Knowing what to pack for travel is hard! Packing our bag in a minimalist way for travel, our tips and a semi guide can all be...⬇More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop - bit.ly/2PjaPey
Today we share whats in our kinda minimalist bags that we pack for travel, after 2 years full-time on the road. This isn't necessarily a guide on how to pack your bag or the travel packing essentials, but our own travel tips when it comes to what we pack to keep relatively minimalist on the road might be of use to you.
If you're interested in any of the products we mentioned you can check them out here - danegerandstacey.com/gear
Travel packing is tricky, the instinct is to pack for every single potential scenario and take more than one bag... we can highly recommend you keep things minimal and don't take multiple bags. 1 carry on bag and 1 check in bag are the only essential needs. If you're travelling in a couple you could try and reduce to 1 bag between 2 of you, which would be our biggest tip if you can.
The video goes into a lot more detail on each of our little travel packing tips, the guide we follow to stay on top of things and how we've become more minimalist over time.

It's very helping seeing what you pack now, and how/why you've changed what you pack over time. Every single time I travel, I try to take less than before. Which is usually just a 15-16 pound (7kg) 30 liter backpack and small crossbody purse. Then again, I don't have all the camera equipment that you do, so it's easier for me. After an airline lost our luggage, only to get it back several days later, damaged beyond repair, with items missing, I went carryon only from then on. It doesn't work for everyone, but it does for me. Thanks for the packing update! Blessing Be, enjoys your travels.

I also love to roll items to pack them even tighter or fold them vertically in thirds so that you can see everything (this works at home in drawers a treat). Always a couple ziplocs if you are in a super rush to the airport with laundry or wet swimsuits in a pinch Packing tech cables and adapters in one watertight bag is also key. Good tips, thanks! I just wish I traveled more! I also pack a spare bag at the bottom of my check-on just in case I do find that Turkish textile that I can't live without.

Great vid guys. Just a quick note about using a power-strip from your home country (mentioned at 11:23). People coming from countries with 120V AC should check carefully that the power-strip is rated for 240V AC. Cheap power-strips sold in the US often have "surge protection" which is nothing more than a capacitor between active and neutral inside the power-strip. These will explode and produce considerable heat and smoke if plugged into a 240V AC outlet using an adapter, even with nothing actually plugged into the power-strip. Ask me how I know.😥

Has Stacey considered "Transitions" style lenses (clear/sun) for her glasses to switch from two pairs down to one...? :/

Loved this video!! I'm leaving to travel next year and have been thinking a lot about what & how I want to pack. Everything you went through was very practical but also realistic. I love how you, Stacey, bring a hair dryer and straightener with you because it's been something I've been guiltily tossing up doing but now am 100% going to do. You always look so stylish and well put together in your videos, which proves you can do that, even with a minimal capsule wardrobe and whilst on the road. Do you end up finding you have to buy and replaced items a lot while your travelling? As in because you only have 5 tops you wear everyday, you have to replace them more because they get more wears than if you were at home with say 10 tops?? Thanks for the great vid guys xx
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 4 жыл бұрын
Such a lovely comment! Getting the portable dryer and straighteners were game changers for sure. You know we actually get really annoyed with only having our 5 things or so, you get sick of wearing the same stuff haha. We keep them for a year or so then often replace all of them and go out with another 5 the next year

Nothing really different for SEA, just less stuff, a few less t shirts maybe. Because we're in colder weather now we needed the warmer stuff. The tripod situation is easyish, we just bought the smallest and lightest one we could and check it in.

Hey you two, great vid as usual and very informative..... but completely off topic. As a guess, how many separate clips would you think you would usually have to edit a 7-8 minute vid? Just interested as a comparison.
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 5 жыл бұрын
Not really sure about a 7-8 min video, we're normally about 10-12 these days and for that we aim for about 100 clips. Generally that comes out to 13-17mins of footage we edit down.

Got the same Douchebag, haven't used it that much yet, just on a few trips. It's both good and bad, the bad is that it's the same size even if it's empty, the good is that it's pretty much perfect for maximizing carry on, and you most likely can fit it under the seat if you have to, which is pretty much impossible with an carry on suitcase. Stacey - cute with the beanie.

Such a good point, when it's semi empty it looks like you're packing 17kg of stuff haha

Really useful video even for someone like me that only travels for holidays etc. My other half will LOVE the packing cubes for our next India trip - packing is always a challenge for those visits as we end up taking over half a warehouse of items requested by the family (that's a story in itself).

ha ha the relatives want all sorts of Western goodies so we end up travelling out loaded to the baggage limit and return half empty. We vow it won't happen next time, but it always does! :)

That was actually really useful, I have the same Sony headphones and I wasn't sure if it was the right decision. Now I feel better about it, I particularly like the adapter for plane seats and the carry case because the cheaper option doesn'tcome with either of those :) please do the tech gear video, I leave for a trip in September and I'm going to make a vlog so I'd like to know what equipment you decided to use

This was very fun and informative! We are planning to travel next year and have been working and adjusting a tentative packing list. I am just wondering if your "one" suitcase is always checked, or if it is the size of a carry on?
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 4 жыл бұрын
That suitcase was always checked and often pushed the 20-22kg limit, as we've been to so many colder places in the last year we actually have 2 checked cases now. If you're looking at Asia/warm spots only then 1 is definitely doable.

We're planning to travel full-time as well. I'm curious about like shampoo/ conditioner, lotion, etc. Do you usually find that at airbnbs? Do you just buy whatever you can find while on the road if you run out? We won't have a home base- everything we own has to fit into a suitcase. thanks!
@DanegerAndStacey

Generally airbnb and hotels have body wash, but Stace has 1 particular shampoo and conditioner that fits in that stripey bag she showed. Surprisingly we've managed to find it most places around the world anyway.

Started doing international traveling a couple years ago and this the exact kind of video we watched from Rick Steves. For people that don’t travel a lot your always wondering what to pack. This kind of video educates people on how to travel within the baggage limits imposed by airlines plus your own comfort. So....if I go to that link and it goes to Amazon you will get something out of it? Sorry for rambling...great video!
@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 5 жыл бұрын
Happy to hear it's helpful! That's why we take the time to make these vids - love sharing valuable info where we can. That's right, if you click on any link on this page and then buy literally anything off Amazon within 24 hours (it doesn't have to be the product you clicked) we get a very small kick back and you pay the exact same price. danegerandstacey.com/gear

@DanegerAndStacey

Thats the thing, when you travel full-time you don't really ever shop.. if you do, something gets thrown away, so its more like replace and upgrade. Little souvenirs etc just don't exist in our world sadly.

Serial is great. Ologies is fascinating! We find Joe Rogan interesting as well - he chats with a collection of people from different backgrounds so you can pick the topics/people that interest you and learn a lot about them and their views why they have a conversation, feels like you're in the room with them.

@DanegerAndStacey
@DanegerAndStacey 5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate - the main bag can sometimes sneak over 20kg if we have cold weather stuff, so we pay the small fee to upgrade to a 25kg (a lot cheaper than paying for a second 20kg bag!). Each carry on we try keep around 8-10kg within the limits. All up about 40kg worth of stuff.
