He lost me when he said people should be given light sentences. He’s clearly never been victim of a serious or violent crime
@willjNZСағат бұрын
That's exactly it, let's see how he would feel if someone murdered an immediate family member of his, of course, one hopes he will never experience such a horror, but plenty of people do. I to believe in rehabilitation, but I also understand that when it comes to seriously violent offenders, possible future risk to the public must be at the very top of the list when deciding whether a person receives parole, or not! Personally, I would always err on the side of caution. I would not personally parole a person who was convicted by a jury of their peers for premeditated murder. On the other hand, if a person was responsible for the death of someone, but there was evidence that indicated the end result was unintended, then I would be more favourable to parole. I would still take into account the actual circumstances, because even with an unpremeditated killing, I might consider that it was still not in society's interest, or a particular demographic of society's interest. By that, I don't mean race, I would have trouble granting parole in the case of a partner killing their partner, whatever their sexual identity. I would want as much evidence as possible to help convince me that parole was applicable, in whatever circumstance, parole was being applied for. I would also understand that it is impossible to be certain I had made the right decision if parole was granted. It would be pretty hard to live with the fact that having being part of a panel granting parole, if it eventually transpired that the parolee took another person's life. But that, alone, wouldn't course me not to grant parole under certain circumstances. I am totally against halving, or 3/4 (meaning you only serve 1/4th of the entire sentence, that makes a mockery of the law/justice, and is an absolute insult to the victim of the crime! A prison sentence, especially where violent crime, should always reflect society's abhorrence towards violence. But premeditated murder, no, no chance I'm going to grant parole, because, in my opinion, for what it is, or isn't worth, if you set out to deliberately, malice aforethought, to take a human life, you've done it for gain, whatever that gain might be, you meant to do it, you may be sorry, that you caught, but, if empathy was one of your strong suits, you wouldn't have done it in the first place, so no, you are staying inside forever!

As an American, I would absolutely expect that the Senior Royals and their residences would have armed security surrounded. I actually think differently than the American on this video. I myself carry.

That kind of thing shouldn’t have happened. Do they not have motion detectors, security cameras and lights? There should be armed security guards regardless of the “optics” to protect the Heir and his family. There should be guard dogs patrolling the perimeter.All security gates should be functional and secure.
@PlanttreesMSКүн бұрын
Well, in certain country in Latin América, supermarkets parking lots are surrounded by a tall fence, there are armed guards at the gate, and if they see you driving in with a baby in the back seat, they go with you and escort you, to the store, then back to your car. In the beginning, it was quite disconcerting and unpleasant, but you get used to it, especially, when it makes you safe.

First, Windsor Castle has been a lived in Royal home for around, or just over a thousand years. Second, The Windsor Estate covers approximately 17,000 acres! Third, the place that was burgled was outside the security cordon, only a certain amount of the Estate has a security plus cordon around it, During your visit, you, and everyone else there will likely have been the subject of video surveillance, while to you, as a civilian, the Castle may not look that well protected, I wouldn't chance attempting to have an uninvited audience with the Monarch, or his family. Also, I have no doubt whatsoever that the Wales family home in Windsor is just as heavily secured as the main residence, in this case, Windsor Castle proper. Fourth, that security obviously works, the man with the Crossbow got nowhere near Her late Majesty The Queen, or any member of her family. I can assure you that had you attempted to get to the late Queen's Apartments, or the current Monarch, or any other member of the Royal Family, you would have likely regretted it. You most certainly will have met some form, or multiple forms of challenge, and you may have found yourself physically harmed in the process! I am not sure if you notice any of the Monarch's Guard, say marching around in platoon strength, on foot, or riding horses, but had you seen it, and been directly in the path of that guard, you would have heard the following announced very loudly, and clearly, make way for the Monarch's Guard (they would use the title King, or Queen's Guard, depending on whom the reigning Monarch was at the time you encountered the Guard), if you don't make way, you will be jostled, and/or literally shoved out of the way. If you go down, get hurt, that is down to you, you were clearly warned. While you may not have seen armed guards, I can assure you they are armed. You mightlike to take a look at some of the KZbin clips of foolish people, going out of their way to annoy, and disrupt a guard member on duty, if you get too close, or go too far, watch out, you will suffer physical challenge, and possible physical consequences, not to mention legal ones. Also, those guards are trained, and allowed to use lethal force if required. While generally, they a friendly and kind, they are not allowed to interact/speak with tourists/any other people, they are there for one reason, to guard the Monarch, and they take the job very, very seriously. Now and again people/tourists try their hardest to get a response, such as a laugh from a guard, and now and again it is successful, but there are always one or more idiots who take it way too far, and you can find out what happens when they do in a few KZbin clips. If there is one thing I would say about the King's Guard, don't screw with them, you will end up in serious trouble, possibly even injured, these are serious people, and they have a serious job to do, so treat them with the respect they deserve, and enjoy the experience!
