My compliments to the package designer who came up with using the hand on the backing card, and especially for accentuating the fingers using the plastic bubble. It was a beautiful package design for a form factor designed to fit right in the palm of your hand!

Oh man! That Hawkman figure is so magnificent! The sculpt is absolutely awesome! The GCPD SWAT, Thanagarian warrior and Lexcorp troopers are cool. I like these army builders so much. Commissioner Gordon is a perfect figure.

I was waiting for this video! I loved this line. Hearing the behind the scenes stuff is very cool. I had everything in this line except the big anti monitor and the starro set. I had to sell them a while back because I really needed the money after a house fire (it only destroyed 2 rooms but in it was one of my collection rooms and I lost my masters classics figures in it) I really regret selling them . Only one I kept was the earth 2 robin figure because I had never seen him made before or since ( maybe dc direct did one but I don't think I've ever seen one)

I was a huge fan of this during high school. My local stores sold out of all the heroes and left dozens of Weaponer of Qward figures. Army built a small force that stood alongside my Cobra/Hydra alliance. Sadly had to sell them all when I fell out of Superheroes at the end of my teens. One aspect I really liked was the 3 packs that coincided with the animated movies. The Batman Gotham Knights Deadshot figure was my favourite for a long time.

For some reason the Walmart near us discounted their Infinite line of figures to $1. My wife called me and asked if I wanted to start collecting them and I told her absolutely not. Because then I'd want to get them all. Well she brought me home a stack, and I got hooked. It was a really fun line... And my kids now enjoy playing with them.

As a collector I really loved this line. Not a big footprint to take up on shelves and I like it more when I get the odd no one knows this character line up. It just so happens the anti monitor is one of my favorite dc characters and I never got one of him in this line. mostly because the area i live in doesnt seem to ever get entire full shelves of toys or toy lines. One of my favorites from this line is an exclusive wonder woman that came in a wonder woman cartoon dvd pack. Also these figures fit well with the green lantern movie figures if you are looking for more

For some reason, this line never clicked with me, probably because I was big into the JLU line at the time and I didn't feel the need to collect a different-yet-similar line simultaneously. But I remember there being a great Super Powers-esque Batman that I couldn't pass up. So I do have one Infinite Heroes figure in my collection, that I still think is awesome.

Could there be a video on the design selection process? For example why was DCIH a more true 3 3/4" line similar to Star Wars, while other contemporary brands like GI Joe and Marvel Universe had elected to be 1/18 or 4"? What were the selective pressures that settled on T-joint hips vs the more common ball-n-socket? DCIH attempted to make that change there towards the end. I've always been curious if articulation joints can be patented thus why toy companies don't just reverse engineer each others (or their own) toys? For example why GI JOE and Marvel Universe had very different articulation even though they were from the same company and sold at similar price points.

Wow, this video was densely packed with information. I almost wish it was three videos instead of two because there was so much in here. Netflix's "Toys That Made Us" series contrasted MOTU with Turtles in that MOTU only did the main figures one time vs the constant stream of turtle 4 some figures playmates got so that new fans could jump into the line, keeping it going as kids aged out of the line. I know there were gimmick He-Man and Skelators like thunder punch and squirting thing on shoulder Skelator. I know that Mattel was inventing the wheel with MOTU as a property like this was never done before. It's surprising they weren't the opposite and thinking every wave needed a version of Batman and Superman. Hasbro kind of took that redo the main guys over and over approach but their 80s mega lines were team-based unlike MOTU so they seemed to come up with different conclusions as to why property fizzled out.

@@spectorcreative1872 This was well worth the time just wall-to-wall information you almost have to watch it three times just to get it all. It was shocking that you needed more space for the planogram and by the time you wrapped you your head around the limited shelf space in the toy aisle and then remembering that this was still the Toys R Us days. Then there was the whole Army builder concept and how using Superman and Batman really could have pushed that by packing them with the army builder guys. I'm not a DC guy so I don't know all of the possibilities for three packs. This was a great line though. I'm really looking forward to the second half of this. I do really love all the business insider stuff you cover but I'm especially into the 1/18 scale content.

Yes, yessir, yes, just yes. I *love* this line. At one time I had tons of them, and am slowly re-building my collection on more selective themes. (My only gripe [which is minimal] is that the exaggerated cartoony hands really did not work as a design element in several characters.) My question Mr Guru sir is why when Green Lantern movie 3.75 figures came out & also Young Justice Mattel went with absolutely no articulation which made it a pass for me except for a few select figures... I believe if you guys went forward instead of backwards with this those two properties wouldn't have failed as hard, just my opinion.. would love an answer but I'm sure your busy Happy holidays

My only source for toy info would be toy fare magazine back in the day. Like you I’m a life time collector and unfortunately, I’m seriously running out of room but that’s ok. I always hoped this line would last longer, but I guess 6" is the default scale. I never had issue with the articulation or sculpts. It was supposed to be a completely different line, rather than just shrunk down 6"ers.

1:18 has always been my favorite scale, and I was a HUGE fan of the Super Powers figures from the 80's, so seeing this line with better articulation and proportions than the JLU line, I was instantly hooked to it. It's so weird to find out the whole line was created kind of as an afterthought just to fill out a plan-o-gram. I really think the line was starting to get really good at the end with the improvements made to the hip joints and added articulation. Scott, is there a reason the first female buck from this line had such worse articulation than the male buck?

Was this a case of Mattel underestimating collector's willingness to go broke collecting 6" figures? Hasbro has gone pretty deep and weird with their Marvel Legends and they mostly sell. I personally enjoy deep-cut characters in kid-friendly forms (Imaginext Metallo anyone?), but modern collectors don't seem to be interested.

Dumb question: why can't Mega Construx make DC comics minifigures? I'm watching your video, my mind wanders towards vehicles and playsets (whenever action figures are involved), and then I'm thinking of what would happen if Batman and friends had a whole bunch of Mega Construx dedicated to him. On another note, toys should be based off of Curt Swan's designs rather than Lee's. I say this to be a contrarian, not because I have a good reason.

The new spin master line from what I am saying the vehicles are doing better by the character selection there’s very little. And in my area they’re very hard to find. The only ones we really see are Batman and we had one case of the justice league set. Yeah I can never find that line you worked on because everybody was buying it up in my area.

You really need to add some background music. Would completely take these videos to another level. I had a ton of the DCIH figures. At one point nearly a full collection (except for the super rare ones, and that gigantic anti-monitor). These, along with the Marvel 3.75 figures, are essentially what got me back into collecting after mostly stopping with the demise of ToyBiz. They actually are what lead me to the MOTU/DC 2 packs, which lead me to MOTUC and Mattcollector. My wallet's never been the same since.

Just as I don't blame a server for the quality of my order in a restaurant, I don't blame the manufacturer for the timing of my toys. However, after the billionth trip to Target/Walmart/TRU without finding any new inventory on the shelves, it became simply too onerous to make the rounds. While there are certainly toy collectors who live for the hunt, I'm not one of them. Thank you so much for your informative videos. I especially appreciate how you edit in such a way as to permit the viewers time to "savor" the toys and their packaging.

I had to pick my poison. By those mid-2000s, I was collecting LEGO BIONICLE sets. Collecting standard action figures was no longer a priority. I wasn't going to expand my universe by going into (for me) a new form factor. The Justice League Unlimited sub-line was only one I continued to collect.

This line. I think when it was announced i kind of pictured DC Universe Classics molds in a smaller scale (with less articulation, sure) that would fit in with, and continue, my Kenner Super Powers collection. And when I finally saw them in stores...yikes. That scale. Those skinny legs. Those...hands. The generic buck with painted-on costume aesthetics. Just a huge disappointment. The attempt at Doomsday stands out as a real clunker. there were a couple bright spots. Anti Monitor was good. Hawkman and Bizarro were ok. The Jim Lee predicament explains some of this, but all in all, I thought these were some of the worst toys Mattel ever made... ...and then Young Justice hit the shelves.
