On 27 September 2024, the UN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) and the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) hosted a seminar titled "What will the Pact for the Future mean for Africa?"
The seminar took place within the week of the Summit of the Future (22 - 23 September), during which Member States endorsed the Pact for the Future, one of the summit's outcome documents. The Pact addresses Africa’s wide-ranging pressing needs and aspirations, including international peace and security, sustainable development and financing, youth and future generations, science, technology innovation, the global digital compact, and global governance.
The seminar delved into the Pact's critical outcomes, exploring their implications for the continent's peace and security, governance, socio-economic development, and standing in the global arena. It also explored how Africa can leverage the Pact's outcomes and decisions to address its challenges and reach its aspirations.
