also, I hate how Maddison gets involved in the buildup at the back. That's Biss/Bentancur's job to do that. KDB largely leaves that job to Rodri. He'd not there in the forward middle position to create or shoot, which is one big reason why on the fast breakaways from the wings, the crosses aren't finding anyone in the box. That's where Madders should be!

Most frustrating part of the game yesterday was the lack of willingness of our wingers to attack 1v1. Son was a passenger for large parts of the game, Johnson had no interest in attempting. I’m fully behind Ange as I feel year 3 is when I think this team should be where they need to be. However some of his decisions have been frustrating. Johnson is much better as an impact sub and change of pace. He seems so much more comfortable in that role and Ange insists on starting him. Werner should be a cup player only and bringing him on yesterday to me made no sense. I think it’s time to give Bergvall, Gray and some of the other youngsters a chance first in cup games but also premier as well. It’s a process and I’m still seeing a bunch of positives. We just need to be a bit patient but Ange needs to help himself out as well.

@@julesbrunton1728 Based off of last season he did tend to rotate heavily in cups. That’s what I meant by that statement. I do agree I hope Ange takes the cup as serious as you mention I feel we can make a run and gain momentum.

Really love your analysis of the game. It’s good to see it broken down like that especially since I end up closing my eyes a few times as a coping mechanism 😂 truth is I think we have a multi layered problem - it’s a combination of not having the type of quality of midfielders we need in order to play in this system, we’re also not playing Son the way we should in order to get the best out of him …. And I may be wrong about this but I feel like we have a few players that have lost belief in the system - Romero, Maddison and maybe even Son. For Brennan it’s def a confidence issue and if ppl stop abusing him and get behind him that will def change … but if you watch Maddison’s recent interview , when asked about Ange’s system you can see his hesitation there, he lacked confidence in his response

Love your vid's Ben, keep them comming. Romero shouldn't be the only player under focus for the goal (I do think it's a foul and agree he should have made a meal out of it in an attempt to win the FK), it's not just about 1v1 duels which are sometimes they are won and sometimes they are lost defending is a collective, so you have to look at Solanke and Bentancur role, it is their job to mark the zone, the zone where the ball was placed and BOTH of them got sucked under the ball, they barely jumped - THIS is their job to get to that ball. Which brings me onto to Vicarrio, he's is no way going to get to that cross because he has to out jump FOUR players (x2 Spurs and x2 Woolwich), he's also not coming to the ball because of the zonal protection that should have been provided by Solanke & Bentancur. I agree with virtually everything else your said. A lot has been said about Woolwhich being without x2 players, yet nothing about us being without Bis. Whilst I like Bentancur's passing range it is Bis who (has a different profile) is the fitter of the two and Bentancur faded really quickly in this game which kinda coincided with Woolwich playing higher up the pitch in spells. One final comment and that's Ange playing Oderbert on the right, I think we will see the best influence 1v1's when he's on the left.

@@BenBowman_ I was wondering the same things as you were, especially the bit about Maddison constipating the left side of the attack. He stood around after the match staring at the South Stand, which was weird. He just tries too hard and needs to stop going everywhere. He's very bright and should be able to figure out weaknesses. He should be constantly probing defences. He does need to stop falling down, because refs aren't giving the fouls and then we are exposed when the opposition wrestle possession back.

Great video. Fully agree on the point about leadership and mentality. This team is improving, but it’s still soft as shite unfortunately. Johnson - such a shame he’s being abused. But also, need to ask if it was mistake that Ange sanctioned so much money being spent to buy him. And then spending money on Bergvall and Gray. They’re all young, talented players. But are any of these mentally strong enough to be able to hold someone like Romero accountable, and match the top clubs when it comes to will to win. It feels dubious. Speaking of Romero - seems clear the bloke puts playing for Argentina above Spurs. He’s not this complacent playing for them. Increasingly falling out of love with him.

@@julesbrunton1728 Generally speaking, yes. I used Romero as an example because it seems like he has a mentality issue playing for Spurs as he far too regularly switches off and loses concentration, and I suspect it’s because he’s not held to the same level of accountability as he is playing for Argentina with all their big names/characters. Just want to see a squad with a flat hierarchy who are less interested in being pals with each other, and more focused on being ruthless winners, no matter the age or level of experience.

Fans need to learn the difference between dominating possession and dominating games. Arsenal had a plan. It's the same plan everyone will have. Let us have it in certain areas. Force us into areas where we're pretty useless. Only press in certain situations and only trigger moves from certain situations. This will happen all season. We'll have a lot ot the ball. The stats will show high touches in the box. But we'll struggle to score and we won't have many decent chances.

Spurs are an improved outfit this season, I could see that from their game against Arsenal. Spurs have become closer to Arsenal’s 22/23 title challenging side, particularly in their ability to box teams in and pressure cook them until they repent and give up a goal. The problem for Spurs is that they can still be manipulated tactically. Forcing them to change their build up shape, and dragging their attackers away from danger areas. This is what Arsenal did to them in the NLD . What Ange needs to do next, and why I think he is safe in his job, is to make Spurs a team that can change their attacking style to counteract the opponent. If Spurs can’t play short, then go more direct. Can’t build centrally, then carry the ball along the touchline. Use the set piece to open teams up. These changes come from shape adjustments, morning away from always inverting two FBs, etc. Spurs will be improved this season. Not good enough to catch up to City, Arsenal, Liverpool yet, but better yes

Our fanbase is so Spursy why our tream is Spursy , they scapegoat players they dont rate even when they had a good game for there standards but never have a go at Romero who is a liabity right now, his mistakes were all in our loses and Vicario is also the main issue but watch them have a lazy blame and blame it as a whole on the step up of the team

Arteta was 36 and a novice. Ange is almost 60 and managed numerous clubs. I think Ange would be embarrassed seeing our fans compare him to Arteta. But unfortunately lego man did show he could adapt to the PL to save his job. Ange hasn't changed anything, including his starting 11. Arteta had to get rid of most of the starters from seasons 1 - 3. If anything, Ange will lose his better players by year 3 if they're not seeing progress on the pitch. Romero already looks like his head is in Madrid. Levy won't replace him with a CB of similar quality.

What is wrong with people hammering our own players like that is going to help anyone…. Morons. We haven’t had a real leader since Leders in my opinion. We always seem short of someone who can grab the weaker players and lift them. We also need to be able to mix up our game. City played route one football for both of their goals at the weekend yet we seem so fixated on this way of playing we are too predictable. We claim we are dominating games but teams are quite happy for us to have the ball cos they know we won’t do anything with it. Vicario must stop worrying about what’s in front of him and solely focus on the ball if he can’t get to the ball through genuine attempt he will get a foul…. Lastly madders slows our already ponderous game down far too much. Prob lack of options but from our first 10 games last season we have lost the directness and confidence. So many things need addressing but those calling for ange out are mental. We will literally never get anywhere if we continue to chop and change.

What do you mean Kulu was excellent, he barely got on the ball! If Ange asks Kulu to do what Maddison does it will be the same result and we’ll be complaining about him instead, it’s tough to find a killer pass when everybody is static and there is no space!! Also, Maddison already has 2 assists, and could have another if someone connected with the crosses he was putting in, Solanke nearly scored of a Maddison cross, just don’t understand the Maddison hate, and I highly doubt Bergvall would be an improvement against PL opposition

Totally disagree on Kulu, he's arguably our most dynamic, most creative, hardest working attacker at the moment. Only one who really shows up when the chips are down in my opinion.

@@Kal_Al_Thor and failed to mention Maddison’s crosses, most of which in the danger area, there’s a reason he already has 2 assists, but still harping on him when Son did absolutely nothing yesterday

Am sorry i think all you ange is the right man , ange will get things right , he sort it out , but sorry you are deluding your Seth , spurs have lost 7 out of their last 11 games , in 2024 the only top team we have beat is villa , yes we have all the possession , the opposition don't worry , they know they will either score on the break or from a set piece , Ben you say your not worried about not scoring against Arsenal , because their defence is so strong , how can you say that when you know spurs guarantee giving away at least one goal per game , Ange is out of his depth

Romero needs to be sold next summer and we should spend the money on Isak or Gykores. Play VDV and Dragusin at CB and buy another 2 centre backs next summer. We need a better keeper, Vic isn't it. Porro to right wing. Gray to right back. Bergval to the 8. Kulu to 10. Odobert left wing. Son 9. Play Romero at 6. Sell Johnson, Richie, Son, Maddison next summer. Buy Eze, striker, a right winger, a number 6, 2 centre backs, a left back, better keeper. Moore and Lankshear need to start coming on 2nd half. I wanna see Romero 6, Bergval 8, Kulu 10 in our midfield. Romero will protect Bergval's turnovers but Bergval is our most creative player. Selling Romero, Son, Richie, Maddison, Johnson will nett us 270 million. Gykores/Isak 80 million, Eze 60million, Right wing 50million, number 6 50million, 2 centre backs 70 million, left back 40 million, keeper 40million.

We asked for attacking and exciting football.... now we don't want it? We ask the board to back the manerger.... yet we don't back him and want him sacked? This fan base are the problem with tottenham. Poch said we will have to go through a difficult rebuild yetbthe fans are to afraid to ride it out. I think ange is the man to go forward and we have to suffer the short term for long term gain, if anything one negative to ange is he needs to change and adapt. We have to just get behind the boys and go again this can be a successful season with a few changes..... to dare is to do coys

Idk what you're watching but I'm not watching exciting football. Like you said, Ange needs to demonstrate some form of change, adaptability, or progress for fans to be onboard. Aside from the first 10 games of the season, he has been poor and there has been no upward trend of performance.

@gg025 I agree with everything u have said and it's hard to argue with, the point I was trying to make is us spurs fans wanted attacking and exciting football after the few years that we have had under conte/ mourinho. The first 10 games of last season was just that but like I said he hasn't adapted he is stubborn in his tactics and we have be found out. I still back him I like him as a manager but I also think his time could be up if he doesn't show a progressive run of form over the next 5 games. I'm just trying to see the bigger picture because if we do sack ange then what. We are back to square one all over again and like history has shown us that hasn't worked.

But arsenal haven't won anything in 5 years. Mature, but so what? Arteta is a serial loser. And he plays a low block like a relegation team. Only a team which their fans can watch. We don't want gutless styles and managers to win titles. It's bad for football.

Quote by impostercouglou Just his outlook on football,” Postecoglou told The Athletic about his memories of playing under Puskas at South Melbourne. “Anyone would say his teams just wanted to outscore the opposition; that’s all he wanted to do. “He goes, ‘We will win 5-4 every week and I’ll enjoy it’. Ange we are not scoring so your philosophy is crap.

After we scored I was so happy when Ange bought replaced maders with a winger - kulu had Jorginhos number every time in the right channel, but when he was moved more centrally and you went with a front 4 you had no threat whatsoever.
