The problem with Timi that Metagross outlines is that Timi knows how to balance and has a good idea of what the mon should be like, but it’s almost obvious they don’t play their own game. Every time, they create balance changes, and it’s always over or undertuned. It’s not like they’re bad at balancing, they just need to know what their changes actually do.

First time where almost every mon is good, but not absolutely dominating (besides EX mons ofc), and the mons that are bad are mostly the annoying ones. Hell, even EX mons are actually kinda fun if you play them with specific builds. Besides the game as a whole, the gameplay itself is quite good, and it’s more rewarding and less punishing than mobas like LoL or even Dota2. The problem with the game is the one many other live service games are having. Fun WITH engagement, not only one or the other. But of course, it doesn’t change the serious problem that Timi doesn’t test out their game. They need hired beta testers that actually know how to play the game and balance, instead of just throwing numbers at the wall and hoping for the best.

I, for one, am here for the metagross meta. In all seriousness, they probably overtuned gyroball. I feel like meteor mash should be the move for damage and gyro ball for sustain, but gyro ball just does everything right now. I love the Pokémon, so I hope they can find a way to make it good but balanced.

First thing, revert the iron defense buff. You're a three stage pokemon, you're NOT supposed to dominate lane at level 3. Then, either revert the gyroball buffs, or decrease both the damage and the shield by at least 30%, or increase its cooldown to at least 6 seconds. Revert the magnet rise buffs, the movement speed is stupid. That should do it. I think the extra defenses are fine, it's supposed to brawl. It's NOT supposed to one shot attackers and chase down speedsters.

It's a double evolution so it needs to be strong, is everyone thinking decreasing defense or increasing gyro ball cooldown? I'm curious what specific nerf people will agree on. They had the same problem with Comfey, it wasn't doing well so they buffed almost everything and then it was overpowered. This is why they shouldn't buff everything at once. I was here live. The only buff it needed was CD but the devs are stupid and love to double or triple down on something not only that the numbers were massive. We saw them and I knew it was going to be a problem. I know they only use names for inspiration but Gyro Ball doing this much damage while Metagross is so fast just feels wrong. It really should just be good shield low damage sustain move and let Meteor Mash be high damage lower shield. Also Zen Heabutt should be higher damage/cc, lower mobility while Magnet Rise should be lower damage/cc, higher mobility. But Rise also has everything.

The Unite Move has been fixed. You become unstoppable when you use it now. And if it somehow still becomes canceled, your Unite Move charge goes down to 91%.

The extra defenses, extra damage, extra shield and extra movement speed on its moves were unneeded, Timi just always making a mess. Not entirely surprised, in some ways he was on the line before, due to how his kit combos with itself, he just had bad numbers, so on occasion he’d pop off but most of the time sorta meh Now with good numbers he is just a sentient ICBM, especially considering how gyro ball has free movement, it’s really easy to readjust mid attack and keep up with the opponent. Heck even sword doggo needs to stop for .2 seconds to draw his circle

Have a nice power spike or receiving a nice unite move is something lv 9 evo mon need, but sustaining suicidal brain dead plays is a little too much. If the price of evolving at level 9 is beeing undefeatable, undying and absolute, it means they should reduce the evolution level, cuz breaking the game is not a "fair choice". All the mons need pros, cons, different playstyles and STILL BE BALANCED.

@@jeanalaint I never said you should buy every pokemon (I think very few people even play more than a dozen different pokemon), but it's definitely not hard to own most of them. Unless you're buying every release you should have enough saved up to buy a new pokemon if you want. Every company wants and needs to make money, and if you're not willing to spend anything on a game that lets you play as many hours as you want for free, then that says as much about you as it says about the company. No one can't blame you if you don't want to spend money on a game, but neither can you blame the game for giving to option to support it to the people who wish to do so. Not that any of this matters since as we've already established that buffing Metagross after it becomes available for coins makes no sense if the goal is to maximize profit.

Maybe an unpopular opinion… but this is one game, and even at that there is a lot to be analyzed. I gotta see more before I’m ready to jump on the “it’s broken” train. To me this one game isn’t a great example of being broken, he just out leveled the whole game and faced mainly squishy attackers with that 2-3lvl advantage. It’s a skill to keep lvl advantage within a game, a lot of players would have lost it. But take almost any mon in the game, give it 2-3lvls up on anything it faces and it’ll seem broken. That’s how the game works. Anyhow, I’m sure you all know more about how to tweak cooldowns and buffs than I do, maybe that’s the solution. Just my two cents. Really enjoy your content! Thanks.

its sad they made metagross so strong, because i know they are going to gut it now, like they did to ttar and dragonite and tsareena in the past, or scizor off the pts, or urshifu and zacian recently. Whenever they make a melee pokemon very strong, the game always decides that the best thing to do is just to gut the mon out of the game. The even sadder part is, is that originally in the unite website, when they said that gyro ball would do about 30% more damage, have bigger shields, and have 1 second less cooldown, everyone was saying "yeah thats fair, that move was very bad". But then the actual patch came, and it wasnt a 30% damage and shields increase, it was more like almost DOUBLE what it was before. They should just give us the 30% they originally advertised.

For me, there is no reason for a shielding/healing move have 4 secs cooldown+cd reduce at boosted attacks That damage would be fine if it didnt happen so many times in a single fight while receiving a shield that sustains any suicidal attempt as if it were normal

Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Because I’ve had more success with Meteor Mash. Like I’ll still do top 2 in damage usually but I’m not getting the crazy high numbers. Running same items and emblems even but my damage isn’t going crazy. Though I’ve been having bad luck with teammates the last few days of having no support and no supporters so maybe that’s it?

Pre-buff Metagross had 3 major problems imo: 1 - Super cancellable and low impact unite move 2 - Painful cooldown lengths 3 - As much as it's an all rounder, metagross didn't lean enough into a specific strength, never dealing quite enough damage, and never being quite tanky enough While I do think the unite move needs more attention, the move cooldown issue was improved thankfully - it's point no.3 that was implemented poorly. Before the patch I preferred the meteor mash playstyle, and it felt like the 'offensive' pathway to gyro ball's more 'defensive' pathway. Meteor Mash's higher damage had a clear trade-off in its longer cooldown and more precise hitbox, but after the buffs gyro ball is just the clear answer. Considering it's cooldown is half that of MM, the damage, shield and wide radius of GB is too strong - and I think the damage is probably the major thing to address, returning to that dichotomy of a more offensive and defensive move option. When it comes to the other two moves, I'd much sooner see zen headbutt get buffed than wanting magnet rise to be nerfed. Once again, I think they should be offering a distinct strength and style with the move options. Yes, every mon will always have a build that is more optimal, but striving for a level of balance where no move feels utterly outclassed would be nice.
