Gyatso and Aang meeting in the spirit world. He needs that closure, something that Animated Aang doesn't get and carry the guilt until his last breath.. Zuko & Aang talk in the hut, is explored more than the OG show which i appreciated a lot. all of Zuko & Iroh's scenes, they're hilarious (and sad) Zuko & Aang fight in ep 3, so fun!

The Bumi change was upsetting. He will need some serious development in the future seasons, especially since eventually Aang is going to name one of his children after him. I understand the need to condense some stories, but some stuff do seems rushed like Katara's sudden mastery of water-bending. And while on the subject of water-bending, why does Aang not learn water-bending in Book 1: Water. I do have a feeling that there will be timeskips in this series especially since these kids will grow up (pretty quickly - ex. Stranger Things) so I think they will probably up the characters skills after every season, sort of like off-screen training. But despite the changes, I am still willing to see a second season. The casting is great, they just need better writing in my opinion. Also the fight scenes and stunts are pretty good. We need more of that Omashu fight scene with Aang and Zuko. I think that's one of the only times I can really see Aang's goofy personality in this adaptation. That fight scene just reminded me so much of Jackie Chan and his fighting style, which fits Aang so much.

You know it’s a problem when the Yuyan archers were more intimidating than Azula in the live adaptation.

Casting is great. Some of the direction and writing, for a fan, were quite disappointing. But I do agree, we need more seasons and hopefully they'll do it justice.

Overall, I appreciate the series' focus on the theme of war and the consequences of The Avatar's century-long disappearance. The first episode effectively establishes this theme, and as we meet characters, they all exhibit various forms of pain stemming from the absence of the Avatar, whether due to the Fire Nation's instigation of the war or the subsequent generations growing up without an Avatar's guidance. While I agree about Katara's sudden mastery of skills after Aang's arrival, I find myself slowly liking the direction the live-action series is taking.

I was watching a guy who talked about how even though the show didn’t depict the cartoon the way many people hoped, but we cannot expect an adaptation to do that. AND the part that I liked the most that he talked about was how this show does an amazing job at depicting grief and the natural consequences. Like so many people were upset that adults and people were so angry with the Avagar, can you blame them! Especially Bumi lol.

Agree, I really like his speech about making the difficult choices. I can't blame Bumi at all.

15:24-15:44 I am actually living for this moment when Austin is freaking out over Iroh just standing there while the moon spirit is moments away from being killed! 😅😅😂😂 But on a more serious note, while I have only watched clips of the original animated show, I did watch part of the last episode of the live version and I have to agree on Iroh being more reactive to the moon spirit about to be killed in that version. In the live version he didn't even insist on Zhao releasing it and when all hell breaks loose he didn't try to stay put with Aang and his friends to fix things. I might actually watch the animated version if I have the time for it though. (PS, Austin is looking like a snack!!! 😏😏❤❤)

I appreciate the live action and Frozen for the "love" twist because everyone always assumes/defaults to romantic love and never considers platonic or familial love.

I enjoyed the CGI, the fights, and was so glad they used more humor when they could. I think the storytelling really fell short and we lost a lot of the details that helped flesh out the characters and their journeys. For example, the detail of sokka's sexism. Like it didn't take away from sokka's storyline that they changed that aspect, but it showed up so much more in katara's storyline. Because in the show, she's supposed to be this fiery/outspoken/determined young girl and sokka's comments towards the beginning of the book one give her reason to show how frustrated she is at the way he talks to her and that was supposed to be the whole reason they found aang (because she was worked up and water bending on accident) and we see throughout the series how determined she is to improve, even stealing from pirates to learn more. It also makes sokka's development on kyoshi island more rewarding because you can see his worldview changing after being humbled by suki and the other warriors. The way they are changing the characters and their stories at their core concerns me because I feel like it's going to create problems moving forward into season 2 like with the bumi/toph issue. I loved certain moments throughout the season, for example, leaves on the vine/the backstory of zuko and his crew. I found that genuinely touching. I just find it unfortunate that of all the characters they might have tweaked, they really dropped the ball on aang and katara, who are arguably the leads of the series.

Long story short, the additions were very welcome, and the ommisions were only uncomfortable.

Also I thought it was an odd choice to give Yue bending abilities because I felt like one of the reasons it was so believable her and Sokka bonded so quickly was because they were both non-benders. at least I felt like it would have made sense to have that bonding them, rather than the odd spirit world encounter.
