What are your tips for sailing on the new Norwegian Encore?

We are booked for our Alaska cruise Sep 3-10, 2023 to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, the Encore looks beautiful, we have only been on 1 cruise and that was 18 years ago on a Royal Carribean cruise with family members, this time just the 2 of us relaxing and enjoying our upcoming retirement in 2024. Loved this review, very helpful.

You will love the Alaska cruise. We've been on many, all on NCL. My parents (94 yoa!) and I are going on the Encore on Oct 1 this year after being on NCL's smaller ships. Enjoy your cruise, congrats on your 50 years together!

Sailed on The Encores Inaugural Vovage in Nov 2019 from Southampton to New York. Beautiful ship. Loved the layout. Lots to do on board. Entertainment was fantastic. I usually only sail on NCL smaller ships but would differently go on this ship again.

Just went to 7 days carribean cruise on encore. My first cruise and I was so pleasantly surprised. Amazing food and service. Drinking package and speciality restaurants package definitely worth it. Guess what we were doing :)

We sailed her as NCL platinum members we were disappointed yes it’s more nickel n dime from NCL the go cart prices were $6 more then on the Bliss also no free adult area. It’s almost $248 to use Vibe for week and the perks to Platinum members have been scaled back so after 20 NCL cruise goi g back to Royal with beautiful free adult pool and buffet areas provided

For $15 go cart on an 8 minute ride is not bad at all compared to the indoor electric go cart track near our place charges $50! For 15 minutes! Only advantage is the carts are way faster and has a bigger track layout..

We also have been trying to be loyal to Ncl, but we are going to take our first princess cruise shortly because we quite frankly are tired of the Ncl nickel and dime

Pretty awesome they made the ship so huge you have to reserve shows 4 month in advance

At this time there are huge discounts being offered for couples , and also to bring along up to 2 kids. That said it’s a massive ship with limited space in some of the key venues so not sure if a cruise on Encore would be relaxing or more like competing to get into the most popular Disney attractions at the peak of the season.

I absolutely hated this ship. The cruise was nice because of the destination, but I'm not booking with NCL after that experience. Here are some things that bothered me. 1. The staff was out and about taking up space meant for passengers. I remember a Kinky Boots actor making a huge mess in the buffet and not doing anything to try to fix it. 2. The free food was sub-par at best. The best thing I ate was the Caesar salad in the MDR. 3. On the first day of the cruise while exploring, the crew were rude about things not being open. We walked around the VR room before being told to get out. 4. The balcony was very small. We paid for a Club Balcony Suite, but we couldn't sit in the chairs comfortably because the balcony was SO short. 5. The Vibe Beach Club was a scam. We paid for it day 1 of the cruise. We'd gone up there the whole week, but the bar was never open and nothing was taken care of. On the last day (even with the wristband to prove we paid for it), they tried to tell us to leave. That was $250 per person for something that was never available for use. 6. We paid for breakfast to be delivered to our room daily, but we could only get basic food that you could grab at a cheap motel (anything heated besides coffee/tea added the typical room service fee). 7. Our priority boarding and check-in wasn't honored even though it was on our cruise cards. Tldr; NCL disappointed me severely, and I'll never give them more of my money.

Looking for a super inexpensive suite from oahu to oahu, Hawaii 7 day, solo.....vacations to go is really just the cruise stores ticket office- I couldn’t find a ‘great’ price. I have been on this Pride of America cruise before, and the specialty restaurants are really good- but it’s hard to capture a cheap price for solo, balcony or suite. Any suggestions oh great and mighty Oz? Xxoo🥰. I live in Hawaii, just like to get away from time to time

The buffet, Manhattan, Taste, & Savor all offer vegetarian options at every meal. Many of the specialty restaurants will also, but it is a good idea to ask first.

I haven't cruised with you yet. I was invited to cruise with I think 10 females will be in our group. I am honored that they invited me and I am bringing my wonderful sister, Chris. However, I was speaking to the woman that belongs to their church. I hired her to clean my house. We became great friends. The 3rd time she came to clean my house she invited me to go with her Church friends. I quickly called my sister in and asked if could go and she said that she would love to go but she didn't have the money to go. I then told she is free. My husband paid for the 2of us to go . I am concerned that my friend said there won't be a Captains Dinner because there isn't a Captain. She said that it was called a Free Lance Cruise. I am totally totally confused that I don't know just who is manning the ship. I had been talking to my friend that I have a beautiful outfit for the Captains dinner. That's when she told me that there no specific Captain. What the heck?Who is in charge of the ship to keep us feeling b

The Norwegian Encore has "freestyle dining" which means you eat when you want and no particular dress code is required. There is no Captain's dinner but there certainly is a Captain.

You're welcome, we glad you found it helpful. We don't think it is worth purchasing an upgrade for early boarding. If your room category includes the benefit it is a nice perk, but not essential.

My wife has planned a trip on this ship for Christmas we have never done this before. It's already planned we definitely will there. but I'm so worried about everything. We r very laid back Tennessee country old at heart kind of people we do not party we do not get very loud and another issue as I am worried about them bankrupting me before I get home. I thought you give them to a $3,000 and then the trip is done and you could at least go play on the activities without any other money I was wrong it sounds like I'm not worried about the dining experience paying extra for meals you know I know what food comes with are room but I didn't know the other things costed money too

I was on the ship for the Xmas 11 days from Dec 23rd to Jan 3rd. We are Platinum and Norwegian is giving us 2 spec restaurants in the package at $0 but honestly, the food is already amazing in the free restaurant so we don't book any other than the 2 free ones. We paid 1900 each for a balcony with no food or drink package. We spoke with people that had all the packages (food and drinks and gratuities) and paid 3100 each. At one point, ask yourself if it's worth it to pay in advance for the packages. This is a lot of food and drinks for 2400 paid in advance.

The ship was so big I couldn't find my room I spent two-and-a-half days trying to find my room the first night and was able to sleep in the hall and survive on the leftovers from room service that people left out in the heart once they were done
